The community here at Wealthy Affiliate is vibrant due, in large part by the efforts of the members who contribute their knowledge and time to help others to succeed!
The value of this contribution is immeasurable . Thousands of hours are spent answering queries and providing assistance to others who are struggling.
As members, we need to value and respect those volunteers and refrain from asking questions about topics which are well documented in the training and resources on the site. (This is my person opinion)
Live Chat
I have been helping, when I can, to answer live chat queries ..
Here are a few tips to help you find answers and to make the job of the volunteers easier!
1. Always take the time to look up the answers in the Search Bar at the top of the Dashboard, the site is well indexed and any topic will bring up a list of articles and training to help you find the answer.
2. The training is very comprehensive, make the time to take the courses and follow the instructions, step by step. They are tutorial format in most cases taking you through the process. The best way to learn is to follow the instructions and see the results yourself.
3. If the answer is not found or you attempt to follow the instructions and have difficulty but all means use the Live Chat . . that someone can respond and help you. Be sure however that your question is clear, complete and lets the volunteer know what you have already done to resolve the issue.
4. Vague questions like "how do I create a website" are not appropriate for Live Chat .. instead submit a question such as, "I followed the training on setting my Google Verification Code, but it is not working, when I go to Google it says not verified, how do I resolve?"
5. Live chat is not a social chat room .. keeping it focused will ensure everyone is being effective and efficient.
Search Bar
At the top of the page, beside the WA logo is the search bar .. it is very comprehensive and provides access to a huge database of training, answers and tips! It is, in my opinion one of the most valuable resources on Wealthy Affiliate ..
If you are not using this tool you are missing out on a vast treasure chest of information!
Bottom line ..
1. Do not expect the volunteers on the Live Chat thread, to be your Personal Tutor
2. Ask questions with sufficient detail they can be answered without having to go back and forth multiple times. Try to explain the problem fully to help the volunteer respond efficiently.
3. Be grateful for the service provided by these members, out of the goodness of their hearts!
4. Give feedback, showing your appreciation for their efforts .. a comment or mention of how they helped you is always appreciated!

Thank you. As a newbie, I'll keep all that in mind. I can see your point. We can't take for granted all the assistance provided by all the volunteers. It takes a lot of energy from everyone.
Yes, it really does and there are usually a dozen or so who are actively supporting the Chat feature. They deserve a lot of credit for their patience and commitment!

I think the best approach is to train everyone on how to find the answers ... rather than providing the solution! But then I am ... old school! LOL
