Change, change is inevitable.

Hello and good evening or good morning, depending on where you are in the world. Hope this post finds you all well.

I have been trying to write this post, well any post, for the last 3 days. Something kept getting in the way or I just couldn't figure out what to write.

Well, today I'm writing about change. We as humans tend to be creatures of habit. Most of those habits are learned early in life and can be very difficult to adjust, alter or get rid of. Whether it be eating wrong or too much, procrastination, smoking (thank goodness I never picked that one up), whatever that habit may be.

Even if we know in our minds that we must change to grow, we struggle with it.

The word change can invoke excitement in some and anxiety in others. I have never really been an anxious person, but I will say that the changes we could be facing in the future have made me a little anxious. I think that this is the reason I have had a bit of an issue getting my post up this week. My mind is full of unanswered questions and uneasy feelings.

Anyway, how do we start to cope with change or make changes to get us where we want to be?

Most of us are not capable of making giant changes all at once. So start with something small and simple.

Example: if you are trying to lose weight, change the time of day that you stop eating. If you are used to snacking late at night, choose to stop eating by 7 pm.

If you do not normally drink water, start by drinking one glass a day, then add a glass each day till you get to where you want to be.

If you are sugar junkie like me, cut yourself back to having something sweet every other day, instead of every day.

Small changes can make a difference.

If you are trying to start exercising, start small. Take a short walk each day or do a few stretches each day. Work yourself up from there. Baby steps will get you there.

If you are trying to build your business, do one thing each day to move you into that direction. Do it every day, then add a new thing to it and keep adding till you have created those new habits.

Answer 5 emails, add 2 each day. Write a post, learn something new. Pick one or all three. It is your choice. Add more as you feel comfortable.

Change can be scary. But, if you bite it off one piece at a time it is not so intimidating. Sometimes we struggle with what changes need to be made.

There are the obvious changes if you are trying to get healthy, or if the changes are to improve a current situation, like getting a better job, or getting rid of something that is bad for you. Then there are those changes that nag at you, but you are just not quite sure if that is the direction you are supposed to go.

I have a feeling that we are going to be in for some major changes in the future, and not all will be desirable or wanted. It is going to come down to what kind of attitude we can maintain through these changes that will get us through.

I personally have been making some small changes in my daily routine and in my choices.

1. No more news. After the last couple days it has just made me anxious and angry and I do not even watch mainstream news.

2. I'm now getting up 1/2 hour earlier each morning and going to bed 1/2 hour earlier in the evening. Working on getting a normal sleep habit started. I'll thank Cassi for this one.

3. I don't eat after 7 pm

4. I'm working on my business every day. It may be something small in between regular chores, but I'm doing something every day.

5. I'm doing something creative every day. This serves my soul. We need to take time for us.

This is a few of my changes to create better habits. I just finished listening to the book, "The 5am Club" by Robin Sharma. I recommend this book, it was a good one and lots of great tips in it.

What changes are you making this year?

I love your ideas, Annette. I, like you, am NOT watching the news. I just can't and much of it is what they WANT YOU to think anyway instead of like the "old" days where they gave you the facts. It gets me upset and that is not where I want to be.

I am also fasting on sweets and meat for 21 days. So far I'm doing ok with it and have lost 3 lbs. I ate WAYYY too much for a few months and it was time to reboot the body.

Have a great weekend. Can you BELIEVE we're a week into the new year????

~Debbi

That is great Debbi. I ate entirely too much junk over the holidays, but that is normal for me, LOL.

No, I cannot believe the first week is behind us already. Crazy how fast it seems to go.

Like you, I've disconnected from the news, as it just makes me angry.

I keep a day planner, and I've added exercise to my list of things to accomplish for the day. I'll feel bad if I don't check it off every day, so that has helped me.

Taking time for oneself is very important; I'm glad you're taking care of you. 🙂

Cynthia, we have to take care of ourselves or we are no good to anybody. I learned tis the hard way. Health in mind, body and soul are vital to progression and success.

Hi Annette,

Change is a fact of life. Everything is consistently changing or evolving around us we must learn to adapt to these changes or we will literarily be left behind.

I like to create a to-do list when I am trying to implement a change in my business.

As you suggested, I like to start small maybe do two things differently in my daily routine for two days, then the next day do three things differently, and keep progressing each day until the change becomes a habit. Then it’s just a matter of time until the next change needs to be absorbed and accustomed to my daily routine.

I particularly like your statement:

“Change can be scary. But, if you bite it off one piece at a time it is not so intimidating.”

It sort of sums up life in general, it too can be scary at times. However, as long as we take each change and dissect it into little changes the overall change seems to be easier to cope with, acclimate to, or deal with.

The change that I am implementing into my daily business operations is I am going to start a YouTube Channel I know nothing about making videos or editing them; so it will be a challenge that I am looking forward to accomplishing.

Calvin

Calvin, you are so right and that is awesome about the Youtube channel. Good luck with it and happy learning.

Changes are integral part to success Annette.
I'm starting healthy food choices and sticking to them this time

Hi Simone,

May iI suggest that you start each meal off with an 8 -016 oz glass of chilled water. You would be surprised by the difference it makes to your body's digestion system, and overall health.

I think doing this was the primary reason I was able to lose roughly 40 pounds in just 90 days, about tens years ago, when I too wanted to get healthier through my eating habits.

The biggest benefit of doing this is it helps your body flush out all the wasteful chemicals that most of us eat on a daily basis.

A cleansed body is a healthier body,

Calvin

Chilled water? With lime? Lemons? Anything?

PM me please. Don't want to take over this member's blog thread!

Yes Simone, for sure. I have been on the healthier lifestyle plan for a bit now. Love my water and eating better is a challenge sometimes, but after 6 years I have lost 80 lbs and maintained it.

Really Annette? Please PM me

Your advice to take change in small steps is great. Thanks for sharing your small steps. I am stopping with the news as well.

Jim, small steps is sometimes the only way to make lasting change. As far as the news, well, I just don't even know what to say, LOL
