Do you have a split personality? Terrific!

I know you are asking yourself, 'How can this be good?' But trust me it is a real talent, if you can compartmentalize your business, from your employment.

When I was working in Sydney many years ago I had a terrific mentor, who said some very wise words when I wanted to start my own business.

"You will never be able to work for someone else, the day you start working for yourself."

I truly wondered what he meant but then I began to understand over the years.

When you work at a Job you have to;

  • Turn up on time
  • Do your job
  • Learn to follow
  • Adapt to their needs
  • Do it all again the next day

When you work for Yourself you need to;

  • Be Creative
  • Make your own decisions
  • Be Disciplined
  • Learn and analyze all the time
  • Be Responsible
  • Give up short term gains for long term success
  • Manage your time
  • Allocate time to build your business everyday
  • Not Quit!

Yes, it sounds hard building a business and sometimes it is. But you will reap the rewards if you can stay open to the change in yourself and just keep on learning and doing.

Change your brain!

Many of us don't have the luxury to not be employed, while we learn how to build our business. Consequently, it is very important that to be successful you will become a different person, using two sets of rules in your life.

One for being an employee and another for when you are a business owner.

From one split personality person to another, welcome aboard.

Enjoy the journey and wishing you all great success.

So, now that you know that you are going to create a brand new person in your head, while building your business.

How do you feel about that?

Please leave me a comment and like. Looking forward to hearing your views on this.

Hey Lily, when I get back on the job I will be able to give a better answer. Right now apart from taking care of house and family, I have nothing else to do but work on this WA. We will definitely have to learn multitasking if we didn't know it already

Really nice, I have learned more after joining with WA. I try to collect more knowledge day by day. Now, I think, I have the knowledge and information about online business. But, Still, I feel there are many more thing to learn, because, still I am not completeness on my online business, because, I think if we learned something, many more things added to learn. This is because never we can't stop learning,
So, we have to learn day by day new thing not to finish but to use only.
Thanks so much your discussion
SAM

Sound thoughts, thanks for sharing Lily, I would add in one other, personal.

So if you work for someone else, that is one mindset, creating that business is another set of skills, and part of the gig is keeping the whole thing rolling and evolving.

Keeping your personal life intact and growing can be the glue in the whole process.

It can be so easy to just create another job if we are not aware.

Absolutely right Alex.

Hi Lily. I have spent a large part of my life working for myself, and it has been the happiest part. There are so many hats you have to wear as a business owner that you certainly never have time to get bored. Jim

Hi Lily. This blog post appears short and sweet at first glance but the message it contains is utterly enlightening! This is such a powerful seed of knowledge that it should be planted in every new member’s head. I am starring this post now to refer back to myself and also to point others to in future 😀

Thanks Dave. This knowledge came at a high price, so I'm pleased to share it. Delighted it struck a good nerve.

Lily 😊

Great thoughts Lily and so true. Reconciling working for someone else while trying to start your own business has to be hard. It is defintitely in your head. Keeping your focus and motivation in your 'job' while just wanting to be out there on your own, is no easy task.
Having internal 'taglines' helps. The reasons why you are continuing. They might not just be for yourself, they might also be due to your own integrity and loyalty, in regards to your employer.

Feels great. Must keep pressing on. Helps me to stay focused
Thanks Lily

Well said very true !

Yep, I was told that too.

I found smaller companies not to bad. Can't say the same about the bigger ones though.

One of my favourite subjects. Tier One Companies. 😁

But I find it hard to articulate about them coherently because so much of what they do is mindless, head shaking in disbelief stupidity.
They frustrate me even though I no longer work for them, well one of them.

But they will tell you they are "Over and Above"

I had better stop. You don't need 1000 words for this. lol

Hello Lily and thanks for your post today.
We both have worked for ourselves for 27 years.
During that time we have learned that we have to be self-motivated and unless we get going we will not make income.
Not giving up or quitting is something that we do not give attention too.
Darren :)

So true Darren and thank you for your comment and support.

Lily 😊
