How to Turn Your Blog Readers into Loyal Fans

While all bloggers are seeking traffic, only a small percentage of blogs have found the secret of acquiring loyal readers, who don’t only stop by once, but do so regularly. Let’s take a look at some ways that your blog can have this elusive quality of getting people to return on a regular basis.

Are You Writing For People or Machines?: Before you put all your effort into trying to please the search engines, think about who your actual audience is going to be -hopefully, it will be human beings. It’s humans who sit in front of their screens and absorb the words on your blog, not search engines. As obvious as this may be, you’ll find lots of bloggers who only seem to care about how well optimized their blog is for the search engines. You can and should choose keywords that you want to rank for, but your readers must be your main priority. If you want your posts to get shared all over the internet, it’s essential that your content is aimed at humans rather than bots. Selecting your keywords is actually the very first thing you should do. The time to worry about keyword optimization is after you’ve written the post and it sounds natural and satisfactory to you. Add as many keywords as you want, so long as doing so doesn’t ruin the way the post sounds.

Speak to Your Visitors: If your blog is not building up a solid bond with your readers, then it is losing plenty of ground. If you want your new visitors to continue reading your blog, then you have to communicate with them.

This does not mean that you say a few words to them every now and then. But, you should shoot for a strong connection. Reply to your reader’s comments. Let them see that you are available. See if there are any issues that need solving or just get their opinion after each post. There are numerous things that can be done to prompt your readers to converse with you. But, before you can move on to this step, you have get to know your visitors better. When you have formed this kind of bond, your readers will think of you as a person whom they can trust. While they read your blog, they will see you as a credible source.

Make it Worth Their Time: Pay attention to giving your readers a good experience by making the time spent on your blog wonderful. There should be something sensational each and everything time that your visitors visit your blog. A good idea is to produce a section that shows all of your favorite posts so that first time readers can see them when they arrive on your site. This is so that they can see the best that your blog has to offer. Obviously, this will give them a good indication about how much value to expect in the future. All in all, do what it takes to make their visit memorable. Getting people to notice your blog among the millions of others is always a challenge. Your blog has to be original and valuable enough that people who land on it will have a reason to want to come back.

Best,
Ali

Ali,
Building a strong connection with our readers is key. It's easy to lose sight of that fact and focus too much on rankings.

Nice comment Erica, thanks )

Hi Ali, your recommendation will instil tailoring better writing skills. Irv.

Thanks Irv )

This is good advice. With all the attention we place on research and key words, and getting Google to notice us, it is very easy to forget we are writing to and for people. It's very important to build trust. Our readers need to get to know us, like us, and trust us.
Thanks for the reminder!
