Patience is a Critical Factor for Success
There are many essential factors for success. Patience is one of the most important factors.
We take growing tree from seed as an example of success.
From a tiny seed growing into a huge tree requires tremendous patience. The seed contains an embryo, a group of cells ready to form root, stem and leave.
The seed needs to be moistened to start germination process. The root then develops in the soil to absorb water for its growth, leading to formation of stem which stretch up to display leave.
Once the root is in the soil and leave is in the sun, the plant is ready to start growing, which is just the beginning of becoming tree.
To become tall, tree needs water, just as human being needs blood, to move the nutrients, oxygen and other vital things around.
To maintain healthy and strong, tree has to have tremendous patience. For example, water has to move from the root to the tip of the leave. For a 100-meter-tall tree, that is like 30 flights of stairs. And a big tree could use more than 200 litres of water every day. Imagine carrying 30 buckets of water up 30 flights of stairs every day!
Here at Wealthy Affiliate (WA), we all have idea (the seed) and want success (the tree). WA provides all nutrients for us to grow the seed into the tree.
We know that we have everything to grow a huge tree. But we need to have patience to go through the entire process.
We live in a fast-paced society and expect to get everything instantly, such as push a button at Amazon site and get your ordered product in few minutes.
Business is different. It is much like growing seed to tree. Seed becoming tree requires water, warmth, air, light, and nutrients. It takes time and efforts to complete the entire process.
Having patience is one of the hardest things about being human. Most of the time, we want to do it now, and we don't want to wait and to nurture.
We are always in a hurry. Sometimes we miss out on our blessing when we rush things and do it on our own time.

The tree does not realize it is being patient. It is just doing the thing it is genetically programmed to do. We can recognize patience, and apply it when necessary. We need to learn from the tree, that the evolution of anything, be it seed, society, or a website, takes time. Therefore, waiting becomes imperative. Not waiting with no action, but sufficient waiting time for the action to take root and grow.
Evolutionarily, tree and human are adapted to be patient. This is survival of the fittest. Patience is one condition to survive. Humans have the genes, but the environment around try to influence or make the change, which may not work.
Agree with you that patience does not mean not take action. Take action while waiting.

I made mistakes when I joined WA about 2 years ago, jumped around, and had no patience to go through the training in detail. By the end, I have to come back to learn it step by step to build a solid foundation.

You are absolutely right that without focus, patience, and persistence, it is hard to accomplish continued success in any field.
Very true. Patience is definitely required. I try to always have patience, but at times it is difficult to do. Working hard, and having small success which should lead into larger successes makes it easier for me to be patient. Seeing the light at the end of the tunnel is good motivation. Tom
Agree. Sometimes we have to move fast to seek for the light, which motivates us to work hard and smart to achieve our goal.
I was not blessed with patience as a virtue but I am constantly working on it.

We live a fast-paced society right now. Sometime it is hard to calm down and to be patient. I am working on it also.
It is big lesson for me. When I join WA about 2 year ago, I jumped along and had no patience to go through the train step by step. Now I have to come back to go through the train again to make sure I am in a good grasp of the all knowledge needed for my success.

Hi Nicola, you are perfectly right that we need to find patience point, not too much and not too little, the optimal position. I don't know how to pinpoint this. Maybe just through hard work to find out? Everyone may have his/her own patience point.
