Hope is Not a Strategy

My name is Steve Edwards. I'll be 44 in September and it's time to create a new life that I control rather than allowing life control me. I ended a 20 year carer in education two years ago and I've been struggling to find a "niche" for myself.

I was an Assistant Principal for the last 8 years of my career. I have two degrees a MA in Educational Leadership and a B.S. in English Education. Being an Assistant Principal requires the management skills of any person with an MBA. The leadership required to, not only manage, lead people in a desirable direction in a highly accountable industry with an onslaught of uncontrollable variables requires talent that few recognize.

I believe in myself (highly confident--some say arrogant). During interviews for management positions to customer service positions, the person interviewing me was afraid of me (in that I was more qualified for his job than he) or simply did not recognize (there's that word again) the skill set that I brought to the table. I am an asset to any company or individual.

I even accepted entry level positions in order to work my way to the top but my supervisor in every case was intimidated by me. I'm not a threat to anyone but I know how to learn and I can out perform most (confident-not arrogant). I've decide to stop hoping I bump into my next career. I've enrolled at Colorado Tech to earn a B.S. in Accounting because I want an Accounting degree and it will open a different set of doors. I want a change in my life. With Wealthy Affiliate I hope to create an online enterprise that I can manage from home while attending classes.

I started with Wealthy Affiliate a couple of years ago but got nervous about finding a niche market. I have time now to study, learn, and work through the process. After listening to Kyle, I believe that if I simply work through the process methodically, I will succeed. Hope is not a strategy--a plan for success is the only possibility.
