When building a large email marketing list you'll always run into a problem. The problem is how to convince the people on the email list to actually open the email.

WAYS TO CAPTURE INTEREST IN EMAIL

There are a couple of ways you could use to capture interest in your email. The first and most obvious way would be to give away something for free, but it's only a quick fix. The longer term solution involves building trust and attraction. The trick is to create a sense of engagement.

Enter the open rate
. When you write an email message you can use the open rate to help your cause. The open rate is simply the percentage of people who open the email. Let's use an example. You're writing an email message about ways to save money in your home. You might write it like so: Save $$$ on your cable. Then over time the percentage of people who read the email will go down because the word saves is a strong word. The open rate might decrease from 30% to 25%, to 20% to 15% and so on. Eventually the open rate might reach 15%. This is the point where you know that people are actually reading your message and liking what you're saying. This is where most people fail.

The problem is that this type of analysis doesn't show you anything about the people who open the email. What this does show you is what the open rate is for the words "save" and "save money" and "save energy". What you need to do is find the words that draw the interest of your email list.

That's not to say you shouldn't have some of your emails about saving money and saving money. But you want to tell the people who are actually opening your email that they're actually interested in what you're saying and what you're promoting. So your email will look a lot different at lower open rates.

Another way to think about it is that every time you send out an email you should be trying to improve your relationship with the people on your email list. That's why you should be doing open rate analysis. It's not just for how many people open the email, but what you should be doing is how many people actually read what you wrote and bought what you were selling. When you've done this you should be seeing results. Otherwise you might be sending out emails but the click through rates aren't going to improve. So instead of focusing on open rates, focus on the total rate of clicks and responses.

Kindly leave your thought on this.

Wouldn't it better to use a specific plugin to see if your customers are actually opening the emails?

the algorithm of a good email marketing software should be designed in a way that you will know when a customer open the email and you can also configure it yourself to send a reminder after certain date if the email is not opened.

Is that free,?

I wish too@newme202.

Ok

Hey
Technical blog post, things I like to follow upon.
I have read some place it takes up to 7 times before someone takes action on an offer and I know some who sends out email every day. So by the end of the week they have sales :) That's if those potential receivers have opened the email they've received or better still work out over a month period so that they have consistent sales. In some other businesses it is three months plans down the line.d
As usual I enjoyed your blog post.
Thank you.
Lula

Sending out email everyday is an easy path for a subscriber and a potential buyer to unsubcribe. It is not advisable in email marketing especially if one is trying to make sales. It could be termed as email stalking.
One of the features of a good email marketing software is that the its algorithm should be designed in a way that could identify un opened email after certain date and send a reminder notification.

Thank you so much for a terrific advise, I never thought about email stalking but now kinda making sense, you are so right.

You are welcome@Lula
