Beware Joe Miller back at it again Spam
Just went to one of my websites and got the usual spam comment from this Joe Miller
He has done this to a few members always via the comment section.
Refer to the image below.
In fact, he sent me four in the comment section, within a couple of days so as usual marked it as spam and deleted them.
I know there are quite a few members who already have either received or know of the spammer but this is a reminder plus for those new who have never experienced such actions.
Just want some of you who may not be aware of this spammer who finds out when your website is due to expire or at the time even before then in the hope someone will click the link he provided in the hope of scamming you by paying him your renewal fees.
Joe Miller is a con artist
Never click any links nor respond back to this jerk which is what he is.
Please note
Go to your website and ensure that you mark your website as Comment held in moderation along with comment must be manually approved.
In the second image, you will find the setting I have and have shown two arrows that need to be marked.
To do this go to your dashboard on your website then click Setting then Discussion
This window will show up as below and you need to tick the box required.
Withing the same setting under Discussion you have the ability to have comments placed directly in the trash bin rather than in the comments section if you get some like these.
Below is an image of how I did his
Remember one line per statement or wording but all is explained for you
This is the wording you get as I had to crop some of the image.
When a comment contains any of these words in its content, author name, URL, email, IP address, or browser’s user agent string, it will be put in the Trash. One word or IP address per line. It will match inside words, so “press” will match “WordPress”.
You will find the first four lines are his details so just to be safe I added all four parts instead of just one name or so.
Also, don't forget to save once done.
It won't stop his spam but having any comments he gives needs to be manually approved. This gives you the ability to mark as spam and trash it where it belongs
The same goes for any comments you receive.
Final note
With this Joe miller, he changes his IP address along with the some called website details constantly.
It is always best to have it set in the same way and you can approve or disprove as needed.
Take care
Andre

Thanks for the info, Andre. I just encountered Joe's devious dealings yesterday. I had received an email that I had 8 comments awaiting approval. They were all the exact message you mentioned in this post. It was confusing to me at first because I knew I had renewed everything in October when it was due, so I contacted Site Support, and was told not to click on any links or reply, which I had thankfully not done. However, your detailed directions were most helpful.
Thanks Carol wow long time at least a few minutes no hear hehe glad it was helpful and I got those four comments from him as I had only just renewed one of my websites a few days before so obviously he hangs around the same time to capitalize on it where he can.
Yes, he's certainly a predator. I hope no unsuspecting WA family members got taken in by this unscrupulous guy. I could see him making big bucks diverting unsuspecting WAers renewing their sites paying him instead of WA. So devious, greedy, and evil!
Very True Carol I have seen some members ask about his emails or comments they received so I hope they don't click any links as a result.
The more we help our fellow members about such scammers the better we can control what is not needed.
Enjoy your day really good to hear from you.
Great info!
yeah I have my webpage
with a repeating boot/spam
and even if I had in place that
the comment had to be approved by Me
it has done much damage
has the email are in the hundreds
There's always someone that wants to
to be a jerk!
Have a good day
You are welcome shame you have been attacked so much but great they have to be approved by you which is a start.
You can also add some of their details as I have shown in the third image as well as making them to go straight to trash.
Wishing you well
Andre
Thank you,
indeed I did that!
but every week I have 100 new booted emails,
I believe that I have to delete that website and start a fresh new one and believe me, it's someone within Wealthy Affiliate that did start that!
it's ok
I will find the way...
If it is a WA member that has created issues and still doing that then let Kyle or Carson know also give them snapshots to show what is happening.
they are too smart,
and no fingerprints left... Roboboot, program.
thanks, for the advice
Ciao

Interesting, he came up on one of my websites last week. Sent me 7 messages. First thing I did (for security purposes) was to check my domain, although I was sure it was fine, in my case though the renewal date is 8 months away.
Then I went onto my websites, all comments must be approved, before they are posted and reported them as spam.
Thanks for the heads-up, its appreciated.
That was my first encounter with Joe Miller.
Please note that they are very sophisticated, I have a VPN which would normal block most spam, by using the comment section, they are able to bypass the VPN security and most likely will be able to also bypass any other security.
Once again, thanks for the heads -up.
Most welcome Paul
yes they know what they are doing and also have the skills to get around like the VPN as you mentioned.
The main thing is to be aware of this one and others as well
Enjoy your week ahead.
Andre
Thanks once again
most welcome Paul
