A Trick to Improve Your Mobile Speed
Hi, lovely WA family I've been focusing on polishing my website speed this week as I'm working with a copywriter to add 5 articles a week. My end-of-week plan is always to bring up the details on my website and click on site speed.
Most of the time my speed numbers are in the green at over 90 but recently I noticed a huge
drop in my mobile speeds on individual loading pages. I was horrified and started looking at each of my plugins to see if that was the problem. Then I asked our techi guys to check for me.
Then I looked at my theme, well that could have been the problem but I really didn't want to change themes. So my next step was the layout of the posts. I had an ah-ha moment!
In my post design, I like to put relevant pictures from site content spaced throughout the right-hand side of my post, usually about 4 pictures. Although I had the Smush plugin working I found that when I hand minimized these pictures to load on a mobile as a tiny size they looked better and suddenly my mobile speeds all shot back into the '90s.
Now every week when I check my new pages for loading speeds, if the mobile speed is below 90 I just pop into my dashboard and edit the pictures smaller, and hey presto faster speeds.
I can hear the old-timers here going on dah! But for us newbies, we still need these little ideas to create websites that will grow into the mobile future in 2021.

Hi Alex, yes I am super busy but loving checking the stats for all my new traffic growth.
I keep hearing that there is a huge shift to people accessing everything on their mobiles. So if your mobile loading speed is over 3 seconds people will click away. I can understand that as I do it.

Excellent information I have on the same topic and don't understand where the error is. While reading your article, I found that you need to make the pictures smaller, an excellent idea. I will try it.
Great tips Lily and agree for some this is a normal and standard procedure but for many others, this can be a vital difference with not only their website speed but can also boost their confidence when developing their website and seeing some positive results.
It is the simplest of things that can make the biggest difference.

Using a copywriter? Cool...I guess that is working well for you....good for you! Any words of advice with getting a copywriter?

I think my advice would be to try and find someone who speaks with the same voice you do. In any copy that you get Rudy there will be some polishing to do as well as adding internal, external links and pictures (if you do). By choosing someone with a similar way of speaking your website will still sound like you and there will be less to change.
Also, you will be building a relationship with your copywriter and it helps if you are both on the same page.
