The big Secret? Consistency is Key

Hi my friends, I just thought I would drop into the blog and mention something that I have thought about a lot lately. Part of the fun of being in this community is watching friends achieve their goals and I've noticed a common theme as to why they are succeeding.

Consistency!

Without fail. Everyone who is getting indexed, being ranked, making sales, and finding referrals have been super consistent. And not just in the community, they have all been:

  • Writing content 2 - 3 times a week, sometimes daily
  • Promoting their posts consistently on social media
  • Doing the research for keywords and competition

Notice that I don't include keeping their websites up to date, fixing site speed, and connecting in the community. Because they are doing all that too but the bulk of their time is focused on content creation.

When we start at WA very new we often wonder if there is some special trick to being successful with our website (I know I did). I've actually been relieved to find that the trick is as simple as learning how to write content that Google likes (topic, keywords, and SEO) and masses of it weekly.

This makes me so happy because it's a practical skill that we can learn and once applied you can be pretty sure that in time you will succeed.

What other skills do you think make for success?

Enjoy the journey

Warm Regards,

Lily

Hi Lily,

You echo my thoughts on what we should be doing with our time exactly.

If there was an additional activity I’d recommend it is to list ones business building skills we are strong in and those we are weak. Then take courses here to improve on the skills we are weak at.

When we start to earn a significant revenue, we can focus our efforts on the activities we’re good at and also enjoy doing, while outsourcing the rest.

We know that content is king. Even when we like writing content we may not be able to produce for example 5 articles a week. In this case perhaps we could spend time to write two really good ones and outsource the other three.

There are training modules members in WA have created to help us learn what and how to outsource correctly.

Lily, I think you got more than you bargained from me for asking us to share ideas lol. I hope this helps.

All the best to you.

Edwin

I always enjoy your input Edwin and you make some good points about outsourcing.

I found a copywriter after a year as I just couldn't fit the work into my busy life. And now that I have a little more time and am confident with the other tasks of running my website I am studying how to write content better and faster. So that I can add 3 extra posts to my website weekly.

It's all part of the learning process.
Thanks for contributing.

Lily

You are so right about this Lily. I'm relatively new to WA but I find a great pleasure in creating stuff and actually seeing it live on my website.
For me it all come down to being firm about time management and being serious about doing something every day to move forward.

Some days are harder than others, but I sure love seeing something go live and know I got there by being consistent.
Thanks for the great reminder :-)

Great news Julie. You are ahead of the game if you are creating something every day.

Lily

Ain’t that the truth! Thanks Lily.
I think living mindfully in the present is very helpful too. It is the place of real time productivity. And real time laser focus.
Time blocking is a strategy that works for me.
And meditation always helps me get into the present moment more completely.

Yours
Brian

Absolutely Brian.
It's funny, I don't practice mindfulness but when I play my guitar I am immediately in the moment. I use that feeling to work on my business every day.

Lily

I know that very well since I play guitar two to three hours a day.

Actually you have summed it up perfectly.. don't sweat the small stuff ... brilliant.. half the battle is showing up the rest is being at the right venues. Lovely!

Perfect analogy Phil.

Lily

Hey Lily how are you? I would add that being able to track and measure your site performance with tools like Google Search Console and Google Analytics is critical.

I'm great thanks, Hugh. These tools are so important too but if you aren't posting consistently there won't be anything to track. Lol

Lily

Haha you are sure right Lily.
