Multiple blogs on one site

Hello, and welcome to my first blog post on Wealthy Affiliate. :)

I’ve been here since November, and I love this place. I don’t get to spend as much time here as I initially thought I would, but I am OK with that because I am feeling productive outside of what I wanted to do here. I intended for this to be a long-term thing anyway, so having moments of “away-ness” will be inevitable.

I started on the Affiliate Bootcamp journey not too long after my first niche site, because I see the great value in joining this community and learning from all it has to offer. Kyle’s videos are great and so packed with information, and I’m barely a few lessons in on either the Affiliate side or the niche side…I can’t even imagine how much more I have yet to learn!

I’m actually a small bit further along in the bootcamp, but I decided to switch back over for a bit and show my niche page a little love, because it has definitely been neglected.

The reason for my post today is simply to share a link that I found extremely helpful today. (I have no idea if anyone has posted this before…maybe this guy is even a part of the community, lol!) But I wanted a way to have a secondary “post” page on my blog, separate from the “home” page where the posts automatically go. (Yes, I know you can make the home page static and move the blog posts somewhere else…but that was not what I was going for.)

So, I came across this site, and he made it so easy. Thank you very much to Bob WP at bobwp.com for your very helpful video! https://bobwp.com/how-to-easily-add-two-blogs-to-a-single-wordpress-site/

I had created a page (unpublished) as a draft in my WordPress dashboard to keep this link and others that I might come across so that I can refer to them later…but then I thought that that is just really selfish of me not to share!! So click on the link in the paragraph above for this awesome and very convenient way to organize your page, if you don’t already know how.

(As an explanation—the main idea of my niche page is about my slow-going journey in hula hooping/hoop dance…I know I will want to share some other semi-unrelated things as well but I don’t want to muddy up the page or the main posts. However, since hooping is a part of a life journey, I will want these other life-journey-esque things to be included within the same site rather than creating a completely separate website for random posts. I created a new page that is “Out of the Hoop,” and I made the “Category” (as referenced in the video) a sub-page of this new page…and for any subsequent categories I create, I will do the same. So, I will still have my main niche, and all of the non-specifically-categorized posts will go there, and anything that is marked as one of the specific categories will fall under the Out of the Hoop page.)

I am pretty jazzed about this. :)

Thank you for sharing this. It answered a few questions I had.
Thanks

I'm glad it was able to help you. :) Also sorry for the laaaaaaate response, I actually just saw this as I was reading through what I wrote. ha

FYI. It is possible to have pages which are actually your blog categories so that blog articles in that category will fall on the appropriate blog roll. I have a test of that here

As I'm thinking about it, I'm trying to decide if it would be better to move my "random" posts to my incomforintroverts site rather than hoopraven. I have reasons for having them on both...but I'm thinking incomeforintroverts might be the better way to go. Conundrum.

Does anybody else post random, unrelated yet structured subjects to any of their blogs?

Hi Amber, Great post and info. Thank you for sharing! Just my personal opinion your website black circle makes my eyes feel uncomfortable.

Thanks, viyee! What do you mean by "uncomfortable?" What does it do?

The black and white pattern is distracting. I find my eyes drawn to the pattern and away from the words when scrolling up and down. Hope this helps with your user experience.

That is interesting. I don't have the same issue, but I'm wondering if it's something that many others are distracted by...?

Hi Amber, This is just my personal opinion I share with you. If you and most people feel it is ok then it will be alright.

Thank you viyee :) I really like the background, but I will take it into account. I may see what it looks like if I darken the white a little bit...then maybe the hoops won't stand out so much.

Hope it can help. Very best wish you success!

Thanks viyee!

I have to keep the hoops on the background...but I did change the background color to a dark purple...I'm hoping that this helps the hoops blend into the background a little bit (though they still stand out) while contrasting the text windows enough so that the hoops aren't so much of a distraction. I was thinking of adding more color anyway, so thanks for the nudge.

You are welcome! Check this link may help you, if you want to have other people opinion.

Update:

lol I spoke too soon. I guess these posts do show up in the main feed as well...took me a second to realize that. But that's OK...I will figure out a way to work around that. I'm not ready for a static page yet, but maybe that's the way I will go eventually.

Luckily I don't have any traffic yet, so it won't be confusing for too many people haha...and I am still very jazzed!

OK I'll just make "About Hoop Raven" my static page and create another page for the hoop-related blog posts. Problem solved.

Yeah, I talk to myself in real life, too.

Oh, just kidding--I'm actually further along in my niche site as per the lessons, lol. It's just been that long since I've been active, that I forgot! :)
