I have debated whether I would write this post, then thought that I would give it a crack; hopefully, my thoughts and insights may help some of you, to think outside the scope of your journey.

It may not be your usual run of the mill motivating thought inspiring pieces of content, feel free to take out the bows and arrows and take some pot shots at the balloon as it floats on past.

You would have to agree that this online journey is one heck of a ride.

To get this show rolling, I am not sure if WA is what it is by design or evolution, one of my reflections is that the platform keeps evolving and we can keep evolving alongside it, helping us to create the outcomes that we desire. The hardest thing is to follow and apply what we learn, without getting sidetracked. As we know that can trip up the most seasoned campaigner.

Wealthy Affiliate has a life of its own, and if it weren't for the people that are involved, it wouldn't be the place that it is, I think that the community makes Wealthy Affiliate the awesome that it is.

I have just clicked over a thousand days as an ambassador here in WA; it has been a journey of discovery I have learned so much about my self, and in real terms, it has helped me so much with my online business expedition.

Not something that I set out to do, but something that I feel a sense of pride and achievement for the chance to experience this and for the opportunities that it has created to help others.

Some days you can be confronted with the most perplexing questions and situations and others it can be such a pleasant experience to help other people grow and find solutions. At specific points, it has sometimes been challenging, you get so much information coming your way some not so good, to be honest.

The thing about becoming an Ambassador is that there are no guidelines, no rule book. So hence the journey of discovery, you have to find your place and ways, at times it would be beneficial if there were.

Then again, it is business, and you may pick up on the picture that I have created, you learn more by building your vision.

One of the myths that I would like to bust right here is that being involved in the community, doesn't impact your business in a negative way. It can seriously help you in your business endeavors.

For sure, we need a balance, but getting involved can have so many benefits, like all business we don't know until we go there, we try it on for size, and we make the most of it.

We create.

So if you incline to do so give it a crack, you learn so much, which provides a skill set that can translate into so many opportunities.

There seems to be an undercurrent, and at times some folks get a little negative around the concept of ranking here in WA. Until you have been there, the top 200, the top 100 the top 50 the top 25, you don't really know, like life, like business it is about experiences.

Everything we do adds to our experiences.

The point that folks miss is that the learning here inside WA is so subtle, it moves by so quickly you would miss it at times if you blink.

The dividing line is business, and people have this misconception that online marketing is all about creating that website some get caught in this mindset. The thing about online marketing is that it is way more, initially it is all about working on and creating your business, maybe.

I will let you in on a myth-busting secret; it is all about working on you.

When you jump the fence life changes you are a marketer, sure you may at the beginning be still living your former life, but with the direction that you are heading all that falls away.

New outcomes create a new life; the only way that happens is to work on your self and to keep learning, and trying out new things continually.

If you look at folks in the IM space, the successful ones they are pushing the boundaries and continually extending them sleeves, building their asset and knowledge base.

The thing is that we can all do this.

Your job is to work on you and to learn and apply what you learn continuously. Moreover, we will not get things right all the time, take it from one who makes more mistakes than the national average, that is the way it is.

That is where the fun is, and if we are not having fun, then we have just created another job for ourselves and you know what they say about jobs; just over broke.

Thought it was about creating the laptop lifestyle, not replacing it with just another grind style.

Once you transition, there is no going back, and at some point in your journey you will cross your bridge, and you will get the first glimpse of your new life, the one where you are living on your terms.

For people that come to WA, there is a definite trajectory; at first, we can be buoyed along by the community created momentum, many will leave, when that first tank of gas runs out. That first period that is so critical so when dealing with newer folks it can be all about taking that big brother or sister approach.

For many they take to it and get stuck in and start creating.

After a while, you get a sense for where people are in their journey, that can be your contemporaries, fellow members, clients, and customers, the gift of sharing can be that you gain that sense of just what to say, do and react to without thought. Then ever so slowly for some of us, we get the feeling of just what to say and do at each point, where to create that call to action and where to just give value.

In my books that is called the way of marketing.

So in closing out, I would like to thank Kyle, Carson, and Jay and the people who operate in the background to help them to keep this machine seamlessly ticking over, for their tireless commitment to make WA the place of change that it is.

We just turn up and it is all laid on for us, hopefully we make the most of the opportunity

Most of all, the thing that we have here and that as stakeholders we continue to create, is this wonderful community, which continually helps us to develop and extend ourselves at the level and rate that we do.

So, thank you very much, and all the best wishes to you all for the coming weeks, months, and years. If you can keep on creating and when you hit the doldrums, just stop for a breather and then just dig it in and keep going, you will do very well.

We can all achieve if we believe.

Thanks Alex. Lots of good insights and advice here. An enjoyable read too 🙂

Hi, Dave, you are most welcome glad that you found some enjoyment in this post, rolling personal development, and digital marketing together creates the conditions for that perfect storm for the audience, and customer outreach. We are all continually learning as we go and WA is such a good platform to enable us to do that.

How is your journey going?

Alex.

Wow Alex. 1000 days , that's incredible. Jim

Hi, Jim, it is kind of freaky when one sits down to think about it.

The thing is that time fly's by so quickly if we are not focused we can miss it in a flash and nothing changes we are just doing the same things.

Like they say it is far better to be on the field and playing in the game as opposed to, standing on the sidelines.

Thank you for stopping by.

Alex

Great post and I love what you have written about ranking I stopped concentrating on that and I am happy to just work and move forward.

Really enjoyed reading your article.

Well said Cindy, we all of us have to find our own space just like water finds its own level. Once we feel comfortable with what we are doing and what we are trying to achieve, I think that is when the cracks start to appear in that glass ceiling that sits over all of us.

Best wishes as you continue with your journey, hope that you are making very good progress.

Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.

Alex

Alex, this is truly a wonderful and very motivating post. I agree being part of the WA community is incredibly important especially as a complete novice. Climbing the ranks in WA teaches us about the complicated algorithm that goes on behind the scenes to assess rank. And this is just what the search engines are doing!

So by being active here, I have learned that persistent and constant writing helps, Helping people is what gets good ranking. Which is exactly what we need to do with our blogs on our website.

I have learned far more from people about Affiliate marketing, from blogs that I have read, than I probably would have on my own in a year!

Yes of course there will come a time, when content on my website takes complete priority, however for now I am happy working towards an equal balance or joy and work : )

Congratulations on being an ambassador it truly shows the pay it forward ethic we have here. : )

Hi Sara, you are making excellent progress, every stage here at WA kind of has a different phase, kind of like life, little ones do what little ones do and teenagers do what teenagers do and young adults do what young adults do, we all move along to each phase when we are ready it is like you say a natural order I time the business will take precedence.

With the WA flow, everything has its time and place, we just have to learn to go with the flow, our natural flow.

You have a very good understanding and thank you for your kind words.

Alex

I am glad you wrote it, you need not have been apprehensive, packed full of wisdom (your worldly wisdom)
I like the tone of it, and the size of it.

To be honest I wanted to keep reading more, however I have the day job to go to.... I want to make the transition so I will continue to learn from people like you and for people reading your blog and who offer such skilled and patient advice to the newcomer.

Thank you and keep that caravan moving..👍

Hey, my friend and what a wonderful achievement, Alex.
You are an Ambassador alright. You are helpful, knowledgable in many areas and always such a gentleman and I value you immensley.

I also feel I am living a totally different life now Alex.
When I stopped performing I never thought my soul would be filled with excitement, determination and total focus ever again.
How wrong was I?
I feel as happy as I did when I was performing full time and all that running my own business involved but this new life -Well it has a whole new meaning for me.
I haven't faltered since I joined WA and I am determined to keep working as I do every day with a balance of course because WA is incredible.

Thank you for everything Alex and Keep on being awesome!!!
Vicki

Hi Vicki, thank you for your kind words much appreciated.

When we arrive here in WA many of us don't really know where the road will take us or how we are going to navigate our way there.

The thing that immersion brings is change and if we reflect back to where we have come from it can seem like light years ago it is amazing, the journey actually re-energizes us and takes us back to a time when we were in full flight.

I am reminded of that saying if only I knew then what I know now.

Well then is now, and the cool thing is that we get to define the outcomes that we are seeking, definitely well worth the ride.

Best wishes Vicki as you continue to grow and develop your online presence.

Alex

Alex, so well said as usual. You are an inspiration to all of us.

Your statement “Once you transition there is no turning back” is so true. At this point it is no longer about the money but about success in helping and growing.

Change is inevitable and a gift to each one of us. For when we change we move into a new dimension of who we are. We will not want to go back to who we were but instead we will embrace the knowledge and the strength that will move us forward.

Thank you for helping and being you.

Laura

Hi, Laura, you have such a good way of expressing things, definitely more than a few "Johnthan Livingstone seagull " moments on the way through.

We are striving to make money using a different medium that is our normal, at some point, it extends beyond that.

Change is definitely a gift to be shared as we rush headlong through life's different stages and phases. At some point, we can find that place where things just kind of fall into place.

Thank you for your kind words laura and all the best.

Alex

Dear Alex,
I always remember you as the first friendly face to like and comment on my clumsy post. I still feel that way sometimes, new and not sure where to go but each time that starts to nudge at me, I find you again.
This was uplifting and I hate to burst your bubble, but I don't see anything worth debating so unsure where to aim my arrow.

Is it debatable that building here is a distraction from building your site?

Not sure, but I have more than twice the amount of posts here than on my actual website. This is because my learning curve on the website platform does not feel as confident without already invested members, I think.
The ownership within the community here has more acceptance than I've experienced elsewhere. I haven't even met as many nurses who like me as Wealthy Affiliates.
We all take pride of being involved in a community who appreciates us. There maybe appreciation with the momentary time I have with the patients I serve. That is usually transient and there are times the relationship ends quickly.
A lot like when you find a friend in WA but they disappear into online oblivion. Were they suspended or writer rights revoked? Did they quit? The world may never know like a tootsie pop.
I guess I should get to the point and in closing I found the post uplifting. I always enjoy how you articulate and endure.

Thank you & kind regards,
Nurse Becca

Hi Nurse Becca, I am a firm believer in that flow where it does not matter where we are or how we got to that point what is of fundamental importance is where we are going.

Once we get our noodles around that one, it is surprising how quickly other folks kind of want to hitch onto the wagon train, kind of works with that website as well.

So as to building here is not dissimilar to building elsewhere, we are constantly learning and building on ourselves, building none the less, the more we build up our flow the more we achieve, it is kind of a natural order.

People come and go as we travel along, some folks say they have a following but yet fail to see a friend heading for the exit door, sometimes all that it takes is someone to reach out, acquire that empathy and everything heads to another level and that spreads across your whole online position, your life and into the lives of all we come into contact with.

Once we have been here in WA for a while it kind of becomes infectious.

Timing can be key, sometimes we write and create and sometimes it is on a whole different plain, utilizing the resources here in WA definitely tips everything in our favor.

The amazing thing on the flip side of it all is watching people land here in WA and shine, there is something special about life change when it is being observed as an everyday occurrence.

Thank you for your kind words and wishing you continued success.

Alex

Great points Alex, I know I have watched my own evolution since first joining WA. I have learned so much with Wealthy Affiliate.

I was just checking some of my posts in Jaaxy and I see another one that wasn't ranking before is on page one of Bing in position 4, but when I look on Bing it's actually in position 2.

None of that would be happening if not for WA, I'm here to stay.

All The Best
John

Hi John, good to see you, I think that if we have been here a while we can see the difference, unfortunately, some folks do not give themselves enough time to explore the opportunity.

I am sure that some miss the mark by a couple of weeks if not less.

That personal growth and development are worth way more than money in the bank and the funny thing that happens is that it kind of creates a money magnet.

You will be so pleased about your posts ranking, seems to be a process that expands on its self as we move along.

Best wishes as you continue to expand your online presence and thanks for stopping by.

Alex

Congratulations on your 1,000 days as ambassador. You are a part of what makes WA Wealthy Affiliate. I can't imagine your not being here.

I try to avoid commenting on posts where people talk about rank because I worry that they get focused on the wrong things. Yet, you have managed to find some wonderful sense of balance in your life.

I have not come remotely close to finding that balance. Now that the weather is nice and the days are longer, I find it harder to spend time on the computer. So, I don't contribute as much to the community as I do in the winter.

You on the other hand manages to be solid in your level of support even though you spend a lot of time outdoors. Maybe someday I will grow up and be more like you. A girly version of course.

Thank you for all that you do here.

Hi Sondra, good to see you, when the warm winds of spring arrive it is that time of renewal it can be hard to keep that focus going after the winter chill, in the outdoors or country you kind of get an appreciation for the ebb and flow of the seasons.

Each season has its own energy just like the flow here in WA and the flow on our online creation.

The day was spent planting trees in the morning on a stream bank and valley the afternoon was spent learning a new CMS, the evening writing, I think things turned a definite corner when I stopped thinking about making money. I think that is the key to online marketing the key that separates if from normal bricks and mortar.

The ranking factor can be a distraction, but then again it can be a powerful motivator, at certain times people need that energy to get them over the humps, there is a definite ebb and flow to it all.

I hope that you find that place where you are comfortable with it all Sondra, I think I wrote further up the page I think it can be about accepting where we are and that just maybe we are just average.

But then someday's it is not about being average, I am sure that you would agree somedays we can scare ourselves when we get into the zone.

I can just imagine you doing extremely well, that version will work very well.

Thank you for your kind words much appreciated.

Alex

So true. And, you are welcome.
