2 Groups Of Highly Influential People

Last Update: December 21, 2017

All these years we may have interacted face-to-face with thousands of people. They could be our family, friends, peers and people at social or business functions. With the arrival of Social Media, we became connected with thousands more.

During conversations, we usually share ideas, thoughts, beliefs and values. We may concur with some, rebuff some and feel nothing about some.

The more we discuss with people we like, the more powerful their influence have upon us. We are either persuaded consciously or subconsciously. Subsequently, we are updating our mindset, the way we think. Our perception of things are changing gradually. As a result, we are forming different attitudes and behaviours the whole time.

We might not notice the changes that are happening to us. But people close to us will notice the changing pattern in the things we talk about, the way we think, our attitude, our actions or inactions.

Jim Rohn said, " We are the average of 5 people we spend the most time with. ". It means, we will become almost similar to the people we surround ourselves with - in thinking, feeling and decisions. There is no escape from this effect.

We can choose the kind of people we want to associate with. Take note that there are two extremely influential people and their traits are very contagious :

  1. Positive people -- they have good things to talk about, they are grateful, they talk about future plans, they don’t waste their time, they take actions, they busy themselves with what matters most, they love to learn new knowledge and skills, they are highly motivated, they pick themselves up after every failure and move forward.
  2. Negative people -- they complain about almost everything, they talk bad about others, they busy themselves with petty matters, they love politics, they get angry or upset by many things, they watch TV a lot, they hate learning new things and dislike changes, they give up easily, blame others for failures and remain frustrated.

We are not judging anyone here. With a sound mind, we are able to decide which direction we want to take. And it is our absolute personal responsibility for the outcome.

Our choice will influence our future, either positively or negatively. So, choose wisely.

Winning is positive. Losing is negative. Now, what kind of people do we want to hang out with? Winners or Losers?

Need I say more!

Our filters can determine our future. Garbage in, garbage out, as they say. I recall when my older daughter Marisa was told not to do something by her mom. It had to do with picking flowers, and she did it anyway. When asked why she did it, her reply was, "You told me no. I told myself yes."

Though it was a bit about defiance, it was more about exploration and finding out how things were built and how they function. We are explorers and, when we believe, able to achieve the most positive rather than succumb to the negative. Marisa is a genius mathematician with the DoD because she never accepted "no" as an answer to her aspirations.

Tell yourself yes. And show those around you that you care. :-)

Some times we can only avoid the negative people and seek the positive ones. Knowing that we are both too

Life can be frustrating and before we know, we project those feelings on others.

Negative and positive are two poles and in between is neutral.
A very peaceful and caring environment...

As long as we know who we are, we have power to become what we want to be.
