Time has been flashing past and you've achieved so much learning and growing with your business. Then, life decides to interrupt in a big way and you are not able to spend a few days or even longer, working on your website. What will you do?

Do you have the grit to hit the reset button when you are able to come back?

For many new business owners here on the internet and in outside businesses, this sort of interruption will spell the end of the dream.

They will figuratively, "Throw the baby out with the bath water."

For those who are interested this quote comes from the 1500 when a bath was a once a month event. With dad first, then mum, then each child, with the baby being bathed last. Needless to say, the water was so dirty by this time you could lose a baby in it and throw them out with the water. Yuck!

Don't throw away something important, just because life gets messy.

This new precious business you have created and nurtured is your baby. Don't let life's murky undertow steal your success away. Reset!

If you have lost your momentum, there are a few tips that can get you back in the saddle (so to speak) and galloping down the home stretch.

  • Firstly, Give yourself permission to relax and deal with the break
  • It's a great opportunity to take a fresh look at your website
  • Review what you have achieved and plan the next step
  • Are you heading your content where you want to go?
  • Do you need to find more products?
  • Are there more affiliate companies you could be promoting?
  • Do you need a plugin?
  • Are you sharing on Social Media?

Something in this list will get you excited again.

Over the last weekend I had a huge choir event on, where 130 women and men come

from all over Australia to learn some songs and share the joy of harmony. I booked in a year ago, before I ever knew about Wealthy Affiliates and had any idea about starting a website.

I seriously considered canceling but decided that I needed the head break. It was a wonderful event filled with laughter and many people like yourselves. Talented and confident members supported newer singers in learning about being a team, learning on the run and sharing our accomplishments.

I renewed many old friendships and have come back to my business more relaxed and with a clearer perspective. But it was a huge distraction (I didn't look at emails for 3 days) and I knew I would struggle to find my focus. For this reason, I decided to write this post to myself and it worked.

I'm back!

I hope some of these tips help you to review and renew your spark, when you have a break.

Take care and let me know what derailed you and how you came back.

Wishing you all the success that fills your dreams, you deserve it.

Lily

Sounded great fun! Yes, unexpected things crop up and you have to take a break, whether a few days or more. Having a short break is good anyway. It refreshes the brain and you'll able to come back full of energy and zest!! Love the quote meaning, and found it interesting:) Best wishes. Kathy

This is a brilliant post, Lily!

It is hard going sometimes.

I have been on and off my blogging business countless times. It's a lot easier to give it up than to dig deep and be resilient, patient and persistent.

You got this! I am so happy for you!
I wish you a wonderful new week!

I appreciate your input Ivelina. We really need to keep encouraging each other.

Wishing you success
Lily 😊

Hi. OMGosh I'm so glad you did not cancel. The thing is you do need to give yourself a breather and what better way than with your choir event and wonderful joyous friends. Brilliant!!! And yes now you can get back on board with a relaxed and refreshed mind. So Happy for you. You remind me of my sister (in Perth) whom was going to cancel a 60th she was invited to last year because of her commitments to WA. It's in another state so bit of traveling involved but she had been looking forwards to it. I said to her - NO! You must go - and she has and I know she will be as refreshed as you when she returns. All the best - take it easy - xmas upon us soon....
Thank you for sharing.
Anita.

I'm so glad she went too. I think you can be too focused and burn out. It's knowing when to step back.

Lots of travel from Perth.
Lily 😊

Hi. Yes she is going to Brisbane - and our dear friend hasn't been well - another reason I wanted her to go. I am in New Zealand so can not afford trip at present. That's life. Your right I think we need to be very careful and stick to our weekly/daily planner with WA or you can get consumed. Oh well 10 pm here - best bid Good night.

Anita

Goodnight Anita, sleep well and have a lovely day tomorrow.

Lily 😊

There's so many times that life can get in the way but it's always worth it to hit the reset button and keep moving forward.

Thanks for a great post :)

That is a great question. If we fail beyond our control, I will pick up the pieces and start again. Without any regret or sadness but only the resolved to go on.

Good Morning Lily,

I like your story of 1500. There are some things which have improved nowadays.
Since I started I have been able to continue my journey slowly but surely. I did take a break here and there but that was my own choice.
There are many things which need to be done in one day it is a question of organizing. In case something is left undone one should not get too stressed by it.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Greetings to you. I always enjoy chatting with everyone here. I learn so much.

Have a lovely day

Lily 😊

Awesome post, Lily! I hit the reset button in my head daily - sometimes multiple times a day, just to try to keep my head straight and in the game. Thanks for sharing this!

Hi Lilly! I needed this encouragement. My husband fighting cancer derailed me and it's been difficult getting back started. However, I found myself needing a break. But I am pressing the reset. Thanks for the push.

Good on you Jamie. I hope your husband is recovering well.
Take it as just a dip in the road.
Success will come to you if you just keep taking the next step.

Welcome back to our happy community.
