Hi WA Community,

I have previously blogged about a few of my posts whose titles I was forced to change in WordPress, days to weeks after publication. The articles continue(d) to appear on Page 1 of the search engines, even by their old titles.

But now I have just encountered something worse. Articles that I deleted using the "Trash" option in WordPress, remain unchanged in the Rankings. This wouldn't be a problem, if one didn't have good reason for trashing those posts. In my case, it's because I have copied the articles to a new website.

1. I think long ago, I saw something to the effect that trashing in WP sends the article to a "Recycle Bin". If so, how does one remove the article(s) permanently?

2. I only realised from a recent discussion that the articles we create through SiteContent get stored there. Could that be the source of the persistence of articles I have trashed in WP? Is it possible and advisable to delete articles from SiteContent?

If you make any changes to your content (editing / deleting) after they have been indexed in the SERPs will not show up immediately, as the SERPs cache the details until they re-index your post.

You can, however, force a re-index by using Google’s URL Inspection tool, and they also have a content Removal tool. Both of which can be found on the left-hand menu of GSC.

hi,

Thanks Chrys. So I should avoid deleting from SiteContent and WP Bin? (I have just located the Delete Permanently button on the latter.)

If you need to delete something, then by all means delete, but ensure that you also request removal from GSC and/or place a redirect from the old page/post to another related piece of content.

Hello,

As far as I know. If you write the article in Site Content in here. Then, possible yes the article still in tack to know your back office hosting is WA. So, try to re-visit the site content and deleting your article that might be of help.

Regards,

Nila
