Hey Everyone, Please help: Im getting a little frustrated with what should be "simple changes" on my website not working the way they should.
I chose "quick edit," an

Go into your site, click users on the left hand side and add a user then add yourself hope that helps

This happened to me at the beginning when I was constructing my site... but in my case, what I did is that I created a new username under "User" with Administrator role... I log out, and I logged in with my new user... and I deleted the admin user... at that moment the system asks if you want to change all the admin content to the new user and that's it... but I did it for security reasons, to delete the admin from my website... if you do this, be extremely careful so you don't lose the information you already have, that's why the new user must have an Administrator role.

Thank you! You are the only one that actually understood my question haha. I HAD completed all the steps and added myself as a new user, WITH an admin role, and had edited all my work in order to show that I was the author -- but it was still showing up as "admin" when viewing my website. So i did what you described and I simply deleted the original "admin". Now when I view my site, it does not accredit my work to "admin", however it does not have my name either. It just has the date. Hmmm

mmm, weird... what is the theme you're using?

Amplify. I am having a few other gliches as well. I am having trouble changing the font of my Website Title that displays on the home page of my website. AND, I transferred all my content from my original rubix site to my new domain several weeks ago, however the site description is the one that belongs to my OLD subix site (it looks ridiculous in the google search as the site description does not really make sense with the site title and domain. arrrgh

OH INTERESTING --- i went into themes and did a "live preview" of a different theme, and sure enough, my name is credited as the author of all my work! I guess it was a gliche in that theme! huh

:S ... Yes, this look like a glitch of the theme... I installed one theme as a test: http://h128.direct.foolaround.siterubix.com/hello-world and it's happening to me the same, the name disappeared... maybe you should try and ask the developer directly: http://flyfreemedia.com/forums/forum/amplify/ they should answer your question or provide you a guide on this particular theme... let me know how this go...

Hi Alyssa, once you make the changes to your name and nick name in the text boxes for your posts, only when you reply to new post comments will your personal name changes be displayed in your post reply.
You can also create a new user as well to reply on your posts.
Hope that helps.

So the content that I have written (my blogs and articles) will always say "admin" as the author? Thank you

Here are the perfect steps:

1) Login into wordpress admin area.
2) Click on Edit in the Posts section.
3) Select the posts for which you need to edit the author details.
4) From the top there is drop down for bulk actions -> select edit and apply.
5) Now, you can change author, comment, status, pings, sticky, categories etc..,
6) After changing the value of author..click on update posts..

Thank you, bu I guess you did not fully read my question. I DID these steps days ago and changed the author in the back office of word press. In my admin area, I HAVE changed every single piece of content to have the author reading correctly. However when you view my website, each piece of content still has "admin" as the author. My website is not reading the changes I have made in wordpress.

How do remove the words "Projects" and "Services" from my theme home page. The Theme is called 'High Responsive"

Hello again Alyssa.

Scratch those previous steps that I gave you, I got curious and downloaded your theme to test it out. I found the problem.

Go to Dashboard > Appearance > Theme Options. In General Settings, there is a section in the middle of the page called "Text Title". Click the box that says "Enable text-based Site Title". Then click Save Options at the bottom. Go set your title, and it will work now.

YAY YAY! problem solved! Thank you so much! I would have never figured that out. That also shows me that I can add my brand logo through that method as well. Maybe these steps should be expressed in a video because it seems several ppl have had issues with a few themes and having similar annoyances. Thanks so much!

HI Again -- since you already downloaded the theme - were you able to see how to change font? Specifically font style and size of the Site Title, and would be nice to know for blogs and different content I will be adding. Ive tried reading a few other answers in WA but the other advice in here doesnt seem to be compatible with Enigma theme. Thanks again for the help!

You're welcome Alyssa.

Some things require you to make code modifications. This change is simple though; I'll show you.

To change the font size and font family of your title, go to Appearance > Editor and your style.css should be selected by default.

In that stylesheet, search for:

.logo a{
font-weight: 600;
font-family: 'Open Sans', sans-serif;
margin-bottom:10px;
font-size: 50px;
color: #fff;
}

You can adjust the font-size and font-family properties to your liking. It's towards the top of the stylesheet, maybe 60 lines down.

If you need to change the tagline, you'll see it's properties a few lines below this one. It looks like this:

.logo p{
font-family: 'Open Sans', sans-serif;
margin-top:5px;
color: #fff;
}

If you're looking for different font-families to use, here is a great resource to have: http://www.cssfontstack.com/

My gosh -- that is definitely NOT SIMPLE haha - for a person that does not speak in computer codes. Hmm I copied and pasted the font family I wanted to use , and then hit update, but still no change when i go back and look at the site. I do appreciate the help, I dont want to cause more work for you!

Lol, sorry for saying it was simple. Make sure you copied the format correctly and that it's one of the core web fonts. Some other fonts you have to reference before using, like Google fonts for instance. The fonts on the site that I gave you are safe though.

try this:

.logo a{
font-weight: 600;
font-family: 'Arial Black', 'Arial Bold', Gadget, sans-serif;
margin-bottom:10px;
font-size: 50px;
color: #fff;
}

NO, Ive played with it a few times. Still the exact font. Shoot - thank you so much though

No problem, but I tried it myself, it works. There must be something blocking it. If you have a caching plugin, clear the cache and check again. I hope you get it working.

i dont know what that means. :) ha hey, i stick to what i know

Are you completely deleted the entire block of code words? or just deleting 500; and putting in 600 for example? Like should i just copy and delete this entire block:

logo a{
font-weight: 600;
font-family: 'Arial Black', 'Arial Bold', Gadget, sans-serif;
margin-bottom:10px;
font-size: 50px;
color: #fff;

and then paste in one that I copy from the site you gave me? Sheesh why isnt there a video on this - changing a font SHOULD NOT BE SUCH A COMPLICATED THING

ALSO -- there are several options on the site you offered me; there is h1 { and h3 { and p { and several others.... ??

I am only changing the relevant property. In the code that I gave you, all I changed was the font-family. Don't delete the entire block of code and don't change anything other than the lines that I gave you.

Also the change that I gave you will only apply to the Site Title and Tagline, nothing else. If you want to change other properties, those would be additional manual changes.

These properties are not consistent between themes because they are developed by different people. The code is there for developers to modify if they want, others may never change any of the code. These themes are basically big templates, so that we don't have to build an entire site manually.

So don't get too caught up in making style changes, you'll probably go through several themes before you find one that you want to stick with. The biggest thing to focus on is building quality website content.

Regarding the caching plugin that I mentioned, a caching plugin like W3 Total Cache or WP Super Cache. They deliver static versions of your site pages to reduce page load times. When updating your site, some changes (like code) you may not see until you clear the old version (cached) of your pages out.

You can go to Dashboard > Plugins and see if either one of those plugins are there.

For WP Super Cache, to clear your cache go to Dashboard > Settings > WP Super Cache > Easy (tab) > Delete Cached Pages (section). Then click the Delete cache button.

For W3 Total Cache, go to Dashboard > Performance > Dashboard > Empty all caches (button at the top)

Here are a couple of videos showing you how if you have trouble

https://youtu.be/eXquzZWdZSI
https://youtu.be/w3eKpu2l6F0

I will look into this some more!

One more question : When I googled my site, the site title is my old site title --- the one I used for my old Rubix site. However when I am in site manager on WA it shows the correct current site title.
How do I change this now on my new Owned Domain Site? Again thank you for all your help - you have been more than generous.

You're very welcome Alyssa. Google has to re-crawl your site to get your latest change. You can sit and wait; Google will eventually get it. Since you are in the early stages of building your site, you don't have to worry about it too much.

For future reference though, once you're building lots of content and getting visitors, you'll want Google to re-crawl more quickly. You can speed Google's re-indexing process up by using Google Webmaster Tools. I don't want to overwhelm you with that process though. You will eventually get to it in lesson 2 of course 5 in the training. In that lesson, Kyle has a great walkthrough video showing you how to use it.

Oh I see... so it will eventually switch over - OK good to know. It relly makes no sense the way it shows in google now!

Thanks so much for all your help!

You're welcome.

Hello Antonio! I havent bugged you in a while haha - I hope you are well. I dont know if you remember me asking you about my site description in google? ---- I bought a domain, and transferred my site rubix content onto my domain, however in google the rold ubix description is still written in bold letters across the top of my website listing --- and it looks ridiculous because it does not really make sense with my new domain website. aaargh its driving me bonkers. You mentioned that google has to crawl it and recognize it -- is it normal to take this long?? Thanks for any help. I am almost considering copying and saving all my content, deleting both websites, and starting from scratch with my domain.

Hello Alyssa,

This theme seems to be kind of buggy. From a quick Google search, I see several people have this problem among others. Try a few things for me.

1. Go to Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Site Title & Tagline. Change the title. I think you've already done this step.

2. If the first step failed, try changing the title from Dashboard > Settings > General > Site Title. You may see the new title here already, but type it again anyway and click Save.

3. If still no luck, return to Dashboard > Appearance > Customize > Site Logo. Try setting a temporary logo to see if Enigma disappears. If so, remove the temp logo, then see if the theme now recognizes your title.

4. Final step, if all others failed. Switch to another theme temporarily, change the title while using that theme, then switch back to the Enigma theme and see if the title sticks this time.

These are all troubleshooting steps because I wonder if certain events aren't triggering properly with that theme. If nothing works, I would consider changing to a more stable theme. If you're having issues with setting a simple title, no telling what issues you'll face with this theme down the road after you've put a lot time into your site.

Let me know how it turns out.

Hi Alyssa, On your dashboard, go to appearance and then to logo. I think you can remove it there.

Thank you - I actually had to go to general settings in theme options, and click the box "enable text base site title" - then it finally recognized the site title that I was providing! Thanks for the help everyone!
