There are lots of different ways to verify your website. This page has links to my videos and tutorials. By far, the easiest way is to use your SEO plugin.

I agree with you Marion. The All In One SEO plugin makes it easy.

Thanks you Marion

Are you sure this came from google... sounds weird to me.

Verify Website In Google Console With Child Theme

Thank you Robert!

Happy to help when I can Anita.
Enjoy your Tuesday.
Robert

I just renewed my website and Google doesn’t ask for verification again. Very obvious. I like to know the answer as well.

I'm certain that it came from Google because when I logged into Google Webmaster Tools, I got the same message. I'll look at the training that others have provided me here and I'll get it figured out. I'll let you know what works.

I wanted to update a page in WordPress. I can sign into the dashboard just fine, but when I click on a page or a post, all I get is a blank page. Nothing comes up.

Wordpress is getting ready for the formal release of their Gutenberg user interface - Wordpress 5.0. This is a very big deal, it's not like the past updates.

They said April, so I'm guessing any day now. I have a feeling any glitches have to do with this major overhaul. It will make Wordpress much easier to use with a drag and drop interface and the need for fewer plugins to do basic things.

I imagine it's really important over the next few weeks, while this transition happens, to make extra sure all content is backed up somewhere safe on your computer, or a cloud service like SiteContent or Google Docs - even better back up to both.

Thanks for the warning. I'll have to do backups more often until everything is running better. I do have it all in SiteContent, though. I know there are better ways to back it up. I'll have to find my notes on it.

Happy Easter!
Happy Passover!

Happy Spring!

Anita

Last week I posted one article, the following day when I wanted to update the only remaining was the title but the content is empty. I was not able to recover.

I'm sorry to hear that. I had gone to my website, so everything was there. It must have been a glitch, because when I came back an hour later, everything was as it should be.

Happy Easter!
Happy Passover

Happy Spring!

Anita

Yes, have a happy celebration.

It works perfectly fine to me. I hope they help you with that. Godspeed!

I waited for about 45 minutes to an hour and it worked. Thanks for responding!

Happy Easter! (if you celebrate) Happy Passover! (If you celebrate) Happy Spring!

Anita

Was having problems last night. Wondering if it is just making a wave.

Tried and true

Read @WendyG53 wrote. It explains the glitches and why often backups are needed right now.

Thank you all for your replies! I was able to get the pages and posts come up so that I could edit them after waiting a little while. I guess WP was having a glitch when I tried the first few times.

Have a great weekend!

Anita

Seems to be OK

Wayne

Thanks, Wayne!

mine has been fine except for not updating the URL after changing the title everywhere

Thanks. I hope your issue gets resolved. I was able to get mine back after waiting a little while.

great. mine is not a problem just an annoyance.

That's good!

HAPPY EASTER

I hope that you had a great Easter!

I did and hope you did as well.

It was okay. I spent most of the day with a migraine but was able to get up and enjoy it later.

I'm not having any problems, Anita.

Thanks, Frank!

Mine is working fine

Thanks! I may have to contact support then. I will clear my cache and all that first.

For those of you who have healthcare sites, do you have a medical disclaimer? If so, did you add it as a page or did you use a text widget to post it on each page? I feel as if

This is a medical disclaimer I put together from a few. I have it as a footer widget on the website. I also add a piece on each post that is relevant that people with conditions or on medication must seek advice from a medical practitioner.

I hope it is ok with you to use this medical disclaimer on my website. Do I have your permission?
Michelle

Hi Anita, I have a separate page that I wrote up as a disclaimer, and I put a link to in the top menu so it is available from any of my sites/posts. I don't usually have a lot of content that can be considered medical advice, but I don't want to get sued for making a mistake either.
Jay

I have a lot that people might construe as medical advice. I have my medical certifications to think of. I have recently renewed them though I am not practicing. I would like to keep them and to make certain my readers know that the advice I give is not meant as medical advice in the sense of a provider giving advice, but as the advice of a fellow migraine sufferer. I can't afford to be sued, either.

I get that. It is always nice to be able to empathize and connect on the fellow sufferer level.
So its a good idea then to have them on the site somewhere. Do you think it would be too little to put them in on the About me page?

I do. I am thinking now of either creating a separate page for it or creating a banner that I would add to my posts. Maybe I'll do both to cover my but. It's late and I need t go to bed now.

I want to connect as a fellow sufferer and also as someone who can take the medical terms in a research article and put it in a way the reader can understand.

Thanks again!

Anita

It should be there for anything medically related, where customers are taking your advice. Great point.

Agreed! I'm just looking for the best way to put it out there. Thanks for your comment!

You absolutely should. I created a something in Canva to put on all the posts and pages where I'm offering information and recommendations about foot pain. This way it won't get flagged as duplicate content, and I'm covering my butt.

I like that. I would like to do something like that.

It's a great thing to have Anita!

Hi, Mike! I have missed you. (My fault for being sick and not yours). How have you been holding up? Hopefully staying away from the flu! It's nasty!

Kickin in there Anita. I've missed you too!. Exciting times in WA!

Yes, though I didn't throw my hat in the ring on this one. I have way too much on my plate right now. I've had my health, but also several family issues come up all at once, and none of them require a quick fix. All of them will take time and a lot of effort to resolve. Maybe next year.

I am happy for all of those who have received their letters informing them they have been accepted. I hope that it is a big success and that Kyle will offer it again next year.

Talk to you later!

Anita

If it benefits WA it will be offered perpetually!

Without having a website to promote WA, I already have one friend who is going to sign up with the link that I sent him. I don't expect him to until after the first week in February because he is going to continuing education classes for his appraisal business. He said he would have me send him the link again when he was ready to sign up.

Thus, I haven't Anita, but I think or should I say I assumed, you are an affiliate marketer without a medical product of your own but affiliating for someone else who is mandated to a disclaimer to the said products.

You can ask further but this is how I understand it. (You have tried it and it works for you. That is why you are promoting it).

I do not sell my own products. I sell affiliate products, but I believe some people might read some of my posts and use them to self-diagnose rather than going to a doctor. I have medical certifications and licenses, but this is not the proper avenue in which to use them. I want to make sure my readers know that the articles are informational and should not replace a proper diagnosis by the proper medical personnel.

My certifications allow for treatment but not diagnoses, which is in some ways ridiculous because a paramedic has to diagnose a little in order to treat. We look at EKGs, for example, and we know whether is a indicates heart attack or heart failure, but we cannot officially diagnose for that. We can only treat it. It is the job of the doctor at the hospital to run tests we cannot and to fully diagnose patients.

I do not wish to be sued because someone took something in a way in which it was not intended. Readers do not always understand the role of an affiliate marketer. They do not always understand what we know to be true and that can be used legally. One should always make sure the cover for any eventuality, especially where their livelihoods are concerned.

Thanks for your comment, though.

Anita

Hi Anita, I am in the self hypnosis niche and I have just made the point of tellng people to visit their Doctor before undergoing any other forms of treatment, or at least until they have a full diagnosis of the specific problem.

I usually word this into the article itself, but I only really write this for the more serious of health topics.

I think having a medical disclaimer is a good idea. I would create one as a page and place either in the menu, or in the footer of the website.

I hope this helps

It does help, Christian. Thank you. I also word into the articles that if the reader suspects they have migraines that they need to be under the care of a doctor or other headache specialist (PA or NP). I just want to make sure I am covered.

I have certifications that I would like to keep, though I am not currently using them. I have thought of volunteering with the local fire department and would need them for that. I am also thinking of getting back on the list of people in the community who are available to help in a disaster.

Thanks for responding!

Anita

I was wondering if the images in the images found in the SiteContent Images pool already compressed, or do they need to be compressed before use in my content?

What have

You can use various software to reduce them. I use Paint (not the Windows Paint) from http://getpaint.net . it's free lightweight, easy to learn, has layers and is more than enough for editing pictures for web. (NB! If you go to download it, use the blue text link at the upper right side, where it says "Get it now". The green buttons are stupid ads that will make you download things you don't want.)

I manage to get full with 1920x1042 pixels wide images down to under 90 kb before posting.
I think most software lets you choose image quality when saving.

The physical pixel size of the images has nothing to do with the file size. You can have a 200x100 picture that is heavier to load than a 1920x1042.

Bright images with lots of white are normally harder to compress than darker images.

Thanks for the great information!

Good question, Anita.
Yes, when I get images from site content they are in .jpg format, which is very common and IS compressed.

Before I use them, I usually crop, retouch and resize in gimp, the free, open-source graphic image program. When I resize them I have 2 ways to shrink them:
1 - I size them down for use, typically 400 to 800 px wide, depending on how I'll use them.
2 - When I save them as .jpg files I set the compression at 90% which saves a bit more file size.

I assume the EWWW image optimizer plugin can further compress them somehow, but I'm no expert on how it works. I do leave it activated, however.

I just size them at or close to the size I need, and keep them as .jpg files instead of other, less compressed formats.

I don't have them handy, but there are posts or training on how to reduce file size by eliminating multiple sizes of each image, but again, I'm not sure of the details.

Thank you so much!

I read somewhere a reply of Carson that the images are compressed to 1000px to retain the quality. I think myself that's rather still big, most templates are about 500-900px

Here is the blog about the images of Carson

Thank you so much, loes!

They're compressed. I've downloaded a number of them. And to compress others, I open them, use a screen snip utility, and the size is reduced by appx 1/300 th. That's not a typo. Hope this helps! :-)

I know you are accurate in numbers, but that's a kind of... much..:))

Many images in raw form are 1.3 mb. Compressing them like this brings them down to appx 130 kb. So oops, 1/30 th. lol Trying to eat pizza and type! :-)

Enjoy yourself my friend, eat your pizza...lol:))

Thank you, Bob!

On the crust now...still typing with 1 finger. lol

unstoppable....:))

Yes the images are already compressed according to Carson

Thank you!

You are welcome
