Progress Update - 4 Months
I am finishing up Course 4 Lesson 7, Google Authorship on WA, and one task is to give a status update. So, here I go!
This past month has been filled with developing and adding new content on a regular basis, learning and adding Adsense ads to my site and, to a much greater extent, learning about how to interact with social media. Course 4 focuses on social media, so Kyle's training has been a key part of my learning curve.
I have been studying and developing strategies for working with:
- Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/allyn.beekman): I am following Kyle's advice and not wasting much time there
- Google+ (https://plus.google.com/u/0/+AllynBeekman): I have been set up here for a while and am posting there regularly
- Pinterest (http://www.pinterest.com/allynbeekman/): This was new to me but I've learned a lot; I now have 31 followers (oops, 35 now, up 4 from earlier today)
- Twitter (https://twitter.com/AjBeekman): In the past I totally avoided this one, but dove in this past week; 4 followers
- Tumblr: Brand new to this one, just getting set up
- Reddit: Just starting
Along with this activity, my Google rankings are starting to get better. Where I was ranked in the low 30s a few weeks ago, I now seem to be in the mid-20s. Several of my keywords are now in the top 20 and a couple are hitting page 1. I assume the rise is due to additional posts and social activity (but that's just a guess).
Within WA, my community is growing, which is nice. Some days there just isn't a lot of time to help others and still be able to work on my site. It's a delicate balancing act!
I am working on my first official training tutorial, which I plan to provide this next week.
My plan for December is to continue adding content and interact even more with social media platforms. I also want to understand Google webmaster tools and especially Google analytics better.

What is you WHY? What keeps you motivated? What is you ultimate Goal? Have you received any Results toward that Ultimate Goal?

Thanks, Wally. Good questions.
My why? I've spent 41 years working good jobs and have very little to show for it. Now I'm retired because no one seemed to want to hire me at age 63. I want financial stability and growth as well as something to pass on to my children.
What keeps me motivated? I had a great chance for financial success about 15 years ago with an MLM but I stopped doing what was necessary to continue having it grow. In other words, I quit too early. I won't do that again!
My ultimate goal? Replacing the income I used to have working full-time and then having that income continue to grow. Plus, being able to show my children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews that there is another way beside the daily working grind.
Results? Not monetarily yet. But, I've learned tons in the four months since starting. I know I am still making necessary adjustments in my approach to this business.
Satisfied? Yes...and no. Obviously, the financial result is not where I want it but I try to contain my "I want it now" tendencies.
