Should I be inserting Images to my post in Site Content before publishing or after publishing in my WP dashboard?

Hi Mark, personally I write elsewhere and if I've selected images at site content I simply publish the page at my site then remove the resultant page in WP.
But I also go to more "trouble" with images than most ... I size them and turn them into WebP before placing them in a post so I'm probably not typical. But that makes sure that they load as fast as possible.

I have to ask, friend. Have you had any issues with WebP so far? Is it reliable? Is this the only image format source you use? Thanks.

Thanks Richard although a lot of that wasn't in English for me LOL!

Hi John ... The only problem I had with WebP was about 6 months ago when I was making the change, I still had an image optimization plugin that didn't know what to do with them at the time. Sorry, I can't remember which one it was off-hand. It simply returned an error message and ignored the WebP images. I believe most optimizers have a way to handle WebP now.

For a fast delivery and lazy load, I use the free Optimole plugin now because they provide a limited but free CDN service. Only 7 CDN servers for free but that's faster delivering images around the world than no CDN.

I found Optimole because at the time they seemed to be the only option for converting various image formats to WebP ... but although they provide that benefit (and I believe others do now too), I don't use it because I got into the habit of DIY creation of WebPs.

Sorry Mark ...
For various reasons I don't use Site Contents at WA ... although there's very little wrong with it ... I have other ways of doing things for various external reasons, that I could explain sometime but that probably won't help you right now.

Although I do my writing elsewhere, I sometimes use images from the WA pool of free images. If you ever want to use images found under Site Content at WA and easily copy them to your WordPress library, just ask and I'll give you a blow by blow description.

Hi Mark, I actually find it so easy to put the photos in from Site Content but sometimes I need to reduce them to load quicker. That's the only time I add my photos in WordPress instead, usually only the first one.

I find it easier to add images after posting to wordpress. That way, the image will be exactly where I want it to be. Sometimes, when posting a document with images, the image may not show up.

I like to do it in Wordpress because I’m constantly editing in any case :)

Thanks Janine. I may try this way also as I seem to do a lot of editing here.

It's your choice but for me I found
it easier to do it before publishing
it as I can easily add my images
to my content without too much
searching and downloading and
uploading.

This is me only, Mark.
