Hello WA!
My name's Alex, I am 30, currently living in Montreal, Canada.

I have been a member of Wealthy Affiliate since October 2007 (over 9 years now) and I have never had a single regret about joining this wonderful community. I have been scammed several times, running after "Get Rich Quick" schemes and MLMs and I was ready to give up on the idea of "online business". And this is when I discovered WA and told myself this would be the last "make money" program I would try.

Throughout the years I have had my ups and down, I have built up a successful online business and lost it due to negligence but then I built it back up, slowly but surely. Live and learn, I guess.

Until mid-2013 I have been busy with many different projects, off and online but now I am concentrating on Internet Marketing once again - this is why you can find me right here on WA a lot more often.

I just launched a brand new entrepreneurship podcast where I interview successful people who share their strategies and experiences. It takes up a lot of my time but I love doing that!

Feel free to get in touch with me if you have any questions about Wealthy Affiliate or Internet Marketing in general. Don't forget to check out my blogs (on the right side of this profile page).

Success to You!

So, I just saw you in live chat and did a double take when you mentioned "many of my referrals..." because I am still early in the game and hoping for my first one. Then I clicked on your profile to follow you and saw you were from Montreal.

I am also from Montreal (West Island, DDO) but I am now living in Gatineau. It's great to see someone from my area who is doing well here. Even though I have confidence in WA, this helps me to feel more secure in pursuing the opportunities WA affords. I feel like I have a very, very long way to go, so it's slightly discouraging at times (because like everyone else, I'd prefer to succeed RIGHT NOW), but I'm hanging in there and working toward my own success story.

So, yeah.... Following.

Hi Craig!

I totally get how you feel since I was in "your shoes" when I first started. I had no idea how to do any of it and felt frustrated more times then I can remember. However, I stuck with it and eventually saw success. It takes time but it's totally worth it.

I just got back home from Vegas last night where I was meeting with Kyle, Carson and WA's top affiliates. The platform is getting quite a few awesome upgrades this year and it will become more and more valuable ;)

Best of success,

Alex

Hi AlexSol,
I am very disappointed as a monthly subscription has been paid from my bank account without my consent.
How do I go about to get a refund?
I tried to e-mail Kyle and Carson but am unable to get an e-mail through to any one of them.
Perhaps you will be able to help? Or who can I contact?

Hi EngelbertN.

It's unfortunate that you didn't understand the concept of recurring membership. It means that you will be charged the same amount automatically, on the same date as you initially went premium.

I have the same set-up for my internet bill, insurance and many other payments - they take the money automatically.

Is there any specific reason you are leaving WA?

You can also cancel your membership by going into account settings.

Hi Alex, I've been mildly addicted to you podcast :-D I want to say thanks for putting it out there, and being so "down to earth" and sincere. As a listener, it's nice to hear of someone else who has gone through a lot of the same stuff that I'm going through.

I have a question, if you've got a moment. I was doing a search regarding noindex attributes not working. I am still seeing category and tag URL's showing up in Google... and I found this question on YouTube that was sent to Matt Cutts,

"Hi Matt, I've been having issues with the no index attribute. In some instances I placed the attribute to block a page but it still seems to get indexed. Even when the page is cached with the no index attribute, the page does not disappear. Thoughts? Alex, Montreal"

I immediately thought this might be you, and was wondering (if it was you) how and if you were able to solve the problem.

I'm using All-In-One SEO so it may be an entirely different issue.

Anyway, thanks in advance... and thanks for all the helpful information you are putting out there.

Thanks for listening to the podcast ;) Always happy to hear from people who enjoy it :D

I am not sure if I ever asked this question... However I remember reading that Google may or may not consider these attributes. Basically it should work but there is no guarantee :(

Hello Alex, I have just been reading your profile and I think many of us, including myself, have ran after "Get Rich Quick Schemes"! It is great that you have been part of Wealthy Affiliate since 2007, this suggests something! I am now following you and I look forward to networking with you and reading your blog posts.

All the best to you Alex, Roy.

First paragraph - Story of my life! LOL Can't wait to make WA my "last shot"! My blog before finding this was about trying to make money online! LOL I'm still hoping to do something with it in conjunction (ohhh big word!) with my WA affiliate site. Maybe I'll have more to offer on that with what I'll learn here :)

Hi Alex!
If I have a free membership and can not buy a domain here. I am tasting the waters and a domain for what I have chosen costed only 0,99 cent elsewhere. I am afraid if I get a free domain, by the time i can buy it here .com may be gone. The thing is that I can not commit to paying 49 dollars from the second month on every month. can you help here??
Reply
AlexSol Premium
The 0.99 domain name will probably cost you 15$-18$ to renew next year.
Reply
EDias Premium
I understand! Very good! Thank you!
Reply
EDias Premium
If I am premium apart from the 49 dollars a month i will have to pay for the domain extra if I own one?
Reply
AlexSol Premium
.com domain names are 13,99$ per year and the renewal price stays the same. This includes privacy which normally costs another $3-$8 per year depending on the registrar.

Also many of my referrals opt for a yearly WA membership which costs about $30/m.
Reply

That sounds better! How do I go about to get your referal for WA and pay 30/month.
I am not a money driven person, but at the moment, we are in a difficult finance state and I am hoping an internet business could help us, my family, to get out of it. I am very grateful for your help so far and I do believe WA is a good place to be.

To get that rate, you need to sign up to WA as a yearly member ($359) per year. This link should work: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/upgrade

Yes, Alex you have an experience with WA since 2007,
So do you "sell an air" or is it possible to sell something you don't own, are they a fake products what people buy on the third part sites, or what ? I am interested with a radio, or music, clips contents, so is it possible to get income through they, or only by sales to gain real income? I still don't get it, how I can generate income ? Any advise to give me?
Reply
AlexSol Premium
I think selling content such as music or sound clips could be very hard because you need to sell a LOT to make money. I am affiliate for Apple (iTunes stores) and I think I get like a few cents per sale which is very very low.

A better way to make money in this industry is not by being an affiliate but rather by creating your own music, sounds, special effects and selling them. Also you could offer such services on Fiverr. I haven't sold there but I definitely paid for several voice overs, jingles, etc.
Reply
Ynuija Premium
yes, thanks, but YouTube is a great niche, but it is not allowed to copy, but it can be directed to own site, right ??? When people click some clips there its possible to make income...
Reply
AlexSol Premium
I wouldn't call Youtube a niche, it's a platform. Yes, you can ask people to go to your site from your videos and you can also make money from views on youtube but the payout is about $1 for 1,000 views.

Ok, Thanks Alex.....good to know....
so must focus on something more reliable...than 1 dollar...

Hi, Alex!

Listen to this 'strange, but true' tale...

I was finishing my level 1 Bootcamp tasks. I'd finished making the first post and was looking for 2 or 3 others' posts to comment on.

While scrolling, I saw a member who seemed like someone I might like to follow, so I went to his profile page. And there, I saw you were one of the people who'd left him a comment.

Here's the 'strange' part of the tale: would you like to take a guess at what I have up in a different tab? (I'll tell you.)

YOUR "EPP017: How to Find a Profitable Niche for Your Business - Extra Paycheck Podcast 17" on YouTube.

I've already watched it once, but I left it up so I could re-watch it as soon as I'm done here.

I just found you on YouTube a couple days ago, so I haven't had a chance to watch a lot of your videos yet - but I love the ones I've seen so far. You do a great job with them.

A BIG "grats" to you, too, for making it to Vegas!

I only have the Premium trial for 7 days. After it expires, I won't be able to make any posts. But, I'm following you here and I'll be watching you on YouTube!

All the best to you!

I will definitly be going through all the materials. WA seems to be highly recommended wherever I read about it.

Again Thanks Alex!

Hi Alex... thank you for dropping a msg in my profile. And yes i need help with regards to Niches. It's been awhile now, this question of what am i passionate about is still unanswered. I asked myself but still i cant get the right one, the exact one, the one. They said what we are passionate about could bring us joy and if channel in the right way, will us wealth. But i cant get what's the right Niche for me, what's my passion. I am an accountant by profession, so i am thinking maybe anything related with that. But i also love self help books, inspiring and motivational books and stories and trainings and classes. So i dont know.... i also like music but i dont have talent in singing lol. Appreciate if you can advise. Thank you Alex........

Hi ;)

I have answered some of your questions in other places around WA. Both accounting and motivation could be great niches in my opinion. The bigger suggestion would be not overthinking it and just going with one or the other. Taking action is the most important thing here and you should be doing it ASAP.

If I was you I'd probably start with accounting simply because you know a lot on the subject and it will be easier for you to produce content. But remember that you are not limited to one niche and one site, once you get the hang of things you could start a second site about motivation and so on ;)

Hi Kelly. It sucks to hear about all of that.

1. If you want to contact someone privately on WA, just go to their profile and click on Private Message at the top.

2. Your profile states you've been a member since September 28, 2015.

3. And last but not least, I would highly suggest starting your training from the beginning by clicking the green Get Started Here button at the top left of your WA account. This way it will be easier to follow along ;)

Stay strong,

Alex

Hey Alex! I had a quick question- I decided to go the cruelty-free makeup route, and I'm thinking about making my site more blog-oriented, kinda following my personal journey switching over to cruelty-free makeup. Does that format still lend itself to affiliate sales? And does that sound like a good idea?

Thanks so much, you've been so much help already!

Hey Kailey!

I think blogs are making a huge comeback these days. I had interviewed a few successful bloggers recently and it made me realize that people are staying away from big sites and are going into smaller niche oriented blog so in my opinion, totally worth it!

Hi Alex, I’m still feeling out WA to see if it’s for me. I”m in my mid 60s and looking for something to supplement/ fund my retirement. I’ve never had anything to do with social media nor have any interest in it. It seems like a huge waste of time. I was going to complete the Affiliate Bootcamp and promote WA. Is social media required or needed to be successful? John
Reply
AlexSol Premium
John, social media is not always required but it surely helps a lot for most online businesses. It's like if you opened a shop in the corner of an an empty street - no body would go there and you'd have to shut down. Social media is like having people talk about your shop and going there to buy stuff. Required? No. Useful? Very ;)

Hi Jallen, following you because you are like me; Im 63 and need to fund my retirement after losing a lot of money during the financial crises, and I have no interest in social media, I don't have a Facebook account. But I'll give you a tip - if I find that using social media will help me become successful - I'll be joining real quick !!
Reply
AlexSol Premium
That's a good tip!
Also people need to realize that they do NOT need to have a detailed personal account sharing their private life with others. You can open a FB account for your business and keep your personal life away from it ;)

Thanks for that advice Alex, I don't know anything about Facebook, but have seen the havoc it can sometimes cause in peoples lives, so will find out about the FB account when Im at the stage of needing to use it.

Hahaha, I know what you mean. And that was precisely my point: If you open an account and don't share any personal details than you can't cause a havoc ;)

Hi Geoff. Yes I also lost a lot of money in the 08, 09 financial crisis. You’re right, if Facebook can help me make some extra money, then I’ll join, as long as its for business only. John
