It probably means Wordpress.COM which is a different thing from Wordpress.ORG
If you signed up to Gravatar, you should already have a Wordpress.COM account, if not, just go to www.wordpress.com and open an entirely new account there.

I believe embedding someone else's video on my blog is illegal. Hoverer, how about mentioning their video and providing a link in description?

Embedding videos from YouTube is perfectly legal as long as they have Share option.
As for links of any kind, it is your site and only you decide about it.
