In one of my blog posts about Jaaxy I did some example research on funny red shirt and saw that funny t shirts gets a lot of searches. So I'm trying out an affiliate site for (surprise) funny t shirts: http://funnytshirtspl.us/

I'm sharing automatically to Twitter, Facebook & Tumblr. I'm also trying to figure out how to automatically post to G+, Pinterest (manual so far) & Instagram (maybe possible with IFTTT).

No plans to use PPC at all, I want to see what kind of organic traffic I can get via sharing with hashtags. It's been a day and I got 1 like on Fb, 1 follower on Twitter and 1 share on Tumblr, which is a pleasant surprise.

Good luck with that ... keep us posted. M

Will do!

I actually have a t shirt press unfortunately stuck in storage 4 1/2 hours away. I had a little local t shirt business that was taking off when circumstances beyond my control curtailed it years ago. As soon as I can get it out of storage I am planning a site with it! So I will remember your information, lol! Though I promise not to steal your ideas, lol ! Hope it goes well for you! ;) Christa

Thanks, I bet it's fun making t-shirts!

Mine just presses the prepared print on the shirt, but I had a lot of fun at shows letting all pick out their choice of color and shirt and print, so they were basically designing their own shirt and not just stuck with what they could find. Plus I had colors of shirts that could not be found in the stores like mint green etc. And when I went to horse shows I had the same prints that were in expensive horse catalogs for half the price, plus my shirts were better quality and I had the colors the catalogs didn't have! It was fun!

Sounds like fun!

Great job!

Thanks!

Keep us updated! I'm interested to see how far this goes for you.

Will do.

Keep us posted. It sounds like fun. Something I wouldn't have thought of that but I do love reading those shirts. ~Debbi

I wouldn't have thought of it either, except for dumb luck!

Many thanks you for your post. I created 85 t-shirt designs on a site which pays commission for each sale of each one of the designs you create. They make the shirts to order, handle payment, despatch and customer services and email buyers when you upload new designs. The problem with the site I found was that although it had a good reputation in the US, it did not have as good a reputation in the UK. People weren't aware that the site was based in the US as they used a .co.uk site, so when people needed to return an item they found they had to post it internationally. I need to find a US based site, (which accepts UK based designers), and a UK based site for the respective markets. It's a fun niche but there can be issues.
I found customer reviews of t-shirt sites at trustpilot.com and trustpilot.co.uk (That is .co.uk not .co; the link here doesn't seem to work with .co.uk domains.)
I also intend to look into ip issues with reference to using quotes on t-shirts.
All the best,
Brandon

T shirt design sounds like a lot of fun. Did you feel it was worth your while, revenue-wise?

I really enjoyed it. I just sat and thought up funny (well I thought they were funny!) comments for shirts. You also have the option of choosing the font (style of lettering) and font size, font colour and colour of the t-shirt. It is possible to apply the design to different types of t-shirts, (male, female and unisex). I mostly chose unisex. You can also apply designs to mouse mats, mugs etc. The only thing is that how do I know whether the words/slogan I have dreamt up hasn't previously been dreamt up by someone else. (may be I worry too much!) Also, there are the other issues I mentioned in my earlier comment. The site I used was a .co.uk, where prices show in £ GBP. Ideally I would like, in addition, to be able to use the .com site, where prices show in $ USD, but I was told that it was at the site's discretion whether the designs on the .co.uk site would be shown on the .com site. I noted all the hex numbers and font details so I should be able to replicate the designs on any similar website. As far as I am aware, the designer owns the designs, but it's not possible to transfer designs to another site for technical reasons, hence the need to re-create the designs. I registered a nonsense .com domain which I thought would make a good brand name, and applied it to the top back of each shirt in small lettering, to be visible but not obtrusive. I set up domain forwarding to my "store" page on the site I created the t-shirts. It is really fun, I had a great time, it wasn't like work at, I was being creative and chuckling to myself at the same time! It may well be financially worthwhile, but I need to resolve all the aforementioned problems, before rolling things out. I hope this helps.
All the best,
Brandon

I thought about Zazzle & Cafepress but felt the final products ended up being too expensive to sell really well. What made you stop?

I'll send you an email as these comments are quite long!
In short, if you are based in the US you may not encounter the same problems, except may be the ip issue might still apply.

I've got an tshirt site, have not done promoted or anything with it yet

Slick site too, btw.

Pretty cool. This is going to be a learning experience for me.

Sounds like a fun experiment! Keep us posted.

Will do!
