Death in Family taking some time off.

Hi all

This will be a short post as I am not in the right frame of mind at the moment.

Just an hour ago I had a call from one of my cousins that his Dad my oldest cousin died about 2 hours ago that is 5 pm today it is 7.30 pm here at the moment.

It wasn't unexpected but one that you still don't want to hear.

He was diagnosed with brain cancer 4 months ago which I know its short notice but he didn't know until he had scans due to the many headaches he started to get.

They gave him at most 6 months so it wasn't far off the mark.

Anyway, he was only 68 I am 63 he was the oldest of us all being his brother, two sisters, and my brother along with his two sons and grandkids.

It is even tough to write this as I see many beautiful memories we had over the years.

One in particular when he was with his bikie friends I use to tell my high schools mates about him and the bikes but they didn't really believe me.

Till one day when high school finished and many were heading out of school to catch the bus including me and my mates.

All of a sudden we could hear the roar of what ending up being 20 bikers who came to the front of the school and suddenly stopped.

Of course, there was the usual talk of what the heck is going on maybe heck wasn't the word used by you know what I mean.

The leader of the group started to do a couple of wheel stands when turning up then they all revved their bikes before turning the engines off.

I knew that showoff doing wheel stands was my cousin and they were putting on a display for my sake as I told them my mates didn't believe me and he said I will pick up one day but even didn't expect all the group to turn up.

I had such a big head the next day at school with everyone talking about it even some teaches wanted to know how I know these guys.

Remember back in the '70s when you see a group of 10 or more bikes together everyone always assumed they were some bikie gang but there weren't they were just bikers who love to be together and hand out.

He was my favorite of cousins and also my playing card partner when he visited us at home every weekend while I was living with Mum and Dad and my brother.

Anyway I don't feel like typing any more just to let you know I will most likely take a few days off we need to find out what is happening with the funeral plus here in Australia in the state of NSW where I live we are in lockdown due to the Delta strain going on.

The numbers have been increasing and were to be for two weeks now it has been extended till endo fo July and if the number of case rise it may go through August so it is a wait and see approach by the gov't.

Part of the stick lockdown means only 10 people to a funeral and there are already more than 10 just with the intermittent family not counting the cousins and friends.

So that just rubs more wound to the shoulders so to speak.

Ok that's it I can think anymore and need to sign off. If I can or try I may pop in but not for long will see how I feel.

Just not sure when I will return as it hit me hard even though I knew the outcome was coming.

Just wanted to let you know in case someone might notice me not being here

Catch you all later

Update:

Due to Covid and the many lockdowns restriction given, the funeral will be live-streamed instead.

That is Today Friday 23/7/20 at 1.30 pm so I will be unavailable to respond on be here for a couple of hours. Just to let you known

Thank you

Andre

Dear Apache
It saddens me for your loss. As I read through your Letter to us I was smiling. For I felt the gratitude and happiness you shared with your cousin. How he rallied his friends to come down to meet you at school to put on a show of strength for you. It must have been magical. What rich rich memories of a great time spent together. How blessed you have been. I am so glad that you spend such wonderful experiences together. So remember in gratitude and happiness, Joy for the time. Remember he is watching over your shoulder sharing in your future. Take care to be strong and kind to yourself and your family.

Thank you Joy yes the memories are great and strong. Had to watch the funeral via video due to lockdown which was strange but I was there in spirit.

Andre

Oww, Andrej, I am so sorry for you. My sincere condolences. Pff, I can imagine it's hard you can't even attend the funeral. Hopefully, they have some kind of video service.
A friend of mine died in the midst of severe measurements and we couldn't attend in person. But they recorded everything and later on, we got a link. It's different of course, but that way you can still have the feeling you paid your respect and had a proper goodbye.
Take care, lots of warmth from Spain,
xxx

My condolences, Andre. I know these times can be tough. One thing that will help, from experience, when you're ready to come back to work, if you can just keep your head down and go 100%... and just stay busy with training focusing on the future... eventually, it gets easier as you progress.

Reality will always be there to hit you harder on some days than others... but:

Your brother is and will always be with you, routing you on... and so will we. Peace be with you, my friend.

Dan

Thank you ๐Ÿ™
