How to change TG from red to green?

Hi lovely people,

I need a bit of help with the back of my website, where it says "TG" under SEO - my TG's are always blue or red, never green. I have attached a few screenshots of what does it say when I click on the blue box or the red one, as I don't think I'm capable of explaining exactly what's going on ha

Many thanks in advance!

Hi Anabella,

I see you seem to have fixed this now! Awesome! :-)

All the best!

Glynn

Thank you! Plenty of help here :)

Great! :-)

Hi Anabella,

As Diane has mentioned, an SEO plugin provides nothing more than guidelines, and IMHO, often they're not very good.

I have written about this on a number occasions, but simply following exactly what a plugin tells you will not automatically catapault you to the top of the search engines.

That is all about picking the right keywords and topics to write about, and then actually writing a fantastic article that satisfies what a searcher would be looking for on that subject.

Okay, looking at your images, the first one relates to the fact that your WEBSITE title is not showing in your title.

Basically, most SEO plugins allow you to have an article title followed by the title of the website.

Now, I'm going to take a wild guess and say that you removed your site title under your settings because your SEO plugin kept telling you that your title was too long (over 60 characters).

Am I right?

However, now that you've removed the site title, the SEO plugin is now telling you that your title is no longer branded (your website title is no longer in the meta title).

In other words, your SEO plugin told you to do something, you did it, and now it's telling you that you shouldn't have done it.

And this is why I don't use SEO plugins and tend to ignore them.

Additionally, John Mueller @ Google has clarified (over 3 years ago now) that the entire title will be taken into coinsideration for SEO pruposes, irrespective of how long it is.

So, even though an SEO plugin tells you not to have more than 60 characters in your title, Google (who are much more important than an SEO plugin) is telling you that your title can be 10,000 characters if you want. It will cut off the title after 60 characters, but it will still use all 10,000 characters to determine where you rank.

The crux of the matter being, you can spend hours and hours and hours trying to satisfy an SEO plugin, and still NEVER rank in the search engines.

It is a tool that provides suggestions, nothing more.

I did actually write about this last year. Hope that helps.

Partha

Yaaaaas :) that is correct ha ha
I have removed it from SEO title for that reason lol

thank you so much for stopping by and helping, much appreciated!

have a lovely day :)

Also, if I could be a bit cheeky and ask one more question please; there's no rush, just when you have a bit of time - how or where can I find which article has been ranked in Google?

thank you very much again!

Of course, yeah, no worries.

I would say it's probably a bit early in your journey.

You typically won't be getting many rankings or traffic for the first 2-3 months for a brand new website.

You can use Jaaxy Site Rank to check rankings, but this only allows you to check for your target keyword.

Once you get to the right part in the training, you'll learn about setting up Google Analytics and Google Search Console (sorry, I can't remember exactly where it is in the training, but I know it's in there somehwere, LOL).

However, I personally prefer to use Google Search Console (and you can also use Bing Webmaster tools for Bing and Yahoo rankings), which gives me a breakdown of exactly how many different keywords an article is ranking for (even though you write ONE article around ONE specific keyword, you can actually rank for 100s and 1000s of keywords for just one article. Remember that every single word you write is potentially a keyword).

As I say, probably a bit early for you now, but it just so happens (as if by magic) that I've also written about using Google Search Console to increase rankings and traffic.

Here you go: Partha

Absolutely amazing! :)

Thank you very much for your help and truly wish you a lovely day, thank you for your help!

Hi - at the end of the day, the plugin just offers suggestions, it's not compulsory to hit the target on every aspect of your post.

Remember, you are writing for your readers, not for the plugin. If you try and do everything that is suggested, your content can become robotic and mechanical.

I see! Thank you for your prompt reply, much appreciated :)
So, does this mean that Google can still see the titles and not ignore them?
One more quick question: what does "Title, Generated: Not branded" mean? Do I have to brand anything?
I do apologize in advance, as I can already imagine this sounds like a really silly question!
many thanks and have an amazing day :)

Hi - yes, see Partha's in-depth reply!

Google will see your full title, but if it's longer than 60 characters, it will be "chopped off" when it's shown on the results pages.

So, always include your keyword at the start of the title if it makes sense to do so.

And not branded simply means that you must have removed the name of your website from the title which is automatically added to start with.

It's just telling you that you need to do some adjusting to the title. The comments are what you need to do. I can't really make any specific suggestions because I don't know the title.

Hi :)
thanks a lot for your quick help, thank you!
Some of my titles are "How to Lose Weight Fast After Having a Baby? ", or ,"How to Swadle a Baby - A Guide with Steps, Benefits and Tips" - they're all around babies and toddlers and mothers :)

I don't know what it means when it says that it's not branded (I don't even know how to brand a title, if there's such a thing) - anyway I'm sure you can already tell my lack of knowledge is hige ha

many thanks in advance
have a lovely day :)

I ask more questions than I answer. Which SEO are you using? The only way I have ever heard the term "branding a website" used is in terms of shopify and a few other drop shipping companies. Another question... what keyword or phrase were you using with each title? We will both learn about this.
It's important to remember that these plugins are kind of pointers not definitive corrections. I use the Yoast plugin because it is easy to interpret. Some folks really don't like it. Find a plugin that works for you.

Oh dear me! I don't even know what plugins are, let alone what plugins to use ha

I have only followed the training and I think it teaches you what to write in the SEO section - like title, and mega title. It's all alien language to me, I have never heard or used anything like that, so I was just curious to find out what even TG means and why is it blue instead of green...

But hopefully, in time it'll all make sense to me, as all this terminology makes me think I'm a computer school graduate ha
