Are you recycling?

Not sure, about where you are in your country but here parts of NSW Australia we have a company called Return and Earn.

It gives everyone the opportunity to recycle items such as cans, bottles and in fact anything that shows a 10c return on the item.

Unfortunately is doesn’t cover some items like milk cartons and other large plastic juice bottles but when you use this you can 10cent back on all items just by recycling.

You can use this refund on either a charity they have, received a coupon which you can use in the shopping store in this case it’s Woolworths or you can have it sent directly into PayPal if you have an account.

I use my papal with the app they have and all I do is log into PayPal scan the bar code provided and when finished it will sent the money earned into my PayPal accounts normally about Half an hour later.

The reason I mention this was that as you build up these itemss not are you helping to recycle but also get a small return for your effort.

Lately each time I been it was so busy I didn’t want to wait that long as I can also go back another time when there are less people at other times I came and they were doing their local maintenance.

Today I just went to the local shopping centre luckily no one was there so there was no waiting time.

So when I finished I earned back $7.80 which may not seem much but over a period of time as items build up I managed this month to earn just over $60.

Pays my membership

Now think about it this month I earned $60 with the $49 monthly membership at WA and at the current rate when converted the membership is around the $66 Australian do so I will just have to add another $6 odd dollars when its due later this month.

Not bad for just returning bottles and cans that otherwise would have been placed in the bin.

It does add up I have seen some people who collect many bottles from bins, around their area and then collect and return for that investment.

As I stated 10 cents may not sound a lot but one person I spoke to a few weeks ago have loads of bottles and cans and that day he earned just over $120 dollars.

So if you have such a place to return and earn then go for it better than being trash and later being dumped in land fill.

Love to hear if you have such options in your neck of the woods.

Andre

Yep, we can recycle the same as you and get money back. It doesn't sound like much per item but it does add up. Of course, we recycle other stuff too that we don't get money back for. All of it is good for the environment though!

That's to hear sis and yes it does add up.
Good to know there is something similar at your neck of the woods.
Do they have steps LOL heheheheh

I put my recycle bottles on a bench in the kitchen and one of my friends takes them away every Friday.

Not sure if SA has the return and earn as I think it may only be for NSW but I know that SA still gets a refund on direct returns for the same price just not with the machines as shown in the image.

Not the same machine, Andre. We have depots where people drive up and return their refundables.

That is what I thought we use to have some of them as well most of these are associated with Wollies.

We recycle in the Netherlands, but don't get paid, sportclubs collect old paper, they get a little money for that, and we have different containers for all other garbage, recycling old iron is most lucurative, but you do need a truckload for that

Yep we recycle paper as well in fact in 2008 Australia became one for the top recyclers in the world.

Here in my state, we have 3 different garbage bins red for general waste, green for things like grass cuttings and yellow for paper and plastics.

At least with this return and earn you get back some for yourself but for the bins, they get recycled by the companies.

At least they are being recycled but there will always be more many can do as well.

Thanks for your input Loes and good to see the Netherlands recycle

We do not earn, we pay the government to collect our recycled garbage.

We pay the local council rates for the general garbage collection but at least this gives many an opportunity to earn a bit for themselves and recycle in the meantime and it is working from what I have seen.
It is a shame you do not earn I am sure it would give some others an added incentive to clean up more

Yes, I think it will motivate too, the streets are a mess in the Netherlands

That is not the only country either, unfortunately. I do hope more is done.
Anyway wishing you a good night as it is 11.30pm here so will do my meditation then off to sleep
Goodnight Loes and thanks for your support as always.

Kids are off to school, one has a free day, he's watching TV and is multitasking with his iPad:)

That's wonderful to hear Loes, May give you some added time online. Great to hear he is multitasking hope for all the right reasons.
Enjoy your day.
:) :) :)

He's nice and quiet:) I am now exploring the new comment credits, I just offered 5 comments, 5 to go>>>
It's a pity, I get every time the same website presented, I have to skip that website because I totally disagree with the subject.

I haven't looked into that as yet but will soon. I just finished a post about half an hour ago as well.

Just offered 10 comments, and asked for 5:) I don't understand yet where the earnings come in, it just said I had 10 community credits and can't be changed for cash

Maybe it takes a bit longer than we thought. Perhaps check it out with Carson just in case.

I just found a blog about this, it requires 50 comments first

Thanks Loes will look into it soon. :)
