Some Days at the Office Can be Tricky

Bit of a sticky wicket.

Some days at the office do not go so well, it can always be a case of sucking it up, adapting and finding new ways to create outcomes. This can be especially true when it comes to business and especially when it comes to online business.

Even the best-laid plans can go awry, even if the planning is meticulous, there is that famous saying.

" Expect the unexpected and you will not go far wrong or if wrong does come knocking on your door you are prepared and are ready to sort things out ".

All things pass is a little song swirling around in my head currently.

The tale, not a long tale just some good sense of a tale.

It started last week, I thought I would take a leaf out of Kyle and Carson's book and give Instagram a crack, up till now I couldn't really see the point in sharing a heap of photos, I guess another add on, which will suck up way too much time, dare I say it for little return.

Added to that it had been suggested by another member, that Instagram wouldn't suit my style and would be a waste of time, I kind of went along with that one. The thing is that I had taken on board my own bias and the bias of others, so in doing so made assumptions that didn't really have any basis.

Where does this fit in.

Nine out of ten times we probably pull back just that little to bit too soon, the key can be to decide on a particular train of thought or action and see things through and do it consistently.

When it comes to marketing we are the ones that set things in motion and we are the ones that have the capability to create the outcomes that we want to happen.

The key, of course, is having a definite goal in mind or rolling out that clique a definite ROI. I think too many times we can move onto things online without that total focus and in many cases, we get so damn caught in the middle of the stream, not being able to go back or forward.

The only time we have is to bale out.

Looking online, you don't have to look very far to see folks jumping out of the plane all day and all night long, not keen on arriving at their destination.

When we start to investigate things online there are so many possible outcomes and so many angles that we can approach things from, it is only limited by our imaginations and reasoning.

One thing for sure never put the cart before the horse, kind of see a lot of marketers doing just that me included. In the beginning, you are not going to run a four-minute mile, but going out and doing it we may be really surprised.

Kooked, the sign-up, not thinking, had one of those, drop the ball moments, haven't posted anything yet, got shut out while still in the starting gates. Managed to work through that one, bit of a long story.

So this week back into it, with a definite path and strategy moving forward.

One of the key things is not get caught in the middle and not to worry about what's happening on the starting line, it is where you have set the finish line that counts and what you are doing to get to where you want to be. We all have challenges and issues that will confront us and at times it may feel like we are the only ones.

Not so, folks will have been through most situations and in places like Wealthy Affiliate we can always tap into that experience base and something to think about, no one has single handily managed to break the internet yet so all is good.

All safe, which is good. That was so dodgy, and at times things can change in the blink of an eye, it can be so easy to not focus when we should be focused.

When we are doing stuff on our businesses we should always focus on outcomes and have that why really in front of us at all times, it is not always easy to do that and it is a continuous work in progress.

It can be done, we can all do it.

I look at a lot of folks that arrive here in WA there is that saying bright-eyed and Bushey tailed and it is true when we start out it is with an air of expectation if things don't go according to plan or live up to the sales hype slowly but surely folks will drift away.

The key can be when things start to slide or go haywire, then that is the time to take action, that analogy of doing the same old thing and expecting that different outcome springs to mind.

It is not going to happen, as we have planned it or happen the way we desire it to, and that can be life its self. The thing is with WA we have an opportunity to create some really good and positive outcomes.

In this blog the image kind of pants a picture it could have gone really bad, it didn't, so there is always another day.

Sometimes we need those shocks to keep us honest and on point, just the same as with our online journeys sometimes we need things not to work out, it keeps us honest and returns us to a sense of focus and purpose.

Because if we do not have that focus and sense of purpose we are on a slow burn.
Every day get up and give it heaps as the saying goes, at the start and the end of the day we owe it to ourselves to do that.

Onto the next adventure folks thank you for reading.

I am already living on the edge, I live in rural Eastern WA without cellphone coverage. I am still using a traditional phone. I can not even qualify for many Social media platform since you need a cellphone to register with. That is life on the edge.😊
Sandy

That would be limiting Sandy you are doing well to build considering the issues that you confront.

How do you manage to work around the lack of coverage?

Definitely life on the edge.

Alex

Hi Alex great post thank you for sharing

Hi Murray,

You are most welcome pleased that you found the post okay.

Alex

Wow, fantastic post, Alex. How apropos for me since where I work F/T there are HUGE shifts in staff leaving, new leadership evaluating our dept's scope, everyone's who left is kinda feeling uncertain yet hopeful and some who are downright feeling we're on the Titanic. Ironically, I don't feel nervous, stressed out or worried about the job. I've learned to shift gears, adapt and keep the positive attitude because as you say, things happen.

Instagram is not for everyone and I'm glad you shared your honest view about your own experiences about it. Like any social media outlet, it has its pros & cons.

The main thing, as you pointed out - is not where you started or if you're stuck in the middle...but where you finish (and if it's really where you intended to end up, right?)

Keep up the great posts - so glad you're here!

Hi Sharon, I hear you it is times like that when communication tends to fly out the window, folks are left standing in the foyer waiting for a ticket to take their seat in the stadium or not.

There is something about that consultation process that leaves folks with that sinking feeling describing it as the Titanic is a great analogy.

When it is going south if we can create that space in ourselves where we are still focused on outcomes the situation can take on a really healthy vibe for us.

Everything in the online space has its pro's and con's it can be about working the best angle that indeed suits our business aspirations moving forward.

Better to make the boo-boo's on the ground floor rather than when you are taking delivery of the keys to the penthouse, mistakes at that end of the day can be costly indeed.

Thank you for stopping by and joining in the conversation.

Alex

Thanks for your great post, Alex.

There is much to be learned from what you have written here. For instance - the best of laid plans...... Oh, yeah! They can keep on a straight line, or just simply go haywire.

Also, I enjoyed reading about your Instagram venture. Now, that is something I have wanted to do for a long time. However, I have assumed it not possible due to finding enough appropriate images on a long term basis. Maybe my thoughts are what you call - putting the cart before the horse!

Most enjoyable, Alex.

Valerie

Hi Valerie, you are most welcome,

Plan, planning and then do, or perhaps toss a coin in the air we always have a fifty-fifty chance.

I guess when haywire comes to visit it can be about adapting and creating those new outcomes.

I think that doing things for the sake of doing can be when we give it that half-hearted exposure so we don't really give it the energy that it deserves.

I have been thinking about the images, Think it was Kyle that said everyone has a phone we are all photographers now.

That interaction with our environments is a spectacular canvas that can be shared and I believe Instagram is a phone based eco-environment.

Unless you go hard out do it from a desk/laptop and introduce some AI for good measure.

We are all challenged every day one of the cool things is we are on a journey with a whole heap of folks that are going through and experiencing the same things.

Wealthy affiliate is a truly unique space in the online world.

Thank you for stopping by and for your thoughtful response.

Alex

Thanks for your response, Alex.

Yes, Kyle did say everyone has a phone. I just need to remember to stop and take photos.

Also, I was told by someone, not a WA member, that Instagram must be done on a phone, not on a computer.

Surprisingly to myself, I do have an Instagram account but I didn't set it up. A relative-in-law did that in good faith as his mother, has a fashion business in Bali and posts images on Instagram regularly. I might give Instagram a try on that account.

All good food for thought! But I'm not setting any more goals, for now!

Valerie

It is one of those habit things I guess, some phones actually take very good images.

You are doing very well in the goal department Valerie and like us all there just don't seem to be enough hours in the day.

Time is the leveler when it comes to exploring new projects.

Alex

Thank you for your encouragement, Alex. It is all about the number of hours in a day.

My phone is giving me problems at present but I can say it takes good photos. I have some nice photo's of scenery in this area, but that's about it for me.

Anyway, I'm not going to worry about anything else for now. Last evening I purchased a new theme for my affiliate marketing site. I know I've talked a lot about Canvas no longer being supported. So this site is now sitting behind an image created by an under-construction plugin. So that is going to keep me busy for a while.

Valerie

Hi Alex and thank you for sharing this post.
I definitely feel like I'm in the trenches at the moment. No General here!!
Sadly I think I'm going to die in the trenches with the other soldiers
Cheers
Dave

Hi, Dave just speaking figuratively, I know the feeling of being in the trenches.

A lot of the time we can look sideways and think gee whiz those guys and girls have got things totally done and dusted.

The thing about this space that we occupy is that there is always something new or something to get our heads around. Every day is another opportunity to give it our all.

Just keep chipping away Dave we all get there and the only folks that do not are people who give up on Thursday night unaware that success was making its way to their front about to knock for the celebratory party on Friday morning.

Thank you for stopping by dave.

How is your journey going?

Alex

Cheers Alex👍🏼

A good road map to navigate Alex!

Hi, Mike good to see you, probably give it an F- for navigation skills. Somedays the cowboy in us, all can be running in overdrive, just a matter of hanging on and enjoying the ride.

But getting down to business it can be so easy to get lost coming out of the starting gates, that pause before we rush headlong into any new venture can be the thing that can make all the difference.

The amazing thing about this industry is that there is always something to learn, and as we know, some of our biggest failures can lead to our most remarkable achievements.

Thank you for stopping by much appreciated.

How is the sales letter writing exercise going?

Alex

I've mined out the sales letter and will be turning to writing. But I will post a bit here and there to round out the edges! Still holding strong in the A ranks. Well done Alex!

I really like that: "If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space." Bring on the edge -- I'll work on it!

Classic Fran, the edge can be the place where it all happens, I like your response very much.

Thank you.

Alex

Hi Alex...I almost started to do that myself here a couple of months ago. I read a few blogs about MMO niche and the suggestions that new members (at the time, like me) should not start there. I believe you read and commented there also. So, you probably remember...or not. As there are so many blogs to read here.

But, I was so thinking of throwing in the towel on that idea to start over again. I ended that blog thinking...no way was I going to do that. So, got back on track...

Why is that relevant? I was starting to believe them. Then, like you, stopped the belief of the others and followed my heart and pressed on. Am I making money with it? No, not yet. But, still continuing on...because I will one day!

You reminded me of myself that day, reading this...

Keep the faith and I wish you the best!

Bob

I remember Bob, sometimes folks can forget where they started, there seems to be this thing about new members not promoting WA, we are here to learn and nothing beats learning on the job.

If we just share our experience or where we are there are so many folks out there that are traveling the same questioning journey.

I love hearing from the folks in the trenches.

Generals are the only ones that die in bed.

Pushing through that shall I, shan't I moment can be the thing that makes all the difference for our journey.

The thing is, no matter where we are in the journey things can trip us up, the key is to stick to our plan and follow through.

Thank you for stopping by much appreciated.

Like you, I will definitely be keeping the faith and sharing it as well.

Best wishes Bob.

Alex
