I'm sure you've heard the expression -
"The money is in the list."
Or some variation of that.
In case you're wondering, it is very true.
So, what's the best way to build an email list?
Give away something for FREE.
You're first thought will probably be - what?
You can create your own free give away ebook quite simply.
You have the knowledge already, you just don't realize that you do.
The easiest way is to make lists.
Think about your niche. Even if it's not affiliate marketing, there is some sort of list you can make that your readers would be interested in.
I'll give you some examples to help give you a jump start. :)

You get the point right?
Now you've made the list, what do you do with it?
In your doc, make the name of each product you list a clickable link. If you are an affiliate for that product, then use your affiliate link.
Now write a very short description about each one, one or two sentences.
If you want to make it look a little nicer you can hire someone on Fiverr to create a cover for you. It just needs to be a flat image to place on the first page and use with your optin form.
In your instructions, be sure to tell them you want a copyright free image. Trust me, if you don't say it - they won't care to use any image and you'll be the one in trouble for using a copyrighted image.
You can also make your own using free programs like Pixlr and Canva.
Turn the doc into a PDF.
If you're using Google Docs - File > Download As > PDF Document.
If you're using Microsoft Word or any other doc, you can use a free online converter.
Now you need to upload it to your website. First you need to make it a zip file.
Open the folder your PDF is in.
Right click on the PDF. Click Send to then click Compressed (Zipped) folder
In your dashboard, click on Media then add new.
Click select files, then locate your zipped file and add it to your media file.
Now you want to create a page for your file.
In dashboard, go to pages then add new.
Give the page the title of your book.
Click inside the text editor.
Click Add Media.
Click on the zip file you just uploaded then click on Insert Into Page.
Publish your page but do not add it to your menu.
There are other ways this can be done. I'm just showing one example.
Now you will need to add this page as the thank you page in your autoresponder.
If you don't know how to do this, check the help pages for your particular autoresponder.
Now you have something free to giveaway in exchange for someone's email.
Unfortunately there is more to it than that.
Now you have people signing up to your list but what is going to keep them there?
You need to build a relationship with them.
Decide how often you will send out emails and newsletters.
In your newsletter, relate some personal things such as movies you recently watched.
Give top tips at the end of each one.
You want them to relate to you.
Don't sell in every email you send out.
It's okay to sell to your list. After all, that is the point of having a list.
But if you sell in every email, you won't have that list for long as everyone will un-subscribe.
Always - Always - Always
Provide value to your list. Whether it's a newsletter or you're selling - give something of value to them.
