A Niche That I Never Knew
A WRONG CHOICE?
My first niche that I chose is a shaving niche.
This was something that I didn't know anything about. I chose a niche against all the advise that I received here in WA. If you are new to this niche marketing, please listen to Kyle, Carson, and Jay. Choose something that you know about and have passion in it.
I struggled and struggled to learn everything that I need to know about this niche. Thanks to my stubbornness, I chose something that I didn't familiar with. I really wish that I chose a niche that I was already know.
A year passed with this niche. I learned a lot and wrote a bunch of posts. I have a regular flow of visitors, even though they are small in numbers. This is a prove that WA really teaches everything that you need to know about niche marketing. I have an Amazon affiliate that to this day has made me almost USD100. Not big but it has passed its initial website setting cost.
A HIDDEN PATH?
While I researched and wrote everything about shaving, I noticed that my country is lacking its love toward shaving rituals.
I couldn't even find a decent razor, blade, shaving soap, or aftershave. Everything about shaving here is "modern" shaving razors and canned shaving gels. They are not worthy to be called shaving gears, though.
That's why I tried to create my own shaving soap.
I gave some samples to my friends and they liked it so much. They told me that I should sell it.
SO I DID. I registered my brand and I sell my soap.
Indonesia now has its own shaving soap maker!
TWO MARKETS
Now I have to maintain two markets.
One is from Amazon. I need to keep writing contents that will keep people coming in and get my affiliate link to buy their shaving supplies.
The second one is from Indonesia where I have to make and market my shaving soap.
I need to approach a lot of barbershops to promote it. That's my goal for 2017. The selling number target is 20,000 pcs.

I am just letting you know that whatever niche that you choose, just go ahead and dive in. There is no wrong niche.
Especially for you, new members. Just take action and start. DO NOT WAIT for a perfect niche.
I didn't know anything about shaving niche but now I am pursuing a bigger business in it. WA has taught me about niche marketing and it has led me to a way that I never knew existed.

Have you tried selling your shaving soap via Lazada? It has a presence in SEA.
Lazada is my next step. But I wonder if my product has to meet certain compliances before Lazada accepts it.
I am thinking about setting up a formal company for this.

The thing is that this platform really does, it opens your eyes to all sorts of possibilities.
Even if you first website is not a huge success it will teach you vital skills. And this is the beauty of working online. You can just start another website and implement the skills you have.
I have 3 websites, all bringing in an income and all in really weird and wonderful ways!
I have a 4th website I want to launch come 2017 and each time I launch a website it adds more income.

You should start selling your shaving soap on Amazon or eBay too, you could also list it at ListingDock or any other marketplace. The sky is the limit!
I know that I have the Amazon and eBay options. But I don't know if it is feasible to market it outside of my country. The shipping fee is too much.
And I haven't research how they work. Especially, whether or not I should put a certain amount of stock at their warehouse.

Try http://listingdock.com :) You can list your shaving soap only in your country, and you can add shipping costs etc. Plus you can offer different discount codes (for eg one code to market on Facebook and another for email subscribers) and you can also set what you would like your affiliate discount to be if you want it to be more than 10% so this will encourage people to market it for you.
That is where I listed my ebook and I made a good few sales there.
Of course you will also need to market your listing there but it is a cool marketplace.
I have to check listingdock then. Do they use Paypal? I really need to up my game to this marketing and selling thing. :D
That is so cool. A few months back I saw a shaving web page and he said he was surprised at the success and continual growth he was having, he even shared some statistics.
You seem to be onto something good. Maybe in the future you can have an affiliate programme for your products. Well done and good luck in this journey.
Wow! I admire the fact that you knew you made a wrong choice in the beginning but you kept working hard at it anyway... and then you succeed!! It's impressive and inspiring, and as you say there is no wrong niche.

This doesn't sound spammy to me! It's more inspirational and educational! Congratulations on creating your own product. Have you thought of selling your own product on Amazon the way many other people do. This product seems like a perfect product for Amazon FBA. You should talk to others that have experience with Amazon FBA to see how you go about doing this but it puts your product in front of a huge potential sales!
