By the way, I am having problems with the editor, both here and while creating content for my site in SiteContent. It won’t let me add an ordered or unordered list, and I’ve had a couple of other issues with changing to and from heading or paragraph, etc...

Sorry this post is kind of ugly, but it was the best I could do without using the list function.

Last Week’s Report Card : B+

I did complete the last 3 lessons in Phase 1 of Bootcamp, but I did not get finished with the 1st half of Phase 2. : ( I did get 3 new posts completed, though. The Wealthy Affiliate Review Post ended up taking me quite a while and ended up being fairly long - like 3000 words long! But I am really happy with it because it is very thourough, honest, and fun and easy to read!

As far as staying active in the community, I have knocked that weekly goal out of the park, having raised my rank from the 5000 range to my rank today of 204! Seeing that my rank was 204 it’s morning made me so happy, and I look forward to logging into WA every morning to see how much I improved since the day before! I definitely helps to keep me motivated and involved in the community! Plus, I am meeting a ton of wonderful people!

Finally, as far as my extra credit...No extra credit earned last week, but it’s back on the docket for this week.

All in all, I’m pretty happy with my performance last week, but it can still be improved upon! So this week I’m going to really bust ass and see if I can get all of my goals and extra credit and maybe even 1-2 more posts! Wish me luck, even though I won’t need it since I’ll be working so hard, and so smart thanks to the Wealthy Affiliate Training and Community!

Thank all of you who read this post and offer support and encouragement, and I hope you find it a bit inspirational, as well! Here’s to another busy week of building our businesses! Let’s remember to have fun while we continue to work hard for our futures!

My Goals for the week of July 7-13, 2019

  • Complete Lessons 8 - 10 in Phase 1 of Bootcamp
  • Complete at least Lessons 1-5 in Phase 2 of Bootcamp
  • Create at least 3 new posts to my site (including any assigned posts from the training)
  • Stay active in the community by:
    • Welcoming at least 2 people to WA each day
    • Congratulate at least 2 people on going Premium each day
    • Try and answer at least 2 questions asked by community members each day

And for extra credit:

  • Start working on building my social media channels
    • Sign up and complete profiles for The New You Me
      • Facebook
      • Twitter
      • Instagram
      • Pinterest
      • YouTube
      • LinkedIn
    • Start interacting on the different channels
    • Research which channels to focus my energies on

So there are my goals for the week! I be back this weekend with an update on how I did for the week!

Hi Allison,

Glad to see that you are achieving things that you are scheduling or planning tasks to do on a weekly basis. It would appear that my suggestion is working out for you.

Do you think that by writing this blog it is helping you keep accountable for your progress like we discussed?

I hope it is and I hope you can advance to the level of personal accountability that you no longer need to write this weekly blog to keep yourself accountable.

I mean it is great that it is keeping your spirits up and you are active within the WA community and with your website so obviously, it is helping you a great deal so keep on doing what it is you are doing!

Furthermore, It is presently working for you but the goal is to not have to write the blog and still remain accountable to yourself -- Wouldn't you agree?

I am by no means trying to push into something I am just thinking of your future and your progress. You don't want to have to keep writing this blog every week just to keep you motivated into keeping your website up-to-date, do you?

Just something to shoot for longevity wise!! Just think for every blog you write here is a blog you could have written for your website to increase your odds of making money!.

Earning while you learn is fun, and can be a great learning experience! Keep it up kiddo you'll get there in no time!!

Living Life Large, Calvin

Hello Calvin,

I mean, the blog is partially about being accountable, but it’s also a way of staying involved and sharing my successes with the community. Honestly, the blog has helped, but the big difference came when I switched niches.

Something changed because it just felt right. I don’t know, I’m rambling a little bit, but I guess the point I’m trying to make is that a lot of things are coming together for me now that I’ve found the right niche to start in and have really started trying to be consistently active within the community.

I mean, I’m top 200! Watching my rank climb really keeps me motivated because now I feel a responsibility to really walk the walk with my own endeavors so as not to be a top 200 fraud, if you know what I mean...lol

Anyways, I really do appreciate your support and your call-it-as-you-see-it attitude. I needed that little kick in the ass that you gave me with our first interaction - if you remember that. You politely called me out on the lack of progress that I’d made in 2 1/2 months that I had been back as a member at WA.

Well, I really did need someone else to call me on it, and because of that now I’m doing so much better! I have 4 pretty long posts up in the past 2 weeks and I’m working on my 5th today, along with creating a content plan for the next month among other things.

So thank you, sincerely, for not being afraid to hurt my feelings. Everyone here at WA is so supportive and extremely nice, but sometimes we need for someone to give it to us straight - even if it might not feel great at the time! And I really appreciate you doing that for me!

Cheers,
Allison

Hey Calvin,

The blogs I write here only take me like 15-20 minutes while I’m putting 4-5 hours in on my website’s blog posts - lol.

I’m trying to get my speed up on my site’s blog posts, but I’m sure that in time that I’ll find a rhythm and it won’t take so long anymore.

Fingers crossed,
Allison

Hello there,
I am so glad to hear (and see) that you have done a complete flip around from what you were first telling me in our first encounter Allison. And I am glad to see that you are extremely active now with the community and it is also helping you keep active with your website. It makes me feel good that I happened to voice my opinion to you when I did. I am super excited for you and what you are now accomplishing.

I hope only the best for you, and yes I am a firm believer in telling people what my opinion is straight forward not sugar coating it one bit and no I do not think I have all the right answers. It may not make you feel good at the time as you mentioned, but I want people to be aware of what is really going on. I have to admit that I did have a smile on my face as I read over half of your response.

:-D

I think your whole attitude and approach to this business model has completely changed for the better and I admire you for that very quick change.

When I first started out I had two mentors that lied to me and told me what I was doing was great and it got me nowhere. I didn’t make a single dime for the first 3 years I was involved in online businesses. And the last thing I want to do is what those people did to me.

They strung me along thinking I was on track and accomplishing great feats when all I was doing was giving them a good laugh and burning through my retirement fund.

I guess I could be a tad softer around the corners and I do try to be a little more thoughtful in my comments to others when I interact with them. I was an ironworker pusher for 20 years and those guys you don’t talk nice to and get the job done - LOL If you know what I mean!!

I hate to see people struggling and I want to help as many people as I can the way I know best and that is being honest and straight forward with them. I know as I was coming up through the ranks after tossing those so-called mentors and found me a real mentor I changed. At first when he would tell me things I didn’t like to hear it bothered me and sometimes even pissed me off.

But then I realized he was telling me these things to help me change, what needed to be changed, and that helped me much more than if he would have been like the first set of worthless leaders I followed.

Jim did more than just teach me how to run a business efficiently; he also taught me how to think independently and live a peaceful life on my terms and not someone else’s.

A lesson that many never learn even after living for 80 to 90 years they still live their life the way others tell them to live; and I for one cannot do that!

Thus the saying --- Living Life Large,

Calvin

Hello Calvin,

I don’t know if you’ve read through any of my blog content, but one of the topics I cover is our internal dialogue and how that impacts our effectiveness in all areas of life. I suffered from pretty severe depression for a long while and one day I just had this epiphany.

How do we learn something? I mean physically, what happens to the brain when we learn something? We are building and strengthening the neural pathway and the neural connections associated with that specific bit of information.

Every time we think, or use, the information we make it’s physical connections stronger and more permanent, which in turn solidifies the information in our memory.

So if I am constantly beating myself down for not accomplishing enough or whatever it is, then I am basically reinforcing all of those negative self-beliefs and making them the go to information on the topic.

Which means if I can stop myself from thinking these negative and self-limiting thoughts and replace them with positive and motivating thoughts then I should be able to change my self-esteem and level of self-confidence.

And it worked like a charm. It was almost unbelievable to me that it had been as simple as being hyper-aware of my thoughts for a few weeks, stopping myself when I caught myself thinking “I can’t...” sorts of thoughts. Then I made sure to stop and explain to myself why that thinking was flawed or irrational and after that I would rethink it, replacing the negative thought with it’s corresponding positive.

In just maybe 2 weeks, the negative thoughts I caught myself having dropped to maybe a couple of times a day. By the end of the month, I almost never had self-bullying thoughts anymore.

So by the time I rejoined WA, I had been a pretty happy and confident version of me for quite a while, but a little bit had been lurking in the background and began to manifest in fear of failure as I tried to get going with my cannabis site.

Because of that and a severe lack of ideas that could make my site any different from any other cannabis site out there, I was getting nowhere, stuck in a research loop, so I could hustle myself into thinking that I was actually doing work each day...lol!

So thank you for being straight with me because it just suddenly hit me that I knew what to do. I just needed to realize that I had something to offer - the lightbulb just went off because of our interaction.

Then it hit me. I could overcome a specific fear of failure in exactly the same way that I overcame my general negativity and poor self-image. And I could help others do the same!

And so I did, thanks to someone who was not afraid to hurt my feelings and who decided instead to just be honest with me.
So please keep on being you, Calvin! While friendly and encouraging definitely has it’s place, a lot of times, a little tough love is really what we need in order to see things clearly.

Cheers,
Allison

Great goals, and great progress. Keep up the good work!

Hello again Jessica,

Thank you for stopping by to give me a little encouragement! It means a lot and definitely helps to motivate me to keep it pushing.

Always gotta keep pushing forward through any obstacles that pop up in your path. And a little support goes a long way when dealing with those obstacles!

See ya around,
Allison

Good progress, keep it going
Darren :)

Hello Darren,

Thanks for stopping by to give me a little support! It is always appreciated.

See ya around,
Allison

Blogging can be an issue on WA
I've had that same issue several times. Jim

Hey Jim,

Yeah, I’ve been having a lot of problems with it lately. Maybe we should send Kyle a PM about it. Especially since it’s apparently not just happening to me which is what I had thought until I got your message just now.

I have been having a hard time using SiteContent, also, while trying to build content for my website which really sucks because I want to take advantage of all of the checks that it runs before publishing to your site - it checks for spelling, grammar, duplicate content, etc. which is awesome except for when I’m actually writing the post and trying to format it.

Anyways, thanks for letting me know that I wasn’t suffering in blogging hell alone... ; D Just kidding, except about the thanks. I definitely meant that.

See you around,
Allison

Hello to all my Wealthy Affiliate pals,

I just wanted to warn you about and apologize for the state of my blog post’s appearance!

I am having major problems with the text editor! It isn’t publishing the way I had it formatted in the editor. I was trying to just manually create an unordered list, but it apparently didn’t work out well for me.

Also, some of the headings reverted back to paragraph font, and I tried to go back and fix it, but when I just published it again after “fixing” it, it showed up looking the same as it did before I edited again, no change at all. :(

Sorry, y’all. I tried!

Cheers,
Allison
