That is exactly what we must do. Always move forward, no matter how fast or how slow, as long as it is forward.

Level 1, Module 5 - Setting up your website.

I ran back through the lesson and since the first time I went through it there has been a change. I got to the part where we had to activate the All In One SEO plugin, and low and behold it was all new. I fumbled my way through it, but I then searched out Jay's training on the new AIOSEO and watched it. I now have to go back and check to see if I have it set correctly.

I believe you have to at least be a Premium member to get to the training, but it is so worth it.

So, when you are starting a new website and you activate the new AIOSEO, you will then be sent to a screen, where you will setup the general settings for your plugin. In the old version of this plugin, that didn't happen.

You will be asked what category best suits your website. Of course, mine was a blog.

You will then set your Page Title. The plugin will automatically fill this in with the title for the page you are on in your website. You can customize this though, and that is awesome.

Next we will fill in the Meta Description. This is the information that will show up in search engines along with your title. It defaults to the first couple lines of your content. Again, this is customizable.

Moving on, you will have the option of entering your social media links.

Then, you will be asked which features you would like to enable. Notice that most are with the Pro version. The first two are auto-selected for you, I would leave those. The next one is optional. If you leave it selected, according to Jay, it will load another add-on to provide the analytics plugin.

After watching his training, you can still use Google Analytics if you choose. Just uncheck the box and move on.

I still do not know exactly how SEO works, but I do know that it is crucial for being found and ranked. WA provides us with the free version of the AIOSEO plugin and I am told that it is sufficient. At least, until I learn more anyway.

So, the plugin is activated, and I am one step further on my journey of re-training.

Tuesday Thoughts

It was a beautiful day here in Missouri and I finished painting the walls in the clubhouse. WooHoo!

Now, I just have to put the room back together and paint the doors and a few touch-ups here and there. It looks so much better!

Well, I will let you all go for now, I have some work to do yet before quitting for the evening.
