Targeted traffic is lifeline for affiliate marketer. I did a test using Facebook ads to get targeted traffic. Here is the summary of the results:

Amount spend: $22.55

Reach: 4536

Impressions: 10,215

Link clicks: 41

Cost per link click: $0.55

eBook sign up: 10

Sign up for my free eBook is my goal, there are 10 people sign up for my free eBook or I got 10 email lists. Each email list cost is $2.255.

This is my first time to carry out Facebook ads. I have no idea the results are good or bad. I would love to hear your comments on my data.

Thanks for the info.

Thanks.

Good question. I would like to know also....thanks for asking...

Try to get some advice and improve future work.

Good information on Facebook ads. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for your attention.

Your first goal with FB is to do testing; essentially you are paying for data. You should create a few different ad sets and compare results. Techhound is exactly right; you are trying to turn advertising into profit so if you put 55 cents in and get more than 55 cents out you have a winner and when you find that scenario it's time to scale. Doing a proper test can be pricey. You should have 4 different images, 4 different angles, and 10 or so different targeted audiences. By combing the different ad images angles, and audiences that will get you 250 some different ads that you can test. hopefully you find a winner, then scale...

Oh yeah and you have to let FB's algorithm do it's work too....a test generally takes a few days; you initial number typically suck and once FB starts getting conversions it'll start showing your ad to more people like the ones who converted...

Thanks for your ideas. I will take your suggestions into new ads design. I feel 250 different ads are too much?

You come up with 4 different angles, each angle has four unique images, and you select 16 different audiences. So you are actually only writing four different ad copies, one for each angle like a "how to" angle, "common myth", "direct sale", etc. you only need to come up with 16 images and they can be similar. find someone on fiverr to do it. you'll end up with 4 different ad sets with 64 ads in each set. I think it comes to 254 or 264 ads. This is the method taught by Mr. Frank Kern; he is a legend in the internet marketing space. It sounds like a lot but it's really not that much work.. biggest work will be writing the ad copy for your 4 angles. if it's too much maybe go cut it in half and go with 2 angles instead of four.

you plan on your "test" going for a couple of days. Watching the metrics and you'll start to see some winners. then you can "prune" start weeding out the losers, and when the data shows some real winners you "clone" those winnings ads and go big. If you are serious about FB ads when you are starting out completely cold with no data you should really plan on investing $500-$700 running your test.. remember this is just driving traffic to your page so assuming your back end is in order this is a great way to drive traffic and convert to money.

Sounds good but I don't know much about Facebook ads. Be curious what others have to say.

Tried and true

Elaine

Thanks for your care.

I tend to agree with tech hound on this. Sharper targeting could get you a much higher CTR.

Based on your stats, the click through rate (CTR) is extremely low (41/10215). Usually, when you have a low CTR it suggests that you could do better with your targeting. Facebook has laser targeting options. Try adjusting those options to be more in tune with your ideal customer.

Whether this is good or not depends also on your funnel. Your call-to-action (CTA) for this campaign appears to be in getting people on your list. There's nothing wrong with that. But, Facebook ads and PPC can get expensive if you don't monetize those lists. You will need to monitor how the people you do sign up react to the offers you send them in the future.

The 55 cent Cost-Per-Click (CPC) is neither good nor bad until you determine how it converts into actual sales through the funnel. If your funnel converts well and you make more than 55 cents then you are ahead of the game. This, of course, is assuming all of the people on the list are buyers, which is not realistic. Beware the freebie seekers and fence sitters with paid advertising. They can decimate your budget.

Hope this helps,
Jim

Hi Jim,
Thank you very much for your insight on the Facebook ads.

As mentioned, it is my first try of Facebook ads. My main goal is to know the entire ads procedure. I have no plan and don't know how to monetize through the process yet.

I am not satisfactory with the outcome. It is free eBook sign up and should get higher number of email list based on the literature. Jason (JasoonD) give nice advice on ads testing (250 different combinations). I will try his ideas.

I like your idea of monetizing through the Facebook ads and selling products, for example affiliate products. It is apparently that testing can get expensive. It is necessary to monetize from the test in order to moving the game forward. Do you have any ideas on how to make money from affiliate products using Facebook ads?

Thanks again for your kind help.

If something is working and meeting your expectations-keep it going!
All the best,
Marcus

It is nice that I get something, but I need to improve my skill on this.

Good luck with this project. I hope it works out for you.

Thanks for your encouragement.

Your results sound great to me! Any new traffic and sign-ups to your list are a good thing. Also, you're branding yourself even further by placing the ad(s). I'm anxious to see what other members here say about their results too.

All the best,
Sue

Hi Sue,
It is exciting to try something new and looks it is working, though it is not reached the best possible outcome. WA is a really nice family. Many are offering help hand. Thanks for your encouragement.
