Some Classic Local SEO Myths ( Be thankful you at WA )

I am just flicking through some classic local SEO myths.

It is just hitting hump day, its downhill to the weekend.

Time for some midweek humor, before I go a little greyer, in the hair department.

Be glad you are here, leaning some solid skills, and have the resources to implement that knowledge.

When it comes to promoting or trying to create and enhance an online presence, many have some misguided ideas and approaches.

One of the best things that we can do is sit back and observe and analyze what is working in your market place. Each niche or business will have slightly similar but yet different things that will work. The outcomes we are hoping to achieve should become our primary focus.

When we think in terms of SEO, it is not just a one-off but more a culture that we work to incorporate into our online activities.

It is an ongoing process that needs to be tweaked to meet changes as they occur but also to make sure that our presence remains relevant.

The following may seem humorous, and we can take it lightly; the thing is that there a lot of misconceptions in the market place.

People and their businesses are missing out on sales, income, and, most of all, market penetration.

A business that works and invests in creating the best presence that it can is a business that remains relevant.

So many online presences fall by the side of the internet road.

Okay, here we go in no particular order, some reflections of possible behaviors that may not be conducive to creating the desired presence.

In each case, I would imagine that the individuals will be convinced that what they are doing will increase and enhance their businesses.

Okay, what do you think?

"I want to be on page1 in my local area where about 100 other businesses are doing what I do. But I don't want my address on the website or Google My Business".

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, okay!

An agency said that they didn't offer SEO services or recommend them because if you do SEO on your website, then your competitors will do SEO on their websites, and it will be worthless...

Needless to say, that company is out of business. Lol.

Okay, so we don't think about SEO because if we do other bloggers will do the same, it councils it's self out".

Somebody call, me an ambulance, please......................................

"I just spent $ 30 bucks on Fiverr, and the guy said he would get all our keywords to the top of page one".

You guys are too, dear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go for it, man, best wishes.

"We don't need SEO. We are already in the yellow pages, so our trajectory is heading one way".

Awesome yellow pages away.

"We just brought a 1000 links so we will be outranking the competition they won't be able to compete with us".

What can you say to that one?

"Perhaps look at a narrowing your target audience, from males and females, zero up, what do you think"?

"No, we want to target everyone"!

This one is awesome!

"Just brought an email list, so the business is going to take off, we'll need extra staff."

Any leads?

"Not yet".

"But we sent 6000 emails today, early days".

"Let us know how you get on."

This one that stands out for me the folks that purchased an email list and then proceeded to email that list.

By any other name spam that list, as I would imagine that the folks receiving those emails have no connection or have given permission for that company to email them.

Not a healthy behavior even when your star is rising.

Just a personal reflection.

That website launch always special.

"We launched our website yesterday, why can't, I find it when I search."

"We have been ripped off."

The rubber meets the road at some point.

"We have done all the SEO; It's been two months why aren't we on page one, our five keywords should be ranking by now."

Some folks think they can do SEO better than anyone, and then they don't have to pay anyone to help, or learn any new skills. Then they realize it is harder than they realize.

Trouble is we all have to learn, and we all need to be continually updating our knowledge base and skills.

Making that realization can be a real breakthrough moment in anyone's online journey.

It makes you feel good about being here in Wealthy Affiliate.

Knowledge, training, and resources.

Happy days Jay happens to be running a series on local marketing this month, well worth checking out.

What are your thoughts I would be really interested to know.

The wealth of valuable information on Wealthy Affiliate doesn't cease to amaze me!

Edwin

Hi Edwin,

So true, sometimes people refer to that fine dividing line.

With WA it is a canyon.

Between the not so good ways to do things and the legitimate way to do things.

Thank you for sharing.

Alex

Great SEO humor Alex!

Yes we do have the proper and sustainable way right here at WA my friend,

Tony

Hi Tony, good to see you.

The scary thing is that some businesses and individuals approach online marketing in this fashion.

The knowledge that we can tap into here in WA certainly helps us to do things the right way.

Alex

*** LiKe those 'replies!' ... lol ... so-o funniee-e! ... happy daze!

appreciate your blog post, Alex!

Enjoy it all! ... ⭐️😊⭐️ ... ***

This is a good one.

If we don't have competitors on that niche it will rank number one, we will occupy the first page and all our posts are there.

Alex, you made my day! Great post as always and I love the humor. Happy hump day!
Joe

Hi Joe, glad you enjoyed this post, have a productive week.

Alex

You too Alex
Joe

A good laugh, thank you Alex.
Despite so much information so readily available people still do not arm themselves with knowledge before they begin.
Bit like a would be pilot saying 'oh I can fly this plane, I do it on my game every day.' Uh huh!

That is epic Linda, so many tales like that one.

Thank you for sharing.

On a serious note, I have to agree today more than ever we need to equip ourselves and continue to expand our knowledge to make a go of any endeavor.

Alex

We do. Knowledge is power.

I needed a good laugh Alex, thanks. Jim

Hi, Jim, you are most welcome, me too.

Alex

Needed the laugh Alex. Thanks so much.

Lily 😊

Awesome, Lily, glads that you enjoyed this post.

Some times you just have to stand back and look at the funny side of things.

It does help.

Have a great day.

Alex

Thanks Alex, I especially liked the one where he purchased a website, did a search & couldn’t find it, feels he’s been ripped off...lol. When I first made my first website with site rubix here at WA, I did a search and couldn’t find it, where the heck was it thought I?

I honestly believed it would all be so simple, within a month I would be earning s fortune. Because all those other You Tube scammers told me I could be earning $10,000 dollars easy peasy, in my first few months...so because I then went and signed up with a reputable company like WA they would show me the right way, but in my mind I still thought I would be raking it in by month 6, I had already written my work resignation letter in my head.

It didn’t help when a brand new member, like myself (2 weeks) did a screen shot of her click bank account and seemed to have made $300 in her first week. Really funny thing she only seemed to last a further 2 weeks and then left,

Lowering my expectations has never been an easy task for me, however making them realistic is a lot easier and I thank the universe every day for introducing me to WA 👍👏

Great post Alex

Awesome response Cordelia, thank you.

It's the wild west out there some days.

That shock we all experience, when we build it and then realize that this may take a little longer than the sales pitch promoted.

I say thank you for sharing because I think it is a journey that many of us share, and I think that the realization that we all follow the same path and experience the same things all be at different times can be empowering.

I remember that member the only thing missing from the byline was "the how", we should always peel away a few layers.

It can be challenging if we are just starting out, I think that can be where that community support kicks in.

I think that you have raised such a valid point, we all want to succeed, why else would we be here, creating realistic expectations can be the thing that makes this journey sustainable.

Alex

And an awesome response to my response. 👏
