Can someone tell me where do you find out if a domain name is available and where do you recommend getting it besides here at WA. Is it recommended to own both, one with WA(si

www.namecheap.com

Is where most of us purchase our domain names plus you get the free whois guard for added security.

Your siterubix FREE site can remain your test website to practice new plugins and such so you don't break your paid domain site.

Namecheap is like 10-12 bucks a year which is excellent for a .com

It's up to you though. There are some members that collectively have purchased from all above mentioned sites.

When you go to namecheap you don't even have to sign up to use the search bar to see if your domain is available : )

Fabulous Fyre!!! I am grateful for you:) I will test out some names I am thinking about and see if they are available. Thank you for your help. I am checking your message now:)

Hi Alisa, the siterubix one is known as a sub-domain. What you're after is known as a TLD or Top-Level domain. WealthyAffiliate.com is a TLD for example. siterubix.wealthyaffiliate.com would be a subdomain.

So, we obtain TLDs from the different "registrars" available online. It's just like registering a car and paying for the tags annually. They usually run about $10 annually. GoDaddy is good. NetwordSolutions.com is another and Namecheap.com is another. GoDaddy is a little pricey. But, there are several online coupons that might help you out.

On the main web page of each of the registrars is a box to check and see it your domain name is available. (no one has it yet). I recommend a domain name that's easy to remember and type. No hyphens and I typically avoid numbers. Add a word or two to the end to help out if you get stuck.

Once you have it nailed down, you will convert your SiteRubix website to the new TLD you have just registered So, there is no need to have both. There is a script within WA that will setup "pointers" from the old site to the new site.

Awesome, thank you Pj. It is most appreciated and I love learning. I am wanting to make sure all my areas are covered.

Hi! I used namecheap to check for domain name availability. I didn't have to pay or create an account to check for domain availability. Here is the web address https://www.namecheap.com/. Personally, I just use wordpress available through WA because I'm a premium member just like you. The fewer places I have to be to manage something, the better! Hope this helped.
