There are little different on how many words there should be in a content. Some say 700, some say 1500 to 2000. Does it affect the ranking a lot if it is less than 1500?

I try to limit each post to 1,000!words. But I have maybe 3-4 posts that were over 1,000 due to the Necessity of more information that needed to be included.

Hi - there is no reason to limit your posts to 1000 words. Google loves longer content, it shows you are an authority on your subject. And as I said earlier, the average length of a post on page 1 of Google is 1447 words.

Thank you, Diane. It is good to know. I think a year ago people were saying not to exceed 1,000 words and it stuck in my mind. I have been fixing all of my posts because I changed my theme. The ones with over 1,000 words I tried to shorten a bit. So now I can move on without worrying about the length of words.

Cheers,
Evelyn

Hi - the recommended minimum is 1000 words. However, you may be interested to know that the average length of a post that makes it to page 1 of Google is 1447 words.

It really depends on your niche and keyword you are trying to rank for on how many words. Sometimes 5000 words is what you need to compete. The rule of thumb at WA is 1000-2000 words. In the MMO niche everything is more competitive so more is always better. Advice is check out your competitors and see how many words they use to get traffic.
