Why are people writing blogs here that deal nothing with their affiliate sites? Seems like a big waste of time to me.

This is a community and many people here enjoy being part of a supportive community. If you don't enjoy a post, search for something else to read. Some people post things here to get experience writing and to network. That is what a community is about. If you want to add something different then do so. I'm wondering why you took the time to ask this question it makes me wonder what you are really looking for?

I'm asking a reasonable question. It has nothing to do with if I think the post should be on here or not. I'm actually asking what the benefit of a post posted here on WA is to that of the author?

Hi Thomas, interesting observation. If for a moment you think the covid-19 is not affecting every aspect of online businesses, and any business in general, I think you may be missing something.

If someone asks a question, or posts anything related to WA, and I may be able to help, or comment I will do so.

You call it a big waste of time, we have a lot of members in the health care profession here at WA. There are a few retired people which means, they are at an age where they need to take extra precautions. No dis-respect.

You have been since April 2018. Obviously talented with the web and graphics. Eighteen comments to date and yes they are related to WA.

You may not know, but this is a war, not being fought by you or me but by nurses, doctors, first responders, perhaps you can show them a little respect.

I get all this, but the info is out there. Everyone watches the news, etc... etc.... I'm just asking what is the point of posting a post on this site? This shouldn't be a place to get medical info. Most of the web shouldn't be for that matter. In particular, I'm just asking in this case what is the purpose of your post? I'm asking that from the point of a WA perspective? How does it help you on WA? There aren't links on it. Even if there were, I'm not sure how that would benefit you. I mainly use posts to get info on affiliate marketing or when I have a question about affiliate marketing. Or maybe my achievements with marketing or problems I'm having using WA, etc... I'm just trying to figure out what the purpose of a Covid 19 post on here would be. This is not somewhere where I would come to get info on the virus. Just like I wouldn't go to Facebook to get that info. Every day I come on here and see another post about Covid 19 or someone on a cruise ship or something and I'm trying to figure out what the benefit of that is?

Hi Thomas, don't get me wrong. I appreciate your feedback. If I am looking for help related to something related, to WA, I will post a direct question.

The post I published is not meant to help me. Yes, the news is saturated with COVID-19, information, and misinformation. This will be an ongoing situation for at least eight months, perhaps longer.

I would like to think of myself as an individual who would give without the expectation of receiving. The things you would do, and the things I would do maybe totally different. I think it has something to do with maintaining one's individuality. My gosh, I am the first person to say, I am out there in left field on most occasions.

Thomas, if you do not want to subject yourself to reading a post, I do believe there still is a delete button. We are given a great gift in life and that is called, "Choice".

Do you watch TV Thomas? Let us just imagine you are flicking through channels, if there is something that you are not interested in, will you waste your precious time watching it. Your mouse is your remote control.

Best wishes,
Michael

You aren't getting what I'm trying to say. Normally I wouldn't want to read your Covid 19 post because I'm not here on WA to get Covid 19 info. It's the one of the last places I would go for that. I actually feel bad for anyone that would come here for such info. My original question about your posts and other posts here that have nothing to do with that person affiliate business is why are they posting it here? I'm try not to post anything here unless it can help me benefit in some way and I thought that was supposed to be the point of posting here?

Hi Thomas, I think you brought up a good point here.

"Normally I wouldn't want to read your Covid 19 post..."

Stick to being a normal person, and please do not let posts like mine take away that normality away from you.

Thomas, it helps people allay their fears by chatting with friends they have made within the community. I have met many wonderful people here in WA, and I consider them friends all, and I love to talk with them, not only about business, but other things happening within the community as well. We are a WAmily here, my friend!

Be safe!

Not that I disagree with what you are saying, but I'm holding my hand about 3 feet above my head right now, so that is about 9 foot 2 inches off the floor. That's about how sick I am about hearing about Covid. Facebook, Instagram, TV, radio, text message, stupid memes people are sending me, etc... etc... etc... I come here to work and am trying to make money (eventually). Would just love to open up WA's website and not see a post about Covid. I mean you (people here) should have a ton of other outlets to allay their fears of this (which if you are staying inside and abiding by the rules of social distancing, there isn't much for you to fear in my opinion). I wish we cold keep our work life separate from our work and I consider WA to be work, not a secondary social media platform. But hey, that is just me. I'm pretty straight forward and say what I think. Must be the Marine in me. Oooh Rah, wash your hands and be safe.

Ah--appreciate your military service. As an Army veteran myself, I can appreciate what people are experiencing. Would it be that we were all ostriches, then we could place our head in the sand, unfortunately, this isn't going away for some time. There will also likely be a new normal afterwards, so we have to buckle up and get used to it,

Since 9/11, life has never been the same. Unfortunately Change is permanent--it's part of life. I choose not to let it affect things that I know must get done. I've learned to focus on what needs to be done, and allow people their necessary outlet so that they can heal in a way they know how!

Be safe and have a safe weekend!

Appreciate yours. Ostriches is a little extreme don't you think? How is it putting our heads in the sand when every aspect of every day life is shoving info in our faces about this?

Either way, whatever floats people's boats I guess. If people want to waste their time here doing the same thing they are doing on FB, Instagram, and everywhere else, I guess that's their prerogative

God Bless.

Hi Thomas, I personally think you are using this to get responses. You mentioning the members here at WA as, "you(people here)". We are the same as those people. You have decided to make Covid-19 as your outlet, defeating everything you are not agreeing with. This is a great tactic to get attention to yourself.

By the way thank you for your services as a marine.

You have a choice to read or ignore any of the posts published on this platform.

If you see something which you think is against the blogging rules at Wealthy Affiliate your best plan of action is to report it to Kyle or Carson. Please don't start a flame war.

It is and its spreading disinformation. But people, especially those in the US, are navel-gazers and cannot talk about anything that not happening to them personally.

THIS IS A BUSINESS PLATFORM, PEOPLE!!! USE IT AS ONE!!!

It's no secret that Covid19 has a big online presence at this moment and since it's a new thing - everyone's trying to rank for the best keywords to acquire keywords.

Some affiliate marketers disguise it in a way that it helps their audience - like # Best "product name" to deal with Covid19...

And with the panic-shopping that's going on - affiliate marketers believe that these keywords could be "money" keywords.

I am not so sure about that. However, I see a lot of eCommerce stores dropshipping supplies and even water jets for toilets which is definitely a niche.

But I am definitely against any kind of affiliate marketing sites writing mediocre blog posts to "help" while being driven by their own profit.

Who knows, maybe Google will see right through these posts and penalize the sites in the long run which could do a lot more damage than good in the long run for the sites.

I get all that, but why are they posting blogs on here? I don't get why people post blogs on this site that have to do with that or what's happening in their personal life. That just doesn't make any sense to me.

They post here because blogs within the WA can get good ranking because of the authority of the WA platform itself

Hi Leo, when you say, "they", are you in any form referring to me? You have been here a long time and perhaps, I have lost some sort of prescriptive in WA.

Yes, but if you aren't promoting anything that deals with the virus, how is that helping you? Also, this blog has nothing to do with your site as it's not linked to it, so your site doesn't get anything from it correct? If anything, to only one benefiting from it would be the WA website itself. Am I wrong on this?

I mean I have a website promoting boots. It doesn't matter what I post in my blog here, it's not connected unless I put my domain address within the blog. Even then, it really doesn't help much and in some instances could hurt my site because it absolutely has nothing to do with my site.

To answer all your questions posting a blog here can drive people to the WA if the post gets ranked in the search engines.

So if you're promoting the WA someone may decide to join WA because of your post.

Now I highly doubt that would happen posting about this virus.

But that aside, this is why people who are promoting the WA sometimes post here in the WA.

I hope that clears things up

I kind of get that, but I don't see how a blog post on this virus on their Caribbean cruise would get them to come here like you said. Also, if they do come here, do you actually get the credit for it? Wouldn't you need to use your affiliate link? Does posting a blot put that page out on the web with your affiliate link? I never saw that said anywhere before.
Reply
leoemery Premium
Yeah, it's not. I think people are just sharing their experiences with this virus with the community. An outlet of sorts.

Yes, if you create a post you would get credit for anyone that joins because the post link that's created has your affiliate ID within the link URL.

Ah I see what you mean. It's their profile, and they have a network of people.

Some people make friends for life here so a blog is a way to express their situation, past events, or just feelings with their closest people in the network.

I'd also like to see a lot more blogs related to affiliate marketing, but I don't mind seeing all sorts of blogs out there.

Blog can be a great way just to get something off your chest or share something interesting.

Hi Leo, still looking for that credit. It seems to be practicing social distancing from my post. It is all good though. Gave me a chance to add a blog on my site.

Best wishes,
Michael
