Have you ever noticed that when you have been searching for something online. Within a short short time what you were looking for suddenly appears in an ad?

Just a little while ago I was working on a post and went to one of my affiliate sites to check out some details about a product I am promoting nothing more nothing less.

Shortly within about 10 mins I went to Facebook and low and behold what I was looking for completing away from FB there is was promoting the product as an add.

It had nothing to do with FB and even other search engines like Google I will go to the browser and there is is again same product and I still haven't promoted the product.

So have you noticed this for yourselves it happens all the time with me mostly on Facebook I get to see something I was searching for elsewhere and it appears on FB.

Interesting to hear from you if you have noticed this naturally we are always being spied on by the search engines and especially Facebook but then again what do you expect from them.

Love to hear your findings for yourself

hey hi Andre! ...

thanks kindly for blogging about this ...

yes, there could be tracking cookies that have stuck and also, if you've synchronized, say, your laptop and mobile phone or tablet >> then, indeed, the 'squirrels' will find their way ...

suggest also to check your privacy and security browser settings as well ... and re-programme as needed ...

all the best, cheerio ... ⭐️🎈

Thanks Keisha, yes I always and regularly clear the cookies browsers search history amongst other things and all security settings are fine.

They will always find a way as I said earlier, in this case, it's not a big issue but more of observance of this happening.

It's more of a concerned on what we don't know that what we do.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend and year ahead.
Andre

It's a concept called retargeting which carries a cookie through to various websites that visitors follow. You would pay Google or other advertisers a certain amount of money to carry the cookie through to other websites. Those networks would then display the same ads that the viewer saw previously. It increases your conversions which is why it became so popular.

You could stop it by clearing out your cookies but you would need to do that after every website you'd visit. Not exactly an optimal way to browse.

Best Regards,
Jim

Very True Tim and regardless of how many times you may clear cookies and other things there will always be a way for the many big brothers to know what you are doing.

Just like Google and the search engines know all the keywords use and will always be that way.

Guess at times part and parcel of being on the internet.

Have a great weekend and year ahead.

Andre

Hi,
Yes all the time it happens to me and on my mobile phone. Its quite freaky really and does make me wonder.
Debs :)

Thanks Debs great to hear from you. Yes at times it does make one wonder how much you are being looked at.
Enjoy your weekend time for bed now.
Andre

Hello Apache, yes it does sometimes. The fact is that search results depend on the selection of search keywords regardless of any niche. Thanks for the post!

Yeag, happens all the time. Some sites (maybe browsers?) have a ticky box to serve you ads of things you're 'interested in'.

You might be able to mitigate it by clearing your cookies.

I am no totally immune to ads :-)

Not to me, so far.

This not only happen to product research but can be on anybody too.
Living in a world of high technology, our picture can be taken with the smartphone anytime, anywhere. Maybe, I’ll see mine one day. Lol :o)

Hi Andre
I haven't noticed it on FB, but I do get an ad on my Yahoo news page when I have looked at a particular product. It is a bit annoying, but not to the point that I would pull out what hair I have left on my head, lol.

Chuck

Yea noticed the same not just on Chrome but I use other browsers at times and it is there also when I check my emails with Yahoo the ad appears as well.

Thank you for such a quick response, Andre.

I switch back and forth between Firefox and IE and notice the same.

What bothers me the most is when I get spam in my inbox. I won't unsubscribe to anything that asks for my email address as this will just give them a confirmation of said email address.

Chuck

It's called retargeting Andre, a common advertising ploy

Agreed Gordon and in this case no issue but there are times when they can take it too far as well.
Thank you for your comment much appreciated.
Andre

Yes, absolutely. It's part of Facebook's business model.

I don't see it as an issue, though. Why would I be bothered by ads targeted at my interests?

I always have the choice of following up or ignoring the ad.

My gripe is the plethora of untargeted irrelevant emails I receive overnight (I'm in the Southern hemisphere).

I must get 15 or so every day from "Canadian Pharmacy" trying to sell me Viagra. Not to mention the ones supposedly coming from Stormy Daniels!

Give me FB targeted ads any time.

Agreed it doesn't bother me with this one but have seen some unwanted ads before not Stormy Daniels but the Viagra ones I have seen in the past in my emails I just mark those as spam and move forward.

Thank you for your input much appreciated.

I am from NSW and Heidi who commented below is from SA now we have a great Aussie mixed here.

More starting was when I bought a coffee at a chain place, took it away to a quiet park to check up on FB and loo and behold there is the chain store ad showing me where the next closest store is!

I live in the country where we don’t have this chain so I don’t buy there often and have never searched online for them. This happened when I was in the city for work.

I do not know if this is coincidence but it did freak me out just a little.

Definity not a coincidence Heidi check it out again later with something else and I am sure you will find what you looked at again.
Will wish you a good night for later on
