Out of the loop.!

Hiya my WA peeps...!

I've been out of the loop and not engaged with Wealthy Affiliate for many weeks. Not because of a lack of interest -- that's hardly the case -- but rather -- my other personal and business obligations have gotten in the way, and by the time I sit down to work on the platform, I am too exhausted.

My rank has gone from a 105 all the way to 768, and while that's not the end of the world, I feel like I have a long climb to go.

The bigger issue for me, is where do I begin? I have to get through all my notifications and answer people whom have been kind enough to respond to my queries, and then I have to get down to training again, and get up to speed with best practices.

Maybe a couple of months isn't that long, but I feel like it is a lifetime, and I realize how much this community means to me! I hope I can dedicate some time, every day, to working on my sites, and walking side-by-side some great minds!

Thanks!

Amy

Good Morning Amy,

I know it is not always easy but WA should remain a pleasure and not cause us stress. I know my self that sometimes it can get stressful but then the only option one has is to be selective and pick out some posts here and there. When there are people who write 2 or 3 posts every day it is impossible to read it all. I then let myself be guided by the title if it does not catch my eye out it goes. We are humans, not robots.

Have a great weekend, Taetske

Great advice and thank you! I just have to find my happy medium and figure out what I can handle, and not let all my time go by answering the posts. I've got to spend time on my site...! Thank you...!

I'm sure it feels great to be back Amy. Take your time with beginning again and it will all fall into place.
I haven't needed to take time out but I still get behind at times. That is just due to the nature of this great program and community.
All the best :)

Thanks, Valerie! I appreciate your comments...!

I too have been out of the loop for a couple of weeks due to personal issues but I am back and have been working to get back to my lessons. Since I had changed niches and started a new website I had to go back to the beginning and start over. I'm in the process of doing that now. I am aware of the fact that more people have begun to follow me and I am so grateful for this support. However, I am having trouble with knowing where to go to respond to my messages. If some one can tell me I would so appreciate it. Thanks again for your support. This community means a lot to me because it continues to encourage me to press forward even when I have moments of doubt.

Hi Linda -- not sure what you mean when you say that you don't know where to go to check for messages. If you click on the black button upper left that says ACTIVITY DASHBOARD, that will give you a list of the most recent, unread notifications. There you will be able to see who has communicated with you. Is that what you mean?

All of this time I have been looking at the blue and green buttons on the right and it never made any sense to me.lol Thank you so much Amy

Amy, I went through a stretch of only using my time to work on my website, due to some personal issues that distracted me, from the training as well as the interaction with the community. And I went from the mid 300's up to 800. But now I'm back to work on BOTH the community and having more time on the website! So hang in there! You're not alone!

Steve

Thanks, Steve -- I guess it all ebbs and flows. Most of us are not fortunate enough to be doing this full time and have so many other things pulling us in a million different directions!

Hi Amy...you have a beautiful website. I'll go back to it in a moment and leave some comments. I found so much value on each page. I didn't see an email sign-up and would love to follow along with your posts.

It is a struggle and a juggling act to keep up with all of this, especially when you work a full-time job, along with family and professional interests. It can all feel overwhelming at times. Your WA family is always here for you. :)

Sue

Thank you, Sue -- that is very sweet and thank you for the kind words about my site. I don't have an email sign-up yet, because, well, quite frankly, I just don't have the time to set up an e-newsletter to go out to anyone -- it's just too much work right now. What else would I do with the emails...? I have a feeling that I am missing something here.
Thanks,
/a.

Amy, you're doing a great job. No need to worry about an email signup. Your posts are informative and so well written. I've saved your site in my favorites, so I can keep checking back for new posts.
All the best to you,
Sue

Thank you again, and thank you for the lovely comment on my site. Please share your URL with me so that I may return the favor...!

Hi Amy. Don't worry at all about the ranking. There was a major shake up a few months ago anyway so you might have fallen down at that time anyway. Who knows!

Don't worry about any of it, just go at your own pace! I know how you feel. I stopped working on my site last year for a few months and it felt overwhelming when I came back. This year I have been really busy and not had enough time to keep up as well as I want.

I have recently learned just how important comments are on our sites. Even if you don't have any new posts you can go to the old ones and request comments here. I started using the comment thread instead of site comments. It seems faster. Getting comments increases your traffic when boosts ranking in Google etc. It also lengthens your posts which also boosts Google ranking. And it lets WA members know you are back and seeing your site. When I got a bunch of comments it rose my post ranks greatly!

WOW really...?! This is so good to know, because I am getting very bogged down in providing valuable comments on other people's sites -- and between that and keeping up with my dashboard of comments and interactions, I don't have time to maintain my site.
Please point me to the Comments thread -- I will try to find it but I'm not sure I remember what you mean. Thanks!

Here is the link Amy. Sometimes there are newer members on there (or those that don't understand what a good comment is) who leave lower quality comments. I mean lower quality as in just a sentence or two or starting out by saying they don't like or have any interest in the topic of your post! This can be frustrating. You can just delete any that are too bad. When it works it is great though since you can move through more comments faster than on Site Comments since you can scan through and quickly see many members looking for comments and what their post or site is about. So you can quickly find something you are interested in to leave a comment and hopefully someone who will leave you a good comment in return.

I am happy to exchange some comments with you directly also so you don't even have to keep track of them there. That is another disadvantage with the thread, it can be hard to keep track of them if you don't respond fairly quickly. Sometimes I have had to scroll back through several days of postings to find mine.

Wow great information -- when you say that you don't always know that a comment has come in -- don't you get a notification on your Activity Dashboard page? Also, I get emails every time someone leaves me a comment on my website, so I am able to go in there and either approve or delete the comment. Know what I mean?

As a matter of fact, whenever someone responds to a thread that I am part of, I get an email. SO sometimes I get like 30 emails or whatever and some of them are valuable -- like in this case, I would flag the emails that have to do with comments, etc.
SO maybe if you can get the emails, it would avoid having to scroll through all your past days of postings.

And yes, we can exchange comments directly. Please send me the URL of your site.

Yes, I use the on screen notifications. I don't use the email notifications generally. It was just WAY too much email and took up too much time. For some reason it is hard to keep up with the ones in the thread. I am not sure why. I guess if I read it so then it doesn't show up as a new comment but then I don't respond right away to both the comment on the thread and the comment on my site AND go to the other person's site to comment for them. So, there are three things that need to be done and if I only did one or two of them then I would have to go back and find that comment to find their link to post a comment on their site.

My link should be with the comment I left on your site post. It is also on my profile.

Hi Amy
Welcome back .... I envy people who can do this full time but most of us just have to chip away at it as best we can. At the moment it is two hours before dawn (that's my time available right now, unfortunately, but till things ease up, I hop in whenever, even if not very productive, lol).

Hey whatever it takes. I would love to be able to get up that early, but when the alarm goes off and it is still dark out, it is difficult to get started...! Can't wait for Daylight Savings to kick in...!
But you have a point -- I think I will try it. Thanks...!

Welcome back Amy! Most important is getting back to building your site. If you can gradually answer responses to previous posts that’s great. I’ve been in your shoes and it’s hard to get your mindset back to business at WA when you’ve been gone for a while.

So very true...! Will take some focus- that’s for sure...!
