A website is for your visitors. Your goal is to make navigation and finding information they are looking for fast. When you website starts you will have only a few posts, but what happens when you have 100-200 posts? How are visitors going to find what they are looking for?

Your menu highlights the categories most important to visitors.

You can use categories to sort and group your blog posts into different sections.

Categories are meant to indicate the genre of the post, so to speak. Tags, on the other hand, go much more in depth and indicate the individual things that the post talks about.

For example; athletic shoes could ba a category
but rubber soles, slip on and slip resistant sole could be tags.

This how easy and pleased a visitor would be if they could click on a tag rubber soles and find all your posts about that.

The easier you make it for your visitors to find what they are look for, the more likely they will return.

It takes time and effort to do them, but it is all about the visitor and meeting their needs and making their time on you website pleasant.

Navigation so that your visitors can easily find what they are looking for. Further, this will improve the user experience and cause persons not to get frustrated (because they can't find what they want). This allow your visitors to stay on the site longer which is good in the eyes of Google (which determines rank of your site)

Menu and categories will help your readers find themself on your website otherwise they will be lost and leave your site fast. For tags is good for SEO Tags are like a keyword in the index section of a book

I'd save you clicking

You have to use categories, but you don’t have to use tags if you don’t want to. I'd use both to make UX (user experience) most navigational.
