What is a category used for on your website?
Hello, I have been following the training and I am currently at the stage where I am to write and publish my About Me post. I have done that but I noticed when I view it shows
if you click on posts in your wordpress dashboard - you can then click on categories
if you click on edit uncategorised and change the title to something else - then you are different from 80% of wordpress users.
categories are a bit like chapters in your niche.
taking your main topic, you should be able to break that down into 4 or 5 sub topics - which you will be adding content to.
make these categories and you can assign articles to them.
you can use tese catagories as menu items - so when visitors click on them they see all the post assigned to that category.
it groups common posts togethe.
have fun

Hello,
I sound really silly asking this but I cannot login to my website. It doesn't load. I am wondering if this is common and there is a simple fix or do I have to do some
As stated below, Nathan, but I'm wondering if your SSL certificate is turned off or on--you could check the settings in your site details, and if off, flick to on!
Jeff
It depends...does anything happen or do you just have a blank page? Have you tried a different web browser or device? I'd open a ticket with Site Support to see if they can get it fixed for you.
Why can I not login to my website?

Hello, I have been going through the training and I have come to the part where I am to pick a niche. I thought about my hobbies, which I didn't come up with much such as Gamin
Hi Nathan,
It sounds like you have quite a few great niche ideas...but, think about the one that you'd be most excited to do and if there are products related to it... (and yes, there are products and/or services that relate to all of your ideas for niches).
You mention that you wouldn't be able to help anyone in any of the niches, but I'm sure you can...if you've been doing these as hobbies, think about questions you had when starting out. Other people have them too.
Next, think about how you answered your problem or question that you had...you can write posts telling people what you did to solve your problem/answer your question...that will help them out. So, yes you can help people. Just take it a step at a time...you can do it!
Anyways, if photography is something you really love doing, try that or one of your other ideas...it's up to you really, but pick one that you'd love to keep doing and go for it!
Using photography as an example, you could think about what type of photography to narrow it down a bit and start from there...Wedding photography, Event photography, Sports Photography, Food Photography, Portrait Photography, Wildlife Photography, even Gaming Photography and so many more...look up photography niches, there are many to choose from...and, since you like gaming, sports, food/cooking...maybe one of those would be something to look into more. :)
There are so many cameras and other equipment as well...you could write posts about those and tips on how to use them better on your photography blog along with review posts there too.
No matter what niche you choose, I don't believe you'd ever run out of ideas to write about...start with one idea and go from there!
Hope this helps you some...and again, it's all up to what niche you want to start out with...it's not set in stone, if you find you REALLY don't enjoy or want to keep that niche, you can always start another one.
Best wishes :) ~Sherry
This helps a lot, thank you Sherry!
Thanks for such an in-depth reply, glad the community is so helpful.

Nathan Type Tons of niches on the search bar above--or if that doesn't work type in ledrew--he's a member who has compiled long lists of niches which might jog your memory on something that interests you!

I am guessing that "Cooking" is not precise enough? Would "Healthy Eating" be a better niche?
~ Nathan JB
Yes. Choose your hobby, interest or your passion. Think also if your niche is specific enough. Go for a more specific niche related to your passion or interest or hobbly.
