Washing Dirty Laundry in Public
A recent blog post about Hosting at WA, was hijacked by a disgruntled member, who is leaving WA.
It seems this individual was banned from commenting, due to an infraction of some kind, and is now expressing his frustration in repeated comments on my blog post!
For the first time ever, I have deleted comments from a post ... this was after asking him poitely three times to make his case on his own post, not mine.
I then considered deleting the post altogether .. but decided against that, as his points for power users or those wishing to host elsewhere have some merit! Those members with high volume and want full control over their sites will find the WA hosting to be restrictive.
That is totally alright, we all need to "Objectively" review our needs and make a decision as to how to best meet those needs.
What I find disturbing, is not that this member (who is using a free (and fake) membership ID) has a beef with WA .... it is the angry tone and negativity throughout his posts that are disruptive and confusing for the majority of members.
The bottom line is this ... if someone posts something that you do not agree with, you can indicate so in a positive way, and ever offer your reasons ... but do not hijack the thread to your cause! Post your concerns in your own thread if you must, but there is no excuse for rude, inconsiderate and unacceptable comments on other Member's contributions.
Be polite, positive and where you can be supportive ... negativity is not the way to success, in any situation!

Hi Allan,
I read through this and your previous post where a member was “crowing” about how awful WA was and what he was getting for $4.50 elsewhere and how bloody fantastic it was, also I noticed a few other members and added some negative issues into the thread.. I don’t think the other (“successful”) WA members he referred to (by name) would appreciate him telling us they use another hosting site as WA was too restrictive. Surely that alone should have him banned? (Again)
I noticed someone making comments on the lovely Helen’s post recently, how she kept her cool I have no idea. it must be the season or something.
I can understand sometimes this platform may not suit all online business modules, and I see there will be limitations for some.
For me and my venture this platform, this community, this family is nothing short of wonderful. I am happy to read and hear others successes. So 100% agree no dirty laundry here. 👀
Hi Cordelia, yes, it is very unfortunate ... nothing good comes from being negative, even adversity can be dealt with in a positive way!
This conversation could have been very helpful, rather than confusing to new members! Being critical or negative serves no purpose.
It is a mindset that tricks the perpetrator into believing they feel better! In fact, they are building cortisol, which leads to more and higher stress levels!
All is good though, just felt this needed to be said!

I think at times a critical look at a product or service is warranted. I say this as a result of working in a Lean/6 Sigma environment in my past.
We were continuously looking at incrementally improving our products and services or eliminating waste and inefficiency.
I see some of that here at WA as Kyle and Carson roll out improvements.
People using the WA platform will have some negative experiences. Stuff happens, and they may react negatively. Their experiences do not directly affect me, but the underlying cause could.
I like the Latin phrase "praemonitus, praemunitus" which means forewarned is forearmed.
Totally agree with you, Glen, but there is a way to do this! Dominating a discussion initiated by someone else is not appropriate, in my opinion.

I would direct you to the abuse I have got over this past week from a ‘newbie’ who decided to criticise my lack of knowledge about something despite me being an ambassador.. calling me out in live chat. Considering they weed on a new account, they knew A LOT about WA and Jaaxy. . It was not just directed at me though. They also criticised other members recovering from illness, calling them losers. I used exactly the same quote from Bambino’s too. There is far too much ‘Facebook’ attitude around. I also think the British government could do with Using the same quote! But that’s a whole other bed of worms. We do not need these negative dementors here.
LOL ... love the Harry Potter reference ... life is way too short to be caught up in this vindictive mindset ... Sorry that you were the recipient of this abusive behavior... there should be a block button on here ...
Absolutely Allan. As the rabbit said, "If you can't say nuffin' nice, don't say nuffin' at all." Especially using some else's post.
It is understandable that WA will not be a perfect hosting site for everyone's needs but this is a personal decision each of us needs to make for our business. I find WA a wonderful platform and I feel safe building and learning here.
That is in no small part to experienced members like yourself helping us.

If someone wants to let the community know of an issue, they should write their own post and explain their view. Everyone has their own needs and issues when it comes to web hosting--some, like me, are very happy with the hosting we receive at WA, some are happier having their sites hosted elsewhere.
You asked the individual to start his own thread, which was reasonable in my opinion. If he has an axe to grind about WA, it's his issue to deal with, and doesn't need to use your post to do it.
I have had similar experiences in the past Allan. I'm starting to believe that these people ( They never show a profile face or leave any sort of Bio) are most likely from some of the sites that have been reviewed by our members. Jim

As they say, "haters are gonna hate". Best way to deal with them is to turn away, ignore and live happily ever after. :)
I agree with you 100%. There is nothing to be negative about. if you do not want to stay, go, no nothing of saying things. It is a reflection of your character after all when you do things in a rude or negative way.

Well this is just plain stinky. Sort of like my bedroom slipper I had to throw away this morning. I made a misstep in the back yard and couldn't get the doggy pooh removed completely!
Some folks just can't exist without stirring the pot. Sorry you're having to deal with it.
