On one of my site I would like to add a snippet about the author to each post and link it to the about page. I have seen this done seemlessly on some sites but have no idea how it is done.

I could add this as a widget I believe but I am not really sure and while adding it in the sidebar is an option I would appreciate some tips and a nudge in the right direction.

Thank you in advance.

Candy,
If you use Gutenburg, just make a block with your bio and link. Save as Reusable Block. Just add a Block to the bottom of each post and save your Plugins for other things.

Thanks John. I definitely won't be using a plugin

so how are you going to do it then

if you used ad inserter to add your google analytics then you could style an 'ad' and have it inserted under the post...
just thoughts

I like Meena's idea actually but you have pointed to a problem I'm already having with analytics not working correctly. I actually promised myself that if I have no other option I will insert analytics with a plugin.

Now if I can address both with this one plugin it's worth a second look. At least until I solve my problem with analytics.

Thanks for pointing that out Phil.

In the long run I plan to scale as many site issues as possible without a plugin.

well if you want a basic author box added under each post content then this is the code - found on the internet and adapted to fit into ad inserter...
as you say if you are gonig to need ot check your analytics as well
try out gachecker.com to see if the code is still on your site - if not then i did a verification via ad inserter.....

Thank you, Phil. You have gone beyond my expectation with this. I will definitely try it and let you know how it goes.

You are a life saver. Maybe that should be business saver. Lol

it is the middle section of this - you should be able to see which bit from the image
as i say it is a simple author box
https://gist.github.com/diggeddy/c448f642993866f79dbb960cbc450a6a
it was more of a challenge for me......

you can do it without any plugins but it does become complicated - making a child theme - editing functions.php and adding css
if you do go the child theme then you can add the google code to the theme header as well....
but you don't gain any speed advantage, in fact you lose speed - what you need to do is to delay loading of anything not required at the start to get the user display up
this is the reason asset cleanup does work by delaying loading of java and css....
so it does start to become complicated to do without plugins - well coded programs can speed up your site and improve it...

I do have some experience with programming html, CSS, javascript and such. It's been a few years since I worked with javascript but I'm prepared to knuckle down to it if it will improve my business. I reply want this to succeed. I will look at all the information.

I may have to try some on a model site.

Thank you for all this. You are a star.

Hi, I have used this in the past and it was good, something you might want to consider.
