The Feeling of Flying
I went flying today for the first time in 34 years. I was exhilarating. I'm not talking about commercial flying here. I'm talking about flying a small single engine airplane. I used to have my license way back when. I couldn't afford to keep it up though because of the expense.
When I go flying, my heart really starts pumping and I feel a great release of energy throughout my body. My pulse quickens and my chest feels as if it expands out and I find I can't help but smile.
I love the feeling of piloting a plane. I am in control and I feel as if I could reach out an touch the face of God while I am up in the air like that. I have missed that feeling most of my life. I get very excited and that feeling lasts for hours after I land.
I realized today thought that I feel much the same way about being here at Wealthy Affiliate and being in control of my business. I get excited about working on my website and talking to all of you here. It's not quite as exhilarating as flying I must admit, but it does come close.
I think that this feeling gives me the energy to get up every day and do what I need to be doing here. When I am writing content, I am creating something unique and it is something that helps me to grow along with my website. When you learn to fly, you don't just get in a plane and go. There is a lot of learning involved. You have to learn what the controls are and what all the gauges are and how they relate to flying. It starts with lesson learned on the ground.
The instructor then takes you up and he will let you try controlling the plane while he keeps his hands and feet right there in case you make a mistake. Gradually, he gives you more and more control. If you keep coming back, you learn more and more and eventually, you go for your first solo. Now that's a feeling!
The same is true of Wealthy Affiliate. You come here and you start with the first lesson. Then you recreate those lessons with your own website. You do more lessons and you build you website even more. Before you know it you will be flying solo here, in charge of your own site and watching your business grow.
I get excited when I fly and I get excited about what I am doing here at WA. That's probably a good thing because now I have the flying bug again and I will need the money for plane rental and gas and so forth. I am working this so that I can make that dream true along with my other ones. It's like when I got my driver's license, it wasn't because I wanted to be able to drive. It was so could get to my flying lessons.
What in your life really excites you? How can you compare that with WA? Can you use that excitement to get you more excited about your business? I'd really like to know.

Very cool Anita, glad you were able to experience that exhilaration! Taking hold of experiences like that give us strength to seek more. Here within WA, I have the ability to build my own business and have all the necessary support via the trainings and the community. To me, that is exciting.
Another aspect of WA that I love is the ability to join together with people from all walks of life, from all parts of the globe. It provides me an opportunity to mourn with those who mourn, to rejoice with those who rejoice, and to offer and receive encouragement.

Nice post. I have landed and taken off behind the controls of a 10 seater with of course a pilot guiding me. I was 17. I loved it, but it was scary. Your post reminded me of the exhilaration even hours later....and you are right it is ground training that must take place before we take off. Gotta know how to land too. I'm so happy you were able to get back up in the air behind the controls! Bravo!!!

Because of my hearing disability, I have always wanting to become a pilot since I was a boy but sadly, the CAA won't allow me. However, there is a website in the U.S. for deaf people who can train and become a pilot over there. Very different regulation compare to the U.K..... There has been times that I get jealous of people like you who can do things in life such as be a formula 1 racing driver, astronaut, pilot, army or even a doctor. I just wish there is a technology for flying a single aircraft plane like you.... Anyway, I joined this site to see if I could achieve something that I have ever possible have to become a successful blogger and help people like you to stay positive everyday... I hope this help?
I am sorry about your hearing. I know that must be a big struggle. It wouldn't surprise me if one day people of all abilities will be able to fly. One of the things I learned today is that most planes now come with screens instead of the old type of instrumentation. I'm sure one day these screens will be able to relay messages to and from the tower. Perhaps sooner rather than later.
Anita, what a rush and it sounds like you had a ball. Great tie between flying and WA and there is truth to the comparison.
What excites me that compares with WA?
Building something independently with a team for support lile we have at WA - Independence as a Team.
