If i write a 1000 word articDo any of you find that you are in a similar situation?le, i can generally rattle one out in around 30 minutes on my Google Documents or Word, etc.

But i ususally find it takes me about another hour just to launch it. Ie, adding images, formatting headlines, entering SEO descriptions for google as well as social media, adding keywords to the Keywords section and making sure everything in AOISEO is up to scratch.

So in short, it's actually taking me twice as long (if not longer) to launch a post than it does to write it.

Does anyone else here find that they have the same issue?

Does anyone have any tips on making this process quicker?

It would be good to have the main time i spen on my website being taken up by creating meaningful content rather than spending most of it on technical stuff.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Kev

@Nuggetz It takes me about 2-3 hrs to write a post. Including research, keyword search, images etc. I try to do keywords on a separate day, but it still takes time to edit it into a readable article and have all the keywords. For me, it's also to do with not being native in English.

Hi Kevin
I find it difficult to be accurate with time estimates.

In practice I have many writing ideas at different stages. I write using software that has a block editor that enables copy and paste into WA or WP.

Whenever I have an idea it gets written into the first step of a multi-step, logical process. I use a Kanban view which means that I move the idea physically on my screen, from one stage to the next, as it develops from the idea through eventually to scheduling a future review.

I have several hundred ideas started and include keyword and content research in the process. Most get started on my iPhone and as they progress they are written and edited on PC. Because it’s something of a production line, some days 4 or 5 articles are prepared ready for transfer to the WA blog or my website.

I would guess that some articles take 10 or 12 hours. The fastest perhaps an hour. The average, maybe 3 or 4 hours.

1000 words, perhaps 2 hours writing and editing plus 1 hour transfer to WA or WP.

So yer talking about an hour then to actually launch the finished article yea? Thanks for your reply. I think i'll have a look into Kanban. It's not something i was actually looking for , but the idea sounds very interesting and something that might be worth getting into. So thanks for that.
Yea, I have a sorta production line if you like just using the wordpress drafts where i will research keywords and throw up titles with maybe a skeleton of the article and come bac to it at a future date when i come to actually write it. So i'll look into this. Thanks

I posted an introduction to it here: It’s free!

It takes us longer than 30 minutes to write a blog because we need to do research so it contains a lot of helpful information. We are very fussy when it comes to the usefulness of our content.

It takes us that long to find images and load our content in WP. We used to do our images quite quickly, But now we realize images are much more important because people will look at the images even if they don't read all of the content.

We have been doing this for over 10 years now in WA and don't think so much about the time. We think of the quality and how it will affect our websites long term.

Hope that helps.

Yea, to be honest, it actually takes me hours and sometimes even weeks to research a particular post. But usually once i've got it all sorted what i'm going to write, it can be pretty quick going. Maybe 30 mins is an exaggeration. But my point is that it seems to take me forever just doing the technical stuff. Just wondering if anyone has any tips on streamlining the launching. As far as the writing goes, i really dont mind it taking time. It's just the faffing around getting it launched is what i feel i'm wasting time with. But perhaps not. Maybe i take regular time. Hence reason for my question. I think from the answers here, i'm probably taking about the same time as most people to launch each article (ie, transfering the article to WA, uploading media, adding keywords, AIOSEO and all the rest of it)
But always open to any ideas that can help reduce this time.
Cheers

I believe it takes longer when you are new because there is so much to learn. I believe it is like anything else after doing it repeatedly it does become faster.

I'm not sure there is an easier way.

Hi Kev,
I have the same issue. For the most part, writing the actual article is a very quick and pleasant process for me.
Editing it in WordPress, that's a different story.
The images are usually not aligning the way I want them to
The links get misplaced or just disappear
The text colors get all weird
All sorts of other frustrating issues.

I don't really have any suggestions other than it just needs to be done as part of the process.

It will be interesting to see if anyone has any suggestions.

Thank you for posting this great questions.

I read your comments above. We don't have alignment problems like we did when we first started. I'm not sure, but it could be doing it so much we know how to work with the issues better.
We also use the text tab to deal with some things. We have learned this over our past 10+ years.

Text links will change color because
active text (when it is a link) is a different color than unlinked text because it needs to be distinguishable.

Once a link has been hovered over the color can change too. Those are all things we have learned about CSS which is the theme styling.

yes, 10 years of experience would do the trick.
Thank you so much for your suggestions and also the willingness to share your knowledge with us, the less experienced ones.

I knew that the links will change the color of the text but just today I was trying to link a whole sentence but it was only outlining and highlighting the first letter of the sentence. I tried it at least 20 times with no luck.
I know eventually I will have to start looking at the text tab, but that seems very overwhelming at this point.

Again, thanks for your help!

Yea, thats what i was meaning. Often it can take me hours, days or even weeks to research any given post. But i really dont mind that. I just feel like i'm taking a lot of unneccessary time in launching it.
But having read many of the answers here, including your own, I dont feel like i'm doing so bad now, as it seems this is about regular time it takes. Even getting alignments right first time can still seem to take forever just uploading, filling out AIOSEO info, adding keywords and all therest of it. I suppose its one of those things you just fget quicker at with practice eh. LOL
Thanks
Kev
