I am just interested if google actually picks up affiliate links attached to an image when it crawls a page / site? Of course, I am thinking of WA banners being used in a post or page. May this create issues in google ?
I could not find an answer here.
Thanks
Richard

Good question and discussion. I have found for questions like these that putting the query into Google search can result in a wealth of information.

Hey
An interesting thing. I put my query into Google just now - a bit reworded and it came up #1 in the results.
What would happen if someone clicked on this link and came to the WA question and then joined WA? Does anyone get any commission or does WA just get the benefit? I'm interested to know the answer.
Thoughts?

Hi Barry
I use Pretty Link already as per Kyle's Training (thanks Kyle). So this should cloak it so Google does not see it as an Affiliate Link but rather just a link to an external website?

Have I got it?

Thanks again.

I understand the google bots detect banners but if your content is strong and worthwhile, you shouldn´t have a problem in terms of ranking

I don't think it will be a problem. You worried about Google dropping your rank because of affiliate links that aren't masked?

I'm aware that you don't want affiliate links going from every page / post back to WA but wondered if adding them to an image may be a way of getting some in there without it affecting Googles view of you.

As far as I am aware Google reads the "alt tag", "title" and "description" on images, not affiliate links. I watched Jay's training https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/effective-use-of-images-in-content (recording coming soon) and I'm sure he didn't mention affiliate links. ~Marion

That one is next on my list to watch, I think it is probably a very good training video. :)
