Not Everything Goes To Plan!
Hi guys! I thought I would share something with you today that just goes to show that although we are all striving for success, not everything will go to plan.
I recently spent quite a lot of time revamping my Wealthy Affiliate review page on my site. The goal was to improve conversions and make it the best review that I could possibly make! As many of you will know, there are a lot of Wealthy Affiliate reviews out there and coming up with something that stood out was never going to be an easy task.
After completely destroying my old review I set to work on the new Wealthy affiliate review, covering as many aspects as possible. I was pleased with the end result, but there was a downside to taking the old review down.
Although I feel like the new content on my review is at least twice as good as the old review, Google have dropped me to around page 5 of the search results! Before I made the changes I was steadily climbing on page 2.
Although the rankings will no doubt increase over time, it just goes to show what revamping a review can do to your search results!

I wonder when you did it. In any case, this is normal, too early to make any conclusion. It may be a success in the end.
Yeah, its already doing well in terms of conversions and I like the overall look of the page in comparison to the old one. I updated the page about 3 weeks ago, but it took about a week to complete. Its quite a complex page.
It just proves that even google doesn't do change.
Your ranking will improve over time.
Maybe an updated 2017 WA review would have been better?

Yeah, it has its pros and cons. I learned my lesson doing a review for another product a couple of years ago. I wrote a 2015 review and then wrote another review in 2016. I thought the latter review would rank over the older and updated one, but it didn't! I had to delete the 2015 review and then let the 2016 version climb the ranks.

Did you add a link to the new review from the old one?
It will take the new review a while to overtake the old one - dependent on how active it has been with comments.
I hope you new post climbs steadily.
Yes, I did link from the old post to the new one. I also put the link right at the top of the post, telling my visitors that an updated version was available. I left it there for weeks, but the old review remained with the new one trailing way behind. It was only when I decided to delete the old review that the new one started to climb to a higher position.

Everything is temporary. Just give it a few days. Did you change the Permalink by chance? It sounds as though you did not, just curious.
No, there was no change to the permalink. I half expected this to happen really, I've experienced this before. Yeah, the rankings could go back again, I'll just have to wait and see what happens.
