Google URL Shortner is winding down.
A few days ago 13th April 2018 it was announced that any support given to the google shorten will be wound down and it is being replaced with a new FDL called Firebase Dynamic Links.
However the FDL will not be a replacement for the Google shortlink and from my understand is designed for Developors and not Consumers such as the majority of us.

So anyone who hasn’t use the Google Shortner before or plans on doing so you are out of luck as only those who have used Google’s Url Shortner previous to April 13th will be able to still create any short links.
However this will only last for about a year as it will cease on March 30 2019.
This affects both Devolopers as well as consumers like most of us.
Other alternative suggested.
As there are various alternative we have read here within Wealthy Affiliate such as Pretty Links etc. It was suggested in the above blog post to use either Bitly or Ow.ly as their alternative recommendation.
I have used Bitly many times then at other times I go to the google shortner for a change.

I have never looked at Owly so if anyone has used this please share your insights on what it is like or your recommendation.

Like many other options there is always a paid version Owly has a paid version but they state you can use it for free, although the link is called Qwly when you go to that link it is actually called Hootsuite which allows you to create a free account or a paid version but that is your choice.

Any links you may have used with the above shortner will continue to redirect to where you sent the shortner to.

Great post Andre, I don't use the google shortner, as it doesn't provide the info I require, I have used bitly and owly before, but again I stopped using them, because I didn't get the required infoI wanted and wasn#t overkeen on hootsuite
I now use a tracker which gives me detailed info, especially where my sign ups come from

Thanks for the input Dave interesting these three you mentioned didn't give you want you were seeking.
Perhaps this new FDL may help but I haven't looked into this yet.
Hopefully, someone with much more knowledge of this new FDL might give some further input for the benefit of other members here.

What I was specifically looking for was which pages worked best, and which pages gavce me optins, because for me and I'm sure a lot of others marketing online as a business, that is the bottom
Traffic can be generated from a ton of places, not all of it is productive, however, if you you are getting a ton of optins from say YouTube or Twitter for EG, then you would focus your efforts there & less so on other places
