Constant need for more time

Somewhere in my dim, distant past I seemed to subscribe to allnighters when aspects of academic achievement were at risk. Whether to cover class inattention or for other reasons, I might have indulged in last minute diligence to make up for such shortcomings.

Nowadays, it is more a case of continued busyness, running out of time or being the victim of malicious gremlins who have learned to shorten my time credits. So much to do, and so little time.

To rectify my challenges, whether for research, for developing new projects that have yet to provide me with the lifestyle to which I might like to become accustomed, or for day to day work requirements, I have found myself resorting to this provider of new, useful time, the allnighter.

Luckily I believe that when I am enjoying what I am doing, and where the returns are potentially large, than sleep is an optional extra. For long occasions in my life, I have been a devotee of Polyphasic Sleep. Rather than seek to convert you to this jewel, I shall leave you to find time to research this subject for yourself.

Lately, with an influx of family members, my home has taken on the attributes of a badly run, very busy railroad station. To maintain a level of sanity, and all the while praying for normality to return, I enjoy my solitary, indulgence in these allnighters.

Great post. See my most recent blog post about time measurement to indicate how critical time is.

Well Mr. Larry, I'm feeling fortunate to read your message today. I get a feeling of satisfaction knowing that there is someone else out there that finds it necessary to give up on sleep so as to maintain our lifestyle of 'Oh Ya, I'm an online Blogger Kinda' Guy'.....just wrote a doozy, check out my eyeballs..
Thanks Larry and have an Awesome Day!!!

Gary

The body needs balance, sleep, work and play, regardless of your age. As sleep deprivation is not healthy....

Thanks for the info, Larry!

Let's not forget the deeper REM phases though, they are necessary for our health.....☺☺☺

The body needs what the body needs. Deprive it for too long (especially when you are older) and there will be a price - is it worth it? Juggling, prioritising, hiding (if necessary!) might be better options. All the best.....

I seem to be more productive at night time too! but yes you must remember to look after yourself! Regards, Lisa

I agree with Jude and do not forgot about the much needed "me" time

I used to be able to pull this off quite successfully, but alas, I think age has caught up with me. It is important to take breaks and to refresh yourself, no matter how pressing something may be :)

Funny and true... As for me, I am much more productive at night time, the setting being a busy railroad or not...I am just constituted this way... But I wake up late and sometimes even have a nap... We can not sacrifice sleep at all...We just do not function right then...:)

I'll have to leave you to your 'busyness' while I get back to my 'busyness'....lol !
