You are similar to an Athlete

When we all came here to Wealthy Affiliate our original goal was to make money online.

We are rookies in training we at first feel like we can conquer the world and make money fast and quickly without trying too hard.

Then like an athlete we may at first present ourselves to be prepared (look at the image above) thinking we are ready but not realising that we are not really equipped with the right gear to be successful online.

If only it was that easy

Eg creating a website, add some links and expect people will buy the product or service and bam we make money.

If you want to be at your peak as an athlete you need to prepare yourself to get from the first image to the next where you are in a better position to achieve the greatness that you are capable of.

You just haven't realised your potential or for some fully enhance your potential to a greater height perhaps even more than you realised yourself.

Hence the Training

Like the person in the first image above, you may feel you are ready (which is a great start to your mindset).

But then you quickly realise there is more work to be done before you are ready to take on the best and more so later to be the best of the best in your field you choose (niche)

Little did many of us know that there is more to making money online than just joining a group or having a website online and thinking bam I am going to be rich quickly.

We are all chasing that Gold somewhere in the world.

Have you given the thought that you are similar to an Athlete?

What are some of the thoughts these athletes have before they got to where they are now especially those in the elite of the elite class at the Olympics for example (or here Super Affiliates)?

At the start, for many of them, it starts at an early age fortunately for many of us here in WA age is irrelevant as you can be 16 or 96 and still succeed online, so in that respect, we have an added advantage as age doesn't qualify to be successful online.

Yet many other factors still exist.

Similar to being an Athlete

WA offers you the training and as a premium member of which you are, gives you many added resources along the way.

However, no matter what they teach and offer it is up to you to become successful online.

So go through all the training in the order given (there is a reason for that) so don't skip any lessons and complete each task and no shortcuts either.

Continue to create content for the benefit of your readers that relates to your chosen niche.

Think of this

An Athlete can learn much from the training but the athlete still needs to do the training, exercises and perform when it counts the most. Then rinse and repeat until it becomes a natural part of you.

Just like you and the athlete, it is not just the physical but also mental preparation that is needed and part of the whole aspect you need to gain that full potential you are truly capable of.

Even then there will also be the need to keep on top of it (think fitness for the athlete or added training or revision for those working online) including self-help books to enhance the mental aspect on many levels.

Hurdles

Yes like an Athlete you will have many hurdles to come across, but through patience, perseverance and determination you will overcome them and easily jump over the hurdles before you.

Focus

Focus on what is in front of you and not around you.

Forget those around you (your competition)

Forget about comparing yourself to others those that are successful already have their focus and that is to be the best.

They don't have time to think about how good you are they focus on how good they can and will be and improve on that even further.

That is why they are successful at whatever they do (this includes certain sports or for you working online)

Giving up (not an option)

The word giving up should not even be in your vocabulary and if it starts to creep up in your mind then you have not focused on the right tasks at hand.

As an athlete, if you are not achieving the goals set out from the beginning (think your goals to set when you joined) then you need to re-address those targets and find the right solution to make that dream of becoming a reality.

You know you have the skill set all that is needed is that belief within yourself and connect the dots to make it a whole picture and not just scatter dots and lines.

Showing off

You may like to pretend you are great (again think ranking) but you are not that great more like fake and your time will come if you keep showing off rather than truly helping.

Have you seen various athletes (boxing is a great example) who love to show off with their words but when it comes to action they get (or will) knocked down when the right time comes?

Great athletes also help newcomers to the field including those who have already begun their journey regardless of the sport ( in this case Niche).

You don't need to show off when pretending to help everyone instead give selfless guidance and do not show off to make yourself look greater than you seem

Those that do show off may take some glory at the start and have increased admirers, some may be in awe of your apparent talent and knowledge but when the truth starts filtering out these admirers will then see your true colours.

Don't show off to make yourself look better to others regardless of how it may seem on paper (think ranking).

Instead

Go back to your original Focus as you have a target and objective to succeed with and that is to get over the finish line in at least the first three positions (think Google)

Don't slacken off either and lost that focus, the hurdles are always there so be focused which is key to your success and don't ever think of giving up.

You are the Athlete more than you realize

The Athletic may be in a race to compete just like you competing online for that number one sport.

You both need to training and keep maintaining that balance in life to stay ahead of the game.

You both need to focus on what is before you isn't that why you came here in the first place?

Sure give advice to those looking for help and support but never take away your real focus which is your online success for the business you created.

Don't try to fool others by showing off and making it seem you have all the answers as in most cases they are other people answers, not yours.

Remember you are not the ant's pants but an athlete who is competing to be the best there is for yourself not for glory and hype.

Be real, not fake when you do that you will find greater respect for being the true you than the fake type deceiving others. Really you are deceiving yourself. Isn't that what WA teaches when you are creating content on your website to be real, truthful and helping your audience rather than selling concepts and false ideas?

A true athlete will be true to themselves and others and show their talents not just talk the walk.

Learn what is needed to be the best version of yourself online and at the same time within yourself.

Ask if you need advice but perhaps you can take further action before you ask is actually do some research yourself.,

This way you are taking action first and if you get stuck then ask you will learn more researching things first than just expecting an answer given by others.

Conclusion (For Now)

Remember for an athlete to become the elite of the elite they need to go through the training, actually apply what is taught, continue to practise and compete along the way to further improve your skills.

You will access your level and work out where you can and will improve for your next race.

You as a website owner will do the same,

You will go through the training as there are more than just the two courses WA has, remember other pieces of training and videos available to you from many members here,

Apply what is taught

Continue to practise when earning while you are learning

Work out (Google Analytics and search console as an example) where or what needs improvement or fixing,

Keep maintaining your website like an athlete would maintain their body and mind health.
