Just found a newspaper article here in Australia of a couple who have been scamming people for around $100,000 to date offering items that have been paid for and never delivered.

The police are on the hunt for them there are pictures of them in the article so for any Aussie's here if you recognized them call the police we don't need these type ruining our attempt to help visitors online with genuine websites.

All the fake websites do have the .au at the end but that doesn't generally mean it is just targeted at the Australia Consumer but they could also be trying to get overseas visitors as well.

You never know so be safe and be wise who you are buying from.

Just glad all the 27 sites mentioned have been taken down who knows how much more they may have that haven't been detected as yet.

You can read more on the link below from the Newspaper.

Just goes to show when buying online make sure it is from a reputable website with secure payment systems.

This is another reason why we are fortunate to have SSL added to our websites to show it is secure.

So those of you who may be selling items online which would be the majority it is good to update your site within WA and have the SSL turned on.

This has an added advantage of letting your visitor know that your website is secure giving a better trust between you and your visitor.

I have seen many WA sites that still aren't showing as not secure. Some choose not too which is there choice some haven't been around WA for a while and may not be aware

So should you wish to go online to buy something just take a quick look at the website's URL and see if it is secure as a starting point? Then make sure the website have buyer protection as mentioned in the article.

This doesn't necessarily mean the site is fake as the ones in the article but good to be a bit more careful.

Wishing you all continued success in all you do.

Good points to make, Andre. Great to see you again, too. Apart from protecting each other, anything we can all do to help protect the integrity of the net helps our businesses too. These scammers are a scourge we can do without. Best wishes,
Katharina

You absolutely correct we can all help just by being our honest selves with what we share on our sites regardless of the niche we have chosen. Good to hear from you too.
Keep going forward and continue to believe in yourself.
Andre

thanks for the warning, not living in Queensland but will share with my relatives.

That's good to hear hopefully they have not be hit by these scammers.
Wishing you well have a great day.

They are all over the world, here in the Netherlands, we have them too, and once in a while, they catch an owner. But mostly they disappear into thin air

Yep the best we can hope for is they get caught ASAP hopefully these ones will get caught soon.
Thanks for the visit Loes so appreciated.

It was a pleasure, you've inspired me to write a blog right away, 12 Tips Shopping Safely Online:)

That's great but you don't need me to inspire you. As you are going great as it. WA is fortunate to have you here.
Enjoy your blog

Andre

Thanks Andre, have a great day too:)

I tried a whois search on one of the websites but there's no data available. I hope no one buys one of the domain names without realizing that it's been used to scam people.

Thanks for the warning Andre. There are scammers all over the world.

You are welcome Marion yes hope these sites don't become available for anyone.

By the way sent you a PM today.

Have a great evening Marion
Andre

Thanks for the help elsewhere Marion.

Namaste

Andre

I'm glad they are cracking down on the scammers. There are so many fake sites on the internet scamming massive money out of people that it's absurd. No wonder it takes the search engines so long to trust a new site, but I can see why. My niche is scams and the one thing I do know is that I'll never run out of material lol.

Best Wishes,
Deborah

That is true there are plenty of reviews that can be made.

We know that although the above fake sites may be in Australia we also know there are so many around the world.

Just glad these have been taken down and hopefully they will be caught soon.

The main thing is that we as members of WA be honest with what we do both in our content and our dealings with our potential customers.

Even on reviews always make sure the correct facts are mentioned and not just mudslinging for the sake of it.

Wishing you well Deborah in all you do.
Thank you for your comment as well.
