Today in site comments, my comment got disapproved. Read the whole post before commenting as it was something that also concerned me and wanted to get some tips, this was about website flipping and since I tried to sell a site and failed, I wanted to see if there was something I could have done differently.

I wrote 162 quality word comment and said my opinion" flipping website and making profit is not as easy as it sound".Soon after, I got a message my comment had been disapproved reason= " I'd rather have a positive review. This is quite negative"

This was the guy`s comment.I felt sad, not for me but the way we look at things, and only wanting positive comments because if I had had such comment on my site, a reader telling me selling a website in Flippa or whichever place is not as easy, I`d have used it to improve my post.

This is not the first time it`s happened, I left a comment about some oil recently and said I personally find it fatty and I did not really like the smell( it`s this oil I used as a kid).It was disapproved because it was not reader friendly and positive.

In general I`ve had 6 comments(since site comments)disapproved because of saying something not so positive, is this really how things work?

Has anyone had this experience?

Hey Roamy,

I recently had a nearly 1000 word comment posted on my personal blog, arguing another view point and I LOVED it! The fella had broken it up into several comments and I simply copied and pasted the 5 comments he had made into one PERFECT comment.

My response was simple ...
"Thank you __________ for your input and in adding to the conversation. Only wish more readers would take active interest in what they are reading online."

When a comment is made regarding a different view point, I do not consider that negative. In fact, it adds to the post BIG TIME!

Consider their not accepting your comments as their loss!

On a related note, I've read a few posts re people dropping out of WA, saying they'd given it a good try (a year or more) but couldn't make anything of it, so had to admit defeat.

A lot of these folks sites (not all) were just plain terrible yet because of the happy-gas atmosphere of the WA community, all they ever got was positive feedback to their output, never once a helpful critique or gentle suggestion as to where to make improvements. That would've done them more good than all the back slaps and thumbs-up.

It's good to receive support and encouragement, but it's not helpful to anyone's growth to never receive constructive and well-intended criticism.

This doesn't sound like a critique of the content, just offering a differing opinion based on your own experience. Which is even worse than rejecting criticism, to disallow polite disagreement!

Unfortunately, this seems to be something of a pervading atmosphere throughout WA with many members, so not all that surprising.

I 100% agree with https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/ridesisapis in regards to the "always give positive feedback". I have seen some complete trash websites that have no chance of making anything yet no one gave them the right kind of feedback.

Too many high fives and back slaps.
Too much "just keep going and it will work out".

Any time someone asks me for site feedback I always give them a warning. I am brutally honest. I don't cover my feedback in cotton wool. Even though I am not intending on offending you, I could care less of you do take offence.

I have also seen terrible advice being handed out by ambassadors. Just because you have a great WA rank doesn't mean you are ranking anywhere else.

I recall a guy having issues trying to center something on his page. Coding obviously was the solution to which I offered. Scrolling up to the first reply was an ambassador telling him just to add more spaces..... Really? Spam the spacebar until its awesome? Blew my mind.

Ugh, I'm ranting....

Anyways, I love negative comments as it opens discussion. makes your post less bias. Makes it more authentic and shows your readers that you are a decent person who wants to engage with their readers.

Some of the biggest clown shoes in WA are attached to the Ambassador badge. The whole ranking system is largely meaningless, evident within a few days when you note your own rank sky rocket just from posting your goals and clicking through the certification course. It can be misleading to the newbie though.

Yeh, I've seen some pretty bad advice dished out around here too. A notable one for me was from a member proclaiming to have designed corporate websites in WordPress in their profile, but in a question re widget placement, asked what a widget is... Nuff said.

I like WA and recommend it, but like family, I know it too.

If your comment was responding to someone asking for feedback, then I see nothing wrong with your honesty. After-all, feedback is for-critiquing.

However is some one was asking for comments that would be shared publicly. Then they do expect positive responses from people in the WA community.

The best way to deliver a not so positive response which you think is for the betterment of the blog in question, would be by private message.

Thanks but I beg to differ, not for my sake but I want to think in general.
This was a site comment alright, and I read his post, said my opinion which still remains the same " flipping websites for money is not as easy or as quick".
Honest, I did not know we have to leave positive comments.Unfortunately, I do leave neutral, positive, negative comments, it all depend on the post and product.
Let`s look at it this way, someone leave me a negative/not so nice comment about a product I believe in, I will be happy to reply to it and explain my points, this way, you get a conversation going on in a post or you have a chance to add your point in the original post if you chose not to add it in the comments.

But can understand your point

Understand your point of view Maurice, but maybe I think different. If there was something wrong with my site, an issue which needs to be fixed yes I would expect a private message.

If someone doesn't agree with the content I posted, or has a different view, I am more than happy to have that in the comments. So long as they haven't posted a "trolling" type comment I look at it as the starting point for discussions.

Each of us is different and how we are looking to engage with our audiences will be different as well. Thats what makes this is great and interesting.

Totally agree with you.

Yes, unfortunately, that is true. Comments here are supposed to help boost the website and it its content is a positive way. I ran into the same thing when I started. U want to write them from the viewpoint of a new reader to the site looking for whatever information. Maybe to buy something. Either way, people will only accept positive comments that help boost their page as Google looks at comments as well when ranking your site.

Comments positive or negative .............I think not all of us will have a positive comment to a product, it`s just sad that someone writes about a product and wants me to agree with what they write.
As you mention, I wrote it from a reader viewpoint and it was not accepted to see the product "selling websites" in a different way.It was not even disagreeing, I just said it`s not as easy as it sounds which is true, I tried to sell a site with 100s os posts in flippa and the offer I got was not worth the work.

I understand, I was doing a similar thing but as Kyle said to me that if it is not positive then they will disapprove u and after a certain number of disapprovals u will be denied access to the comments and feedback section. So I just do not use it very much personally because I feel they are then just a fake comment. just my take on it.

Hey Roamy!

Yeah, its up to the author if they approve or disapprove the comment. I have had similar experiences but the good thing is that you still keep the credit for the comment you made. It also doesn't effect you like you don't get reported or something bad like that.

Just don't take it personally. Some people are like that. Keep being honest. Some people can accept it and some people will reject it. As long as you're being respectful that's all you can do :)

Hope this helps and keep up the good work :)

Thanks for being so positive, I did not feel disappointed because he disapproved my comment, I felt disappointed because he/she felt readers should believe it`s easy to flip websites and I felt differently and said so.
